Chapter 6

"Who?" Darren asked again with deep curiosity.

Arras sighed heavily; he seemed hesitant to say it. "Martano and Buston."

Darren's blood stopped flowing when he heard the answer from Arras. How not? The person who ruined his life was very close to him. Even now, she is a servant for that person.

"Meaning this is the connection," Darren muttered as he took his cell phone out of his trouser pocket. He looked back at the documents he had archived on his cell phone. "He's the mastermind."

Darren's hands clenched, and his jaw set. "I must repay him!"

Seeing Darren's significant change made Areas look surprised because Darren's face seemed to show something when he saw his cell phone.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?" Arras asked quietly.

Darren then thrust his cell phone towards Arras, asking the middle-aged man to read what he found a few days ago, and that's why Darren was in this room.

"Don't be hasty, because this can also destroy you," Arras said later after he heard Darren's story about Martano, who is currently none other than his father-in-law and also the boss at his place of work. "And don't show any signs of knowing anything."

Darren shook his head and sighed heavily. "What should I do?" Darren asked like a mutter, but Arras was still able to hear it.

The middle-aged man looked at Darren with a look that was hard to decipher, maybe because he also didn't expect Darren to have to go through something so hard.

"You love Renata?" Arras asked, which surprised Darren quite a bit, because instead of giving him a solution, Arras asked him about personal matters.

Darren was silent for a long time. "For now, maybe not, but I'm interested in it." Darren answered honestly about his feelings for Renata. Over time, as they slept together, Darren developed an interest in his wife, even though Renata never saw him exist.

"Why? Doesn't Renata know anything here?" asked Darren then. Darren slightly guessed that Arras would use Renata as bait. And he never wanted that; he didn't want to sacrifice innocent people like Renata.

Arras shook his head. "Make Renata fall in love with you, and use that to extract more information. Don't do anything for the time being; just do what you normally do."

"A little?" Darren asked again. It felt like it would be very difficult to restrain himself when he already knew all the truth but just kept silent.

Arras nodded slowly. "Act like you don't know anything. And besides, you can use the money you have to create a new company or business. Once things stabilize, you can start."

Darren was silent again, but after he considered Arras' suggestion, it turned out that there was a point. He didn't need to rush things because he also didn't want to be crushed like his parents. The ones he was fighting were not just anyone; everyone knew that.

"Come to me when something bothers you; the door to this house and this room is always open for you," said Arras, who then handed him a small piece of business card with his home address.

Darren nodded and accepted the paper. He must immediately go and take care of the deposits from papaya.

"Don't forget to leave your number, son." Arras gave a message to Darren when he was about to reach for the door handle and leave his room.

Darren left Duta Bank after taking care of all the existing deposits. And now he has become a young billionaire that no one knows.

"Where are you from? Even absent from work today?" asked a deep voice when, in the afternoon, Darren arrived home.

At the door, Martano was waiting for him with a sharp gaze.

"From the bank, taking care of a blocked ATM card," Darren answered slowly.

Martano smiled sarcastically; he knew that his son-in-law was lying. And somehow he felt that Darren was hiding something. "All day?" he asked probingly.

"The queue is long."

"Help Zahir fix my car; it broke down on the road earlier!" ordered Martano as he walked away, leaving Darren, who rolled his eyes. Now he is asked to be a mechanic.

Darren really likes being pranked by the people in the house. All the work he should be able to do.

Darren didn't answer; he went straight to the backyard, where Zahir, the personal mechanic for the Martano family, was checking the condition of the luxury car. And there shouldn't be any need for Darren to interfere anymore; after all, Dareen doesn't know anything about automobiles at all. However, Darren didn't mind without saying much and didn't change clothes; he helped Zahir as much as he could.

After a while, the problem with the car was finally solved; even Darren's clothes were stained with dirty oil.

"You smell so bad; throw away the clothes you're wearing! Or don't come in this room!" Renata shouted when Darren had just entered their room. And it seems that Renata, who is pregnant, hates the smell of oil, so she looks very tormented and is holding back her vomit. "You village people!"

"Yes."

Darren just complied, throwing his clothes into the trash in annoyance. So that made Renata look surprised to see Darren, who didn't talk much and just obeyed. "He's like a man possessed."

The next day, Darren returned to the office as usual. In accordance with the directions from Arras, he did all the work that was assigned to him.

"It turns out that it's so difficult to pretend you don't know and hold back your anger at what they're doing," muttered Darren as he returned to cleaning Martano's room. For some reason, suddenly the manager again asked him to clean his parents-in-law's room, even though the person who was supposed to be in charge there had already come to work. "And this room is the same as before."

This time Darren quickly cleared the room, despite his curiosity to find more evidence there, but endured it: "Now is not the right time; don't be careless."

Darren muttered in his heart, "Even right now, I don't have any plans yet."

He thought that after completing the tasks that piled up all over, his absence yesterday wouldn't matter. It turned out that Darren was wrong; he got an additional task just because he was absent for a day.

"Your salary is cut by a day for absenteeism!" said the manager.

Darren was surprised not to play; who knows how much more salary he will receive? Cut to replace the mother-in-law's favorite flower vase. And now cut again.

"It's really amazing. I work like a cash cow and take salary cuts at will. Hang in there, Darren," Darren said to himself. No one could cheer him up but himself. Even all of his friends laughed at him, as if Darren was the only one who couldn't make mistakes.

Like it or not, Darren had to accept it.

While Darren and several other friends were gathering waiting for break time, suddenly the manager came into the room with mounting anger.

Braaak!

The manager named Kodir immediately hit the table with a red face. "You're all in trouble!" he pointed out, which made everyone confused.

"Especially you!" This time his hand went straight to Darren, and suddenly everyone looked at him curiously.

"Me? What's wrong?" Darren asked, confused, while pointing at himself, but his eyes kept on Kodir.

Kodir nodded confidently. "There are important files missing in Mr. Martano's room. And the last person to enter there is you!"

Darren froze when he heard the accusation leveled at him. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"I don't know when the file disappeared; what is clear is that you are the person most accused. Now just confess before this matter is brought to the authorities!" Kodir continued with a fiery face; even his eyes were intimidating.

Darren did not accept the accusation, but he also had to restrain himself so that everything would not boomerang for him. "What should I admit? I didn't take or lose anything; I just tidied up everything that was messy on the table according to our duties."

"Don't deny!" Suddenly, a voice from the door made everyone silent. And it didn't take long before Martano and the security manager arrived.

"You were the only one who entered my room today!"
