A Surprising Gift

Zachary paused, thinking back to the heartbreak and injustice he had experienced as an ordinary person. He knew they would continue to harm others if he didn't stand up.

"All right, I'll come back," he finally said to the butler.

As he turned to leave, he saw three sleek Mercedes cars pull up, followed by a group of guards who quickly bowed to him.

"Sorry to keep you are waiting, sir," the head of security said, opening the door of the middle car for Zachary.

Zachary climbed into the car. Then he asked the driver to take him to a phone store he had previously visited.

As he entered the store, Zachary spotted Rashad and a surprised smile crossed Rashad's face. "Well, if it isn't you," he said, chuckling. "Are you here to return the phone?"

Zachary shook his head. "No, actually, I'm here to buy a new phone," he said calmly.

Rashad raised an eyebrow. "Another one? Do you want a cheaper phone? I'm sorry to say that your phone is the cheapest."

Zachary ignored and asked, "Where's Malaya?"

Malaya had just come back from the bathroom. She looked up and noticed Zachary standing there. "Oh! Hi! How can I help you?" she asked, slightly surprised.

Zachary felt relieved seeing Malaya. He did not come to the store in vain today.

"Can I look at the store's latest phone model?" he asked.

Rashad sneered in response, "And what for? You want to remember it and come back here in ten years to buy it?"

Malaya interjected, "Rashad, please be respectful." She turned to Zachary and said, "Of course, let me show you the latest model. It has some great features, and I'm sure you'll be impressed."

As Zachary checked the phones out, Rashad stood nearby with a contemptuous look. Zachary tried to ignore his presence.

Malaya cleared her throat and said, "Well, we have a newer and more advanced model. It costs $1,500."

Rashad rolled his eyes and said, "I don't think you'll be able to afford it, buddy. Maybe try saving up for a few years first."

Zachary smiled and said, "Actually, how many do you have in stock? I'll take all of them."

Malaya's eyes widened in surprise. "All?"

Rashad's expression turned skeptical. "I don't know if that's such a good idea," he said. "You couldn't even pay for one of these phones the last time you were here."

Zachary turned to Malaya and asked, "Is it possible for me to purchase all the phones here? I can confirm that I have enough money to buy them."

Malaya looked at him in surprise and then turned to Rashad. "We should check with our manager first," she said.

Rashad shook his head, a hint of disbelief in his voice. "Don't trust this liar. If he lied once, he will lie a second time. It will be difficult for the manager to sort this out if he can't afford it."

Zachary glanced outside the store and nodded. Two men in suits strode into the store, carrying a sleek briefcase. Zachary motioned to them, and they opened the case to reveal stacks of cash.

Zachary turned to Rashad and said, "Now do you trust me?" Rashad's expression changed from one of skepticism to one of shock as he stared at the money.

Malaya immediately walks quickly to the back of the store to call the manager.

Rashad stood there in shock, his eyes wide open and his mouth agape. He stammered and couldn't say a complete sentence, still trying to process what he had just witnessed.

"We have a total of 164 of those phones in stock," Malaya said, looking at Zachary in surprise. "With a 10% discount, the total would be $221,400. Are you sure you want to purchase all of them?"

"Thank you, Malaya. I'm glad to hear that," Zachary said, nodding. "I'll take care of the payment now."

Zachary smiled at Malaya and added, "I don't want to make things too complicated for you, Malaya. So don't worry, I won't buy all these phones with cash. I'll be paying with my card."

Malaya beamed with gratitude. "Thank you so much, Zachary."

The store manager entered the shop as they waited for the payment to process. "I heard there's been quite a big purchase made today," the manager said with a smile.

Zachary nodded and held up his card. "Yes. Hope it won't cause too much trouble."

The manager's eyes widened in surprise. "That's certainly an impressive purchase," the manager said. "But it won't be a problem at all. We're happy to accommodate such a large transaction."

Zachary smiled and added, "By the way, I expect Malaya to receive the full commission for this sale. She's been accommodating throughout the process, and I think she deserves it."

The manager nodded in agreement. "Of course, we always ensure our employees are properly compensated for their hard work," he said.

Zachary then handed his card over to Malaya to begin the transaction process. Rashad, who had been quiet throughout the ordeal, stood by, watching with shock and jealousy.

"You know, I think this store could make even more sales with a better employee," Zachary suggested, casting a pointed look at Rashad.

The manager realized the truth in Zachary's words and nodded in agreement. He turned to Rashad with a stern expression. "Rashad, I believe you owe Zachary an apology," the manager said firmly.

Rashad's face turned red, and he looked like he was about to protest, but then he sighed and muttered an apology. "I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to be disrespectful earlier," he said.

Zachary nodded graciously and then turned back to Malaya to finish the payment process.

As soon as Zachary left the store, he hailed his waiting car and hopped into the back seat. He asked the driver to take him to the nearest luxury real estate agency.

With his newfound financial freedom, he no longer had to worry about money and wanted to choose a place that was close to his university.

Zachary strolled up to the model display of houses and villas and spotted a couple, Kash and his girlfriend. He remembered her name was Paige, as she had quite a following at his university.

Kash was known for his opulent lifestyle. Despite Kash's well-known immense wealth, he was intimidated by Quilly Ara's kinship and higher social status.

Kash was dressed in casual yet expensive clothing, sporting designer jeans, and a crisp white shirt. It was apparent to anyone who saw him that he was a man of considerable means.

"This apartment has breathtaking city views, natural light, top-of-the-line appliances, and plenty of amenities, including a fitness center, pool, and rooftop terrace," the salesperson explained to Kash and Paige.

Paige grabbed Kash's hand and said, "I want this."

Kash laughed and replied, "As long as you like it, that's all that matters."

The salesperson smiled and said, "There's only one unit left in this apartment."

Kash pulled out his black card and handed it to the salesperson. The salesperson inserted the card into the machine, but after a few seconds, the machine beeped with an error message.

Kash's frustration was evident on his face, "What's going on? That should be more than enough to pay the deposit for this property."

The salesperson looked apologetic, "I'm sorry, sir, but the payment didn't go through."

Kash's anger was rising, "That's impossible. I have around $300,000 in my account."

The salesperson replied, "I understand, sir, but this luxury property must be paid in full, which means you need to pay $2.3 million."

Kash was still skeptical, "But I've bought luxury properties before, and I've never had to pay in full on the first purchase. Why can't I pay the deposit and then pay the rest off over time?"

Kash knew he couldn't get two million dollars in his account now, but he didn't want to admit it to the sales representative. And he certainly didn't want to call his father and ask for money in front of his girlfriend.

The salesperson nodded sympathetically, "Unfortunately, our policy is firm. This property must be paid in full."

Kash, angry, feeling defeated, "I want to meet the manager."

The salesperson tried to remain calm, "I understand your frustration, sir, but even if you speak with the manager, our policy will remain the same."

Kash's frustration boiled over, "This is ridiculous. I don't understand why you can't make an exception for me. You do know who I am. I'm the son of the owner of the biggest construction company in this city. My father's name is well-known in this industry, and I can't believe you're treating me like this."

As he was about to continue, he noticed a familiar face in the corner of his eye. "Zachary? What are you doing here?" he asked in surprise. "Are you working as a cleaner here?" he said with a hint of sarcasm.
