Daemon passed through the rooftop’s door and left it slightly ajar. As soon as he did, the student fell to his knees. His fingers are still trembling and his whole body feels cold and hot at the same time. A sensation that shouldn’t even be possible and yet there he is. He would’ve even thrown up if not for him stopping himself.
“This is a lot more nerve wrecking than I thought.” Daemon muttered to himself as he forced his body to get ack up. An attempt that proved to be unsuccessful right away.
There’s just no energy left in his legs after what he just did. Even with all the cocky talk he had with Astaroth about being ready to kill, in the end, he’s also human. Inflicted by the same plagues of morality that will eventually make it harder for him to extract the next parts of his revenge.
“I didn’t even have to kill him directly but I’m already left in this state.” Daemon chuckled. “I’m so pathetic.”
He really wanted to push Grant off the rooftop. He did. But he just doesn’t have enough will to push through with the act. Even leaving him bleeding out is already plaguing Daemon’s conscience. That’s why he needed to get away right before Grant dies.
Cold sweat continued forming around Daemon’s body. But the only thing he can think of is the death of Grant. This is the requirement for him to receive the [System] after all. But then, as he waited, another thought came across his head.
What if Astaroth lied? What if the person he met won’t actually give him powers but, just wants him to kill a person? What if all that Daemon gets from this is time in prison? What if this will only lead to more hardships for him. He can’t help but think of these things a she waited for he is only human and, all his life, he’s only received deception after all.
But this time it’s different. He didn’t make an agreement with another huamn. He made a deal with the devil. And a devil, even with all their malice, never lies.
[Congratulations! You have unlocked the System.]
A red game like screen appeared right in front of Daemon. This took him by surprise and made him hit the wall behind him. As soon as he did though, there is a strange feeling that overcame him. All of a sudden, the thoughts that lingered from killing Grant vanished completely.
He doesn’t feel lightheaded anymore, nor is he nervous about what he just did. What he has at that moment is more clarity than he’s ever experienced in his entire life. A calm that he now only enjoys and, the reason for this appeared on the same game like window.
[You finished the initial part of the Primary Quest]
[You have acquired a new skill - Mind Cleanse]
[Skill Information: Grants immunity from negative effects on the mind.]
Daemon can’t help but chuckle again after reading this. Now that the power is actually granted to him, he’s left in a state of disbelief.
[The Seed of Cultivation has awakened in your body.]
[Once all three parts of the First Quest is finished, the true cultivation will begin.]
“Cultivation huh.” Daemon murmured.
He remembered the conversation he had with Astaroth before he left. About how the cultivation is basically in the form of leveling up.
“That’s a concept I keep on reading on these novels. It’s actually pretty cool! Can you imagine getting powers through a game-like feature?” Astaroth said to him with much enthusiasm. “Anyway, it took me some time to gather all the powers necessary to even attempt this. So you better be grateful to me mortal.”
Now that he thinks about it, Astaroth is the first being that’s ever been good to him after his parents died. The funny thing about this is that Astaroth isn’t even a human. He’s a demon, though Daemon doesn’t know this as a fact yet. What he does know is that, he has two other parts of his quest that he needs to finish.
[First Part – Kill Grant]
[Completed]
[Second Part – Kill Haze]
[In Progress]
[Third Part – Kill Gerald]
[In Progress]
“So I just need to kill the three responsible for my murder huh? Sounds easy enough.” Daemon said nonchalantly.
The first skill he gained is working in full effect. He really doesn’t feel any negative effects at all. In fact, he’s already beginning to plot how he’s going to kill the other two. But just as he began to think of this, a flashlight suddenly hit the stairs.
“Hello? Is anyone up there?”
Daemon slowly got back to his feet. Normally, he’d bolt up because of nervousness but, [Mind Cleanse] helped him not feel nervous at that moment. Allowing him to think clearly on what he has to do.
“Hello?"
That’s the voice of the guard of the school’s night shift. Daemon’s able to bypass this person because he went through a blind spot he learned because of the bullies. This is where they’ll pass through whenever they take too long beating him up within school premises.Ironically, it’s the same route that Daemon used to take his revenge…and it felt good.
“I know someone’s up there.” The guard began to take steps up.
As he did, Daemon matched the steps with his own. Making the lightest of steps as he took off his shoes as well. He then went for the door of the rooftop which is just within reach. There is a mild creak that this would’ve created, if not for the fact that it’s still open.
This allowed Daemon to pass through without making any sound and, move as swiftly as he could to where he left Grant’s corpse. This is the biggest problem at the moment. He can easily hide himself but the corpse is a different matter altogether.
