The next day, Mr. Larkin was determined to uncover the truth about Miller’s origins. It was already difficult, but he had to try. His first stop was the hospital where he and his wife had adopted Miller many years ago.

Walking into the hospital brought back a flood of memories. He remembered the joy of bringing Miller home, the hope they had for their family. Now, that hope felt shattered. He approached the reception desk, his heart pounding.

“Excuse me,” he said to the nurse behind the desk. “I need to speak with someone about an adoption that took place here years ago.”

The nurse looked at him curiously. “Do you have an appointment?”

“No, I don’t,” Mr. Larkin admitted. “But it’s urgent. I need to find information about my son’s biological parents.”

The nurse hesitated. “I’ll see if someone is available to help you. Please have a seat.”
