Chapter 162

Kraig walked through the crowd to meet his grandfather. He wasn't excited anymore because the fight he had with Wynn had managed to strip him of the joy he used to possess. Now, he was walking around wearing a fake smile like it was an accessory. He tried too hard to seem excited because the last thing he wanted for his grandfather was for him to be upset or worried about what was going on with him.

Kraig finally met up with his grandfather, who was busy talking to other men of his class. They were laughing, smiling, and probably talking about the old times.

Kraig tapped his old man on his shoulder, and when he turned around, Kraig wrapped his hand around him, pulling him into a deep hug.

Mr. DeVille groaned into the hug as he was enveloped in his grandson's scent. He was delighted, very happy—happier than he thought he would ever be.

"I never thought I'd reach this age," he said.

Kraig laughed, as if all the despair he had been feeling had completely washed away.
