Chapter 3

"What's this?" asked Darren again, looking surprised.

Darren then took his cellphone and took a photo of all the documents. He would save them.

With his hands still shaking, Darren returned to cleaning the room. He will still finish it, even though his mind is full of question marks.

"Why is there this document? What is the relationship?" Darren asked, still curious. He even looked at the documents he had photographed several times.

Darren finally finished his work this morning, and he returned to the place where they usually gathered after finishing all his work.

Darren looked back at the documents he had photographed earlier, and again he reflected on everything.

Daze was a company owned by his parents that they used to own, and all of that disappeared after the incident. And after that, it's all gone. Not only is Darren missing, but he also doesn't know anything. Because he is busy moving on with his life. He doesn't even care anymore, and he forgets everything because he has to get out of this city. In fact, he no longer knows about all the companies and assets owned by his father.

Darren was indeed feeling awkward at this time because he had never even heard of or known about the company. The company also disappeared and may have changed its name.

And now he's looking back at all of that. The document he accidentally found was the name of a company he had not heard of in a long time.

All of that opened old wounds that had been buried. Images of all that crime came back to him. He remembered that his father used to mention that PT. Daze is for Darren's future, and so high are his father's hopes for Darren in the company he built.

"Papa..." Darren muttered softly.

Darren sat staring at it, trying to piece it all together. And he still won't be able to understand. At that time, he was still too young to understand all the affairs of adults. He doesn't know all the company's problems; he is still too small and also busy with his world. What he knew at that time was that their lives were completely sufficient and did not lack anything. What he wants can all be fulfilled easily, even with a flick of the hand.

"What exactly happened?" Darren asked again.

"Abitex, Daze. What is the relationship? And why are Daze's documents in Abitex's office?" Darren asked again.

Even now, he doesn't know who to ask because he doesn't even know who the people who have been his father's friends are. Because he doesn't remember anyone who has visited his house. Even though in the past so many of his father's friends often came to their house, because he was too young, he never cared and paid attention to everything.

"Who should I ask?" asked Darren in his heart.

Darren really couldn't stop thinking about it all. He had completely forgotten everything at first, and now he was remembering everything again. However, he hated himself for not being able to remember. No matter how hard he tried, he still could not find any clues.

"I was too small for that time," Darren said again, trying to make sense of the situation so he wouldn't blame himself too much for not being able to solve the puzzle.

That day, Darren was unfocused. Waiting to go home feels so long. There was something he would do when he got home.

There is one thing that Darren has remembered until now: that his father once left something for him, which he always carries in his wallet. However, he couldn't open it in public because Darren was afraid something might make people suspicious. And also according to the message from his father, when he opened it, it was confirmed that Darren was alone, and Darren was 22 years old.

Teng!

Darren's cell phone alarm dinged, meaning it was time to go home. Because, as usual, Darren would set an alarm so he wouldn't miss it. And if indeed there are tasks that have not been completed, that means all will be counted as overtime. Overtime for an ordinary employee like Darren is very meaningful because it means that his income will increase when he receives his salary.

"Finally, working hours are over; I have to go home and go somewhere. Who knows, something meaningful will be written on that paper that can provide an explanation regarding the relationship between Abitex and Daze," Darren muttered quietly as he headed for the finger print machine.

Darren had decided that he would head to a cafe located on the edge of one of the lakes. The atmosphere was quite quiet and calm.

"Let's have a coffee!" suddenly one of his friends asked to go.

"Sorry, I have something to do first," Darren replied, refusing his friend's invitation. And Darren also knew that the offer from his friend was just lip service that they used to mock him.

"Hahaha, yes, you are the boss' favorite son-in-law. You must have a lot to do as the husband of the boss's only daughter. But it's a wonder why you still work as a lowly employee and even expect overtime," chuckled his friend mockingly, because more or less they knew Darren and Renata's marriage was not because they loved each other but because Darren had to cover up something he didn't do. They even have a special nickname for Darren, namely jackfruit. They took the term from the old saying that said people who eat jackfruit get the sap.

"Bye, you just go home there," said Darren, encouraging his friend to get away from him.

Darren ordered an online motorcycle taxi and immediately headed to the place he had determined.

Cring! Cring!

Darren's phone rang, and as usual, it must have been from Renata or from his mother-in-law asking him to do various things that gave Darren a real headache.

This time, Darren chose to ignore the call. Because Darren couldn't wait any longer to find out the contents of the letter.

"Please, you guys, let me calm down just this once. Don't call again," Darren muttered, hoping his cell phone would stop ringing soon.

And this is where Darren is now, after the coffee and food served in front of him. And Darren deliberately chose the corner so that no one could find out what he was reading.

Darren slowly took out the shabby paper, so he had never even opened it for tens of years. Actually, there was an intention to open it, but Darren was afraid that the contents would hurt, and he wasn't ready for everything.

This time, Darren felt that he had to open it up so he would know what exactly his father-in-law knew about Daze, his father's company.
