Loren let them into the house and shut the door.

She was filled with compassion over the entire situation and could not allow an innocent man go to jail because she was trying to protect herself from their rivalry.

She offered them seats to sit on and proceeded to serve them biscuits.

Her little cottage was surprisingly well decorated and it was homely too.

Camelia kept looking around, as though she was taking in every detail of her little home.

“Why did you change your mind to let us in?” Marcus asked with curiosity nagging at his chest.

Loren cleared her throat.

“The truth is, I could have let you in if you were a different person. Perhaps, any of these other people had come here, I would have let them in. But you, I could not easily do so because the last thing I wanted was to be in the middle of the fight between you and Magnus.”
