The sun was already high up in the sky when Wesley woke up. He had had a somewhat perfect night with his wife. So perfect that he wanted the day to never come. Unfortunately, things didn't work that way and so, he was bad at dealing with the way things actually worked. He turned over in bed, expecting to see the woman who had made his night memorable but what he felt beside him was an empty space. He lifted his head and looked around; the bed was empty except for the boxes that were opened down. Jade was not in her bed because she was busy packing their clothes, placing them in the bags. A smile came to Wesley's face on seeing her and his worried heart finally stilled. He didn't want to rise up from the bed but from the looks of it, he had to. Jade was already packing up to leave which meant that their stay had come to an end. So he rose up from the bed, as he passed by her to the bathroom, he planted a kiss on her temple, whispering in her ear, "Good morning baby". Jade said n
Kraig stayed seated as he just watched. He wasn't even so naive that he removed his eyes from her. On the contrary, he kept it locked in on hers, watching every small flicker, any change whatsoever and all he could see was childishness, stupidity and foolishness. He saw jade as someone who had nothing important to do and that was why she was taunting him. He also knew that the only reason she married Wesley was because of wealth but nor matter how many times he and many others had tried to warn her against him, she turned a deaf ear. He was ready to see how she reacts when she learns the truth. She had brought herself here now because surely Wesley wouldn't be such an idiot as to bring her here himself. Coming here today was all on her. Wesley joined the scene, "what's going on here?" "Kraig doesn't want to do what I ask of him. What sort of a servant behaves this rudely?" Wesley was exasperated, "what is your problem, jade? If he doesn't want to get it, there are many other ser
Jade shook her head. Her brain refuses to grasp an understanding of the words of her husband. She thought given the place he was currently, he may decide to be down to earth. But what was the use of that? "Don't be so modest, my dear, it helps no one" she said. Wesley wondered if she had gotten her brain traded for a designer bag. He had communicated so clearly that he wasn't a part of the family still she was refusing to believe him, to understand his words. He wondered what was going on through her head that she was so hell bent on even translating his very clear English words to be something else. He gripped the bridge of his nose and sighed in frustration. "I know you don't want to appear like you're bigger than these people, you don't want to look like you're better than them, but Wesley, pretending doesn't fit you, modesty isn't your strongest suit so just drop it". "Why are you refusing to understand my words, jade?" Wesley asked, "I said I am not a DeVille, I'm not the he
Wynn immediately shook her head, though she was broke and had no way to possibly pay back derek, she still refused to accumulate more debt nor did she want to feel kike she owed anyone anything. Not for pride but just the freedom from all these unnecessities. "You don't have to worry yourself about my issues, Juan, I'll pay for this piece of shit myself." Juan was insistent, he took Wynn's hand, "we're friends, if I can help you, why shouldn't I?" Wynn looked at him and wondered if she was seeing things wrong. They used to be friends before Kraig came into the picture but now, they weren't much and for him to show up suddenly bearing gifts and even insisting on paying for what Derek was demanding, she couldn't help but feel like he had some ulterior motive to his kindness. She had no reason whatsoever to not trust him but she just couldn't accept that his kindness came from a place of solidarity. "Just let me help you," Juan said, giving her no leeway to refuse his help. But sh
As Kraig walked out of the room, he stopped by the living room before deciding to return to his own. He held no iota of pity for the woman he just left in that room. He had warned her, he felt everything she was getting was nothing but the reward of her actions. She had been so impatient and so childish about everything that had taken place and now her reward was being married to a man who had deceived her. He had not been lying when he said if he was the one he'd have sent them out. Jade disrespected him in so many ways and he wouldn't have shown any form of mercy upon her. He thought she should be able to learn the way the world works as old as she was. He reached the living room and there he saw his grandfather still sitting there. His eyes were on the television but he showed little to no interest in what was going on. His mind was far away and he looked forlorn. Now this one was deserving of his pity. Kraig went forward and wrapped his arms around his grandfather. "You like th
Jade felt that being called downstairs for breakfast was a good thing. It had been a while and nobody mentioned anything about them leaving the house. She knew this vacation, or bliss would come to an end sooner or later but she was ready to enjoy it while it lasted. And also she sought for something. A new mission for herself. There was no way she'd allow herself leave the house. She wasn't going to allow herself to be made a fool of. Now she had turned to the clown in the mansion, the right person for comical relief because she had allowed herself to be fooled into marrying the wrong person. But now, she was not going to make the same mistake. She was not going to allow herself to be fooled for a second time. She was more than that. And so she sat on a chair, ready for her mission to begin. She waited and watched how everyone else got to their seats with a knowing smile on her face. She was dolled up nicely but not superfluously nor unnatural. Her husband had asked her what she
Wesley wasn't at all surprised that a person who was supposed to have oassed out was talking back to him. He got only a half of the cintent that the woman was a psychopath. Whether or not he was in love with Jade, whether or not he married her for money, he was still vey well aware of the things she could do and hitting someone's head on the desk waa something far beyond jade's ability. There was really only one understanding from his deduction and the fear he recognized in jade's eyes: Carolene had hurt herself. How sick was that? "There's no way Jade could've hurt you that way. You faked passing out, what's hurting yourself that you can't fake?" Carolene raised an eyebrow at him, "your accusation is quite bold," she said. "You're saying I harmed myself for what reason?" "Because you're a sick psycho and you want us out of this house!" Wesley yelled. "Were you ever in it?" She maintained her equanimity. Maybe that was what pissed Wesley off, she remained so calm that made hi
"What did you just say?" Kt was Wynn this time. The supposed Wesley stared at the three people standing there looking at him like he was a ghost. He was certain that they had taken some kind of special drug that made them lose their shit upon seeing him. He made the decision to ignore them and then drive into the mansion, but the gates were refusing to open for him. "Can any of you help me get to the gate or are you suddenly statues?" Kraig couldn't stop staring at him. From his hair to the color of his eyes to the way he talked, he was exactly like Wesley who he knew was inside the house. Kraig couldn't help but laugh. 'Would someone love be Wesley so much that they even decide to do surgery to look like his arrogant cousin? He was mesmerized. He knew that this was a different Wesley for a number of reasons and one was that Wesley, the one he was acquainted with, was unable to afford a car like that. "You cannot be Wesley," Kyle said. "Why can't I be myself?" The new Wesley
