Kraig's jaw tightened, around the same time that his eyebrows furrowed, and his eyes turned dark. He had a visible frown on his face as he searched his brain for any other possible translation to what had just been told to him. He was unable to understand, to grasp the meaning of what was being said. Or perhaps he understood perfectly, but what he was finding hard to do was accept that this was the reality. He was finding it hard to accept that Tabitha was the person they all had assumed she was.

Truthfully, he had been hoping that they had been wrong. He had prayed that she was different. She was enchanting; she had managed to sneak into his heart and provoke some kind of affection for herself. She got past his defenses, especially since he was in a very vulnerable state.

It was quite a shame that she wasn't different. That she was exactly who they thought she was. That she was a horrible person.

Still, he didn't want to believe it.
