Chasing After a Ghost II

What Gerald fell through is a hole on the ground. There’s actually a trap door that’s in the middle of the second floor’s tiles. It isn’t noticeable and looks a lot like any other part of the floor. The gang obviously never knew about this. That’s why they even have a carpet placed in the middle of the second floor. Covering this same hole in the process and, it’s because of this same carpet that Gerald fell through.

The carpet covered him and prevented him from moving. Because of this, there’s nothing stopping the beating that came after. He felt something hard and heavy hit his body. He tried to fight back with his monstrous strength but, because of how sudden the whole thing is and, because of how effective the carpet is in minimizing his movement as well as blocking his vision, he isn’t able to fight back. The clobbering simply continued and as it did, Gerald kept on screaming.

“YOU’RE DEAD!” He said as he squirmed with all his might. But this threat of his didn’t work at all. If anything, it just made the battering heavier, faster, and stronger.

Gerald felt like an eternity has passed but, it didn’t actually take less than two minutes for the beating to stop. And it only did because he finally stopped moving and, with this, came blood that drenched the carpet.

“Man, you’re really a wild beast huh.” Daemon said as he used the metal beam on his hand as a staff. The teen is short of breath after having to hit his target consistently with a heavy object. But now he has one less person to worry about. All that’s left is Haze who, finally came at that moment.

“Stop!” Daemon heard the sound of a gun being cocked, along with a voice that he can’t mistake for anyone else.

“Hey, its been a while.” Daemon said as he turned around with a grin on his lips.

Sure enough Haze is there right on top of him. Peeking through the hole with a gun on his right hand and a flashlight on his left. This gave Haze a clear view of who it is that he’s talking to – making his eyes widen in shock.

“D-Daemon?”

“In the flesh.” Daemon made a step and, as soon as he did, a gunshot resounded.

“Don’t move! Don’t fucking move.” Haze frantically ordered as his shot missed – only being able to graze Daemon’s cheek.

“You really pulled the trigger on me huh. Guess our friendship meant nothing to you.” Daemon said.

“No. Y-You’re supposed to be dead.” Haze added.

“Ouch, and here I was thinking that you’d actually be glad that I’m alive.” Daemon replied.

Unlike Haze who’s in a state of shock, anxiety, fear, and confusion, Daemon’s mind is completely clear. He can think straight even with the threat of being killed by Haze being as real as could be. With the gun still pointed at him.

“Where’s Gerald? What did you do with him?” Haze asked.

“He’s here.” Daemon said, tapping the carpet with his steel staff.

“Y-You killed him?”

Daemon watched as the color on Haze’s face paled. Just like Grant, facing him has hardwired the brain of the teen into thinking that this is a ghost. And it’s a ghost that just clobbered Gerald.

“He’s still alive. I mean, he’s barely breathing but you can still take him to the hospital.”

“Get him up here.” Haze ordered.

“Or what?” Daemon asked as a second shot is fired.

This time it’s pointed to the ceiling so Daemon isn’t hurt. Haze simply used this to scare him. Though the tactic won’t work no matter how many bullets are fired. Not with Daemon being immune to all negative effects to his mind.

“Take him up before I really kill you.” Haze ordered as he cocked his gun again. “Now!”

Daemon breathed a deep sigh. “Goodness, we’re really doing this huh."

“P-Please Daemon. I won’t kill you. Just do as I say.” Haze’s voice began to shake and his eyes started getting watery as well. “I promise I’ll protect you this time.”

This made Daemon look at him one more time. They stared into one another’s eyes and, for a moment, Daemon could see the person he knew before. Making him almost want to forgive him… but he’s not taking any chances.

*RIIIIING*

A loud sound came from Haze’s back, making him turn his head for a moment to look at it. There’s no danger to his life after all. Daemon is below him and he has a gun pointed at the teen. He moved his head almost instinctively just to make sure that he isn’t in danger. And as soon as he did, another gunshot fired. But this time…it isn’t from his gun.

Haze turned to look and horror is drawn on his face as he saw Daemon holding a pistol. One which made three more gunshots before coming to a halt. Hitting Haze on his shoulder blade, his legs, his chest, and his arm.

“D-Daemon…”

Three more shots are fired by Daemon before he finally stopped. Hitting Haze in his other leg, his stomach and…his head. Haze dropped from where he stood and right into the same hole where Gerald is.

“You really thought I’d accept your apology after all this time?” Daemon released on least bullet into Haze’s temple. “Go fuck yourself.”

As soon as he did this, the bodies of both Haze and Gerald began to glow in a soft red light. As this happened, Daemon placed the gun he used over Haze’s body and continued watching as the bodies of these two that he murdered began to vanish from existence and, after three more seconds, nothing is left.

Gerald and Haze’s body both vanished. With this is the disappearance of the carpet around Gerald’s body and the gun that Daemon placed on top of Haze. A silence filled the air as soon as everything finished and, not a second too late, Daemon received his rewards.
