Chapter Five

"What? You can't do that to me!"

"Josh, please call security to throw these rascals out of my company."

Levi walked away after his statement, but he didn't go far before the vice general manager stopped him.

"Good morning, sir." The humility of his voice made Levi stop and turn. He remembered the man as the one his uncle told him had good values.

"Don't be scared, sir. From today on, you will be the new general manager. My uncle wanted me to thank you for being loyal and true to the company. He said that your good deeds had not gone unnoticed," Levi said with a smile on his face

"Oh my! Thank you so much sir!" The man said and almost hugged Levi out of excitement.

"This promotion means so much to me and my family. Thank you very much sir!" He added joyfully.

Levi smiled, patted his back and walked away with happiness in his heart.

The afternoon's heat was one of the things that made Levi despise leaving his company, but he had to go back to school.

Upon arrival, he headed straight for class only to see that his lecturer, Mr. Robin was just rounding up for the day. Mr. Robin stopped what he was doing when he noticed a presence enter the room and he turned and saw that it was Levi, then he signed loudly and went back to what he was doing.

"Good afternoon, sir," he greeted him nonetheless.

"Levi Strauss! You finally decided to grace us with your presence." He said with disdain in his voice.

"I apologize for being late, sir. I actually..."

Mr. Robin snorted. "Save your apologies and excuses, young man. Nobody misses my class, and as punishment for doing so, you are going to get a demerit on this course. I promise you that."

"What?! Sir, you cannot do that. I actually took permission yesterday to miss classes today."

"And yet you came to class?! Doesn't that show signs of dishonesty, Mr. Strauss?" He took a stance and folded his arms around his chest. His eyes were filled with hatred and disgust towards Levi.

"Young man, listen to me! I don't care why you didn't come to school on time. I am not your father, I can never be a father to someone as useless as you so spare me the excuses!" He replied arrogantly.

"Sir, with all due respect, I did not come late to class. I took permission. I have a good reason for why I came late."

As they spoke, the bell rang, and students started leaving the class.

"Go on then, tell me. Why were you late for my class?"

"I took permission, sir," Levi insisted.

"Let me make one thing clear to you, young man. I do not care if you are the king of England, you do not come late for my class. But since you feel like you can do as you wish, I will pardon this. On the condition that I get a share of what a king like yourself is eating if you know what I mean," he said with a wicked grin on his face.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

Mr. Robin clapped his hands in mockery. "I mean, I know that you are worthless and you have nothing to give to anyone but humour me. If I was to ask you for a $1,000, do you have it ready?! Do you even have $100?"

Levi's face got red with anger. "Is that how a teacher should behave?"

"Come on, Levi, don't be so cocky as to try and sugarcoat anything. You are a poor man and no one really cares about what you say."

Levi stood in silence, gritting his teeth and wishing he had a gun to end the man's life.

"You're regret it for your greediness."

"You are threatening me? Then be rest assured that you will come back next session for this course. And the session after that and then I will ensure that you never leave this school. Well, then, Mr. Strauss, do have a lovely day," he said and walked away.

Levi gritted his teeth, turned away, walking to the president's office directly.

The brown furniture in the room went in perfect contrast with the light green paint and off white paint on the walls. These coloured set the tone of seriousness and calmness of the office.

"Good afternoon, sir." Levi greeted.

The president lifted his head from the document he was staring at, looked at the young man.

"Yes, young man, how can I help you?"

"I wanted to donate to the school."

"A donation?" The president's face brightened and he paid rapt attention to Levi while looking at them carefully.

"Yes, sir."

Levi watched as the man scanned him with his eyes.

"Young man, is this supposed to be a joke?" He asked in amusement and anger.

"No, I am serious about this."

"Okay, then. Humour me, what is this donation for, if I may ask?"

"It's for the school, and I don't really care what the money is used for. I just want to donate." Levi said confidently.

"Okay, how much?"

"A million US dollars," Levi said with a smile on his face.

"What?" The president asked in disbelief. "Young man, you better not be joking about something like this!" Levi could see the smile that threatened to over throw his face.

"I am not joking," he said and quickly made the transfer. Immediately, the president's jaw dropped.

"Mr. Levi Strauss!" The president exclaimed and his eyes went back to his phone.

"Did you just transfer two million US dollars to me?!" He asked, astonished. He could barely contain himself and he jumped up from his chair.

"Yes sir. A little token to the school," Levi said with a satisfied look on his face.

"This is more than a little token! How can I thank you enough?!"

"Well, since you asked. There is one thing that I want."

"Name it! Name it and it is done."

"I don't mean to be disrespectful, sir but one of your staff is very abusive and he takes advantage of the students."

"Are you referring to Mr. Robin?" The president asked softly.

"Yes sir. He doesn't deserve to be a teacher. "

The president nodded.

There had been a lot of complaints about Mr. Robin, he hadn’t fired him just because the teacher was “smart” enough and he could get some benefits from him occasionally.

But now thing’s different.

This young man was apparently from a wealthy family and the money he could get from him would definitely be much more than that teacher could offer..

That’s simple math...

"No problem, sir. He'll be fired today!"
