Marcus turned over and over on his bed. He was ridden with a high level of restlessness. There was nothing he could do to get away now. He was given only seven days by the grumpy Judge and out of the seven days, he had used up two and basically achieved nothing. Now, he had only about five days to go and there was no clue to his justification in the case. He and Luciana kept on searching for leads on Obed and leads on Matthew SheIn.Sam knocked lightly on his door and he grumpily asked him to come in.Sam pushed the door lightly and walked in towards Marcus's bed.“Good morning Boss,” his face was not as bright as it usually would be.Marcus sat up on the bed and brought his feet down to the ground, sliding them into his slippers.“What is going on Sam?” Marcus asked with a bit of anxiety, building up within him.“Another series of rejection mails dropped on our radar this morning,” Sam replied with a slight groan in his voice.Marcus took a deep breath. He turned away from Sam and w
“I know how you feel,” Camelia whispered to Marcus, following him back to his sitting room and finding a couch to plant herself. She had rang him earlier, immediately after Sam left to tell him that she had something really important to tell him.“What do you understand about how I feel?” Marcus asked sarcastically, smiling through his sorrow.“You cannot believe that you are in a situation like this, not at this time. I am also hurt by it and I am putting my ears to the ground to make sure that I help you and Luciana solve this mysterious case.”Her eyes shine with compassion and it triggered a strange feeling within Marcus. He was extremely pleased with how invested she was in helping him find the justice that she believed he deserved.“I know how painful it is to watch yourself in this situation. I mean, who would think that Marcus Blackwood would be sentenced to life imprisonment? Look, I will never let that happen to you. As a matter of fact, I think I may have found the answer t
Marcus and his company pulled up at the Weldich health centre, right at the heart of the little community.Just as Camelia had stated, it was a small village and looked like it had a lot of makeshift cottages.“But why would she leave the city to live in a place like this?” Luciana asked, she had a look of disapproval on her face.“I guess we are about to find out,” Marcus replied, getting out of the car. “I do not know how far off her place is from here but I think it would be best if we leave the vehicle here in this square.”Others nodded to his suggestion. It made a lot of sense for them to leave the vehicle back at the square as it could implicate them if they had to take it with them. They walked the long miles, trying to figure out the cottage that Camelia has said she believed that Loren was living in.“Are you sure this is the community?” Luciana asked, sounding a bit exhausted because she had walked longer than she was used to and the roads were a bit rocky.“We should be th
Loren let them into the house and shut the door. She was filled with compassion over the entire situation and could not allow an innocent man go to jail because she was trying to protect herself from their rivalry. She offered them seats to sit on and proceeded to serve them biscuits. Her little cottage was surprisingly well decorated and it was homely too.Camelia kept looking around, as though she was taking in every detail of her little home.“Why did you change your mind to let us in?” Marcus asked with curiosity nagging at his chest.Loren cleared her throat.“The truth is, I could have let you in if you were a different person. Perhaps, any of these other people had come here, I would have let them in. But you, I could not easily do so because the last thing I wanted was to be in the middle of the fight between you and Magnus.”Marcus groaned. She made a lot of sense and the rest of his team knew this. She was just being careful.“I understand you Miss Loren. What you did what y
Marcus, and his team stared at each other. The elderly Nanny was obviously talking tongue in cheek but they could not clearly spell that out to her. They were considering the fact that she let them into her house as a hug favour and the last thing they wanted was to make her to have regrets. But not for the ever pushy Luciana. She was determined to get that fact today or at least a clue as to where the Shein's family were hiding. She could see through Loren's Facade and knew that she had a knowledge of their whereabouts but was definitely playing safe. These suspicions did not end as mere thoughts for Luciana because she proceeded to ask Loren, her courage topping the fear others had of losing her if they embarrass her with too many questions.“Is it that you do not know where the family might be or you just do not want to let us know because you are afraid that we may give them away and they become endangered?” Luciana's lips were curled and it meant she was sticking it out with Loren
Marcus and his team left, going on to their car.“Whoever this woman was, you cracked her code,” Marcus told Luciana and she smiled proudly. “I am good at what I do,” she whispered, getting into the car and shutting the door.“So, where are we headed now?” Camelia asked with curiosity chopping off at her.“Luciana and I would go on to Leesburg while you and Sam go back. But before that, I would like to pay a visit to Uncle Richard to tell him the state of things so far and all that we have discovered.“Why boss? I would have loved to come with you. Are you sure you aren't gonna need me?” Sam asked, his burrows soaked with sweat.Marcus smiled. He was glad that his security guard understood his job and always made himself available.“This is a fight that I and Luciana alone need to fight. Just stay back at the company. Let us not forget that Uncle Richard was locked up hence no one is looking after things for me.”Sam nodded. This was an order he could not disobey, he would have pushe
The journey to Leesburg was about an hour and it was majorly silence infested because the trio said nothing to each other.Once they got to the town and saw the signpost that read:Welcome to Leesburg; your home of affluence,Camelia sat up and began to look out.“How are we going to find them now that we are here?” she asked, looking out of the car window.Sam and Marcus exchanged glances. “I am not sure. At least, we have a name ; Diego,” Marcus muttered.“There cannot possibly be only one Diego in the whole of Leesburg,” Camelia insisted, still looking out of the window.“I'd say that we keep a hopeful mind and hope to get this sorted out.”Camelia nodded. Marcus was right. The only thing that they could do was to continue hoping that it goes well. They arrived at a pub and Sam parked the car.“Why are we stopping here?” Marcus asked, staring at Sam.“In my opinion, pubs always know secrets and basically know everyone in a town. This would be the best place to start our search fro
Camelia's gaze did not disappear from him and she was not going to give up.Marcus admired how tricky she was with getting out information and sHe was impressed as well. The two ladies, Luciana and Camelia were extremely instrumental and he was grateful that he had two of them in his team of investigators. He wondered what he would have done without them. The pub man was now packing up the bottles they had emptied.“Would you like more bottles of beer and another Smirnoff?”Camelia shook her head.“I have had enough. I just need to go and see my dear friend, Linda Shein. Again, I just dialled her number but it says, "switched off.”The pub man looked at her with a gaze that showed he was not buying her tales.“Can I take a look at the number that you dialled?” He asked with an intent gaze at her.Marcus and Sam slightly panicked for her sake, hoping that she had things under control still.“Of course!” Camelia replied and pulled out the number to show him.The pubman took a close loo
