Edward and Robert exchanged a look of astonishment, their eyebrows shooting up in surprise.

"Your... granddaughter?" Edward stammered. He couldn't hide the disbelief in his voice.

Bill nodded, a mix of pride and fondness in his eyes as he spoke of Eva. "There are powerful people who would exploit any weakness, any connection, to manipulate me. I couldn't bear the thought of Eva being used as a pawn in their political games."

Eva chimed in, her expression touched by her grandfather's words. "Grandpa decided to keep my identity hidden from the public and the media by faking my death. He wanted to protect me from the chaos and scrutiny that came with being part of our family. That's why I attended Fairview High School under a different fsmily name that year."

Edward nodded in understanding, his initial confusion now replaced with clarity. He admired President Bill's commitment to protecting his granddaughter and understood why her true identity had to remain a closely guarded secret.