Time is of the essence and, thankfully, even with all of this happening, he can still think clearly. That’s why he isn’t shocked when Grant’s corpse is missing. A system message appeared in front of him at that moment but, Daemon doesn’t have time to read it because, in that moment, the guard’s light hit the rooftop.
“Hello?”The guard flashed his light across the whole of the rooftop. Looking thoroughly at the entirety of the place. As he did this, another person caught up to him. A second guard that he called to assist him.“Well? Found anything Brian?” The other guard asked as he also flashed his light, moving it across the parts where his partner’s light doesn’t reach. It’s not possible for them to get a blind spot because, even if someone moves to the darkest part of the rooftop where the light can’t reach, they can’t outrun the movement of the flashlight, nor predict where it’s headed. That being said, the two of them found nothing there. Not a single soul.“See?” Mark, the second guard said as he slapped the back of his partner’s neck. “I told you there’s nobody here.”“That’s strange. I could’ve sword I saw someone move up here.” Brian said, giving one last attempt at scanning the area. But to no avail. Other than the two of them, there isn’t anyone else there.“Cut that out man, you’re gi
Grant isn’t the vilest student in the Academy. Although this is the one who tripped Daemon off the rooftop, there are many who are on the same level as him. That’s right. It isn’t just Grant, Gerald, and Haze who are evil. There are more that’s just as wicked and… there are a few who’re viler.“Yo!” Haze greeted Gerald who just arrived at the Club House. A special place that’s built for the elite members of the Academy.Though it’s called as a club house, it’s much more of a mansion. There is a three-floor mansion that’s at the center and, on the side is a pool where students are freely laughing and swimming. Men in black suits and shades are also stationed around the whole area. Securing both the students and the place itself. On the far right is the parking lot. This is where both Haze and Gerald parked their own cars. Two Shelby Mustangs which is the same as the one that Grant drives as well.“Got any idea why he called us this late?” Gerald asked right as he locked his car.The te
Christian, Yvonne, and Damian. All three of them are high profile individuals because of who their parents are. Christian is the son of Alexander Aster, the favorite to win the mayoral election. Then there’s Yvonne Summers, daughter of the Academy’s Head. A prestigious school where all of the sons and daughters of wealthy individuals attend because of the quality of education.Last, but definitely not the least, is Damian Silvers; son of the number one gaming company’s CEO. He’s also the world champion for most of their games which made his name that much more prominentThis is the reason why Christian can’t lay a hand on any of the two. They are just as important as him. They are valuable individuals who spreads his sphere of influence and, they benefit the same thing from him. They are like parasites feeding on each other. But that doesn’t mean that they get along perfectly – because they don’t.“Hey, why did you stop me earlier?” Christian asked the two as soon as Haze and Gerald l
What Gerald fell through is a hole on the ground. There’s actually a trap door that’s in the middle of the second floor’s tiles. It isn’t noticeable and looks a lot like any other part of the floor. The gang obviously never knew about this. That’s why they even have a carpet placed in the middle of the second floor. Covering this same hole in the process and, it’s because of this same carpet that Gerald fell through. The carpet covered him and prevented him from moving. Because of this, there’s nothing stopping the beating that came after. He felt something hard and heavy hit his body. He tried to fight back with his monstrous strength but, because of how sudden the whole thing is and, because of how effective the carpet is in minimizing his movement as well as blocking his vision, he isn’t able to fight back. The clobbering simply continued and as it did, Gerald kept on screaming.“YOU’RE DEAD!” He said as he squirmed with all his might. But this threat of his didn’t work at all. If
Daemon felt a warmth at the core of his body. Right at his navel which slowly crawls towards every vein inside of him. A sensation that calmed him and revitalized his body. Washing away all of the sweat that built up from the ordeal he had to go through. It’s almost like he’s being reborn. That is the sensation in its simplest sense. Daemon’s body is going through rebirth which isn’t even a joke. His muscles began to form and show from his skin and even his height began to change, making him taller than he actually is. Then came the changing of his hair’s color – becoming ash gray. In the middle of a white and black color. His body is covered in steam and, this burns through all of the scars that he has across his body. Erasing each and every one without leaving a trace. Even the graze wound on his cheek began to heal. And with all of this happening, new notifications popped out.[New Skill Reward: Lesser Regeneration][Information: Grants greater healing that heals through surface wo
“What’s taking them so long?”Christian waited in the third-floor lounge. The moon’s already reached its peak and the noise made by the students having the time of their lives died down hours ago. The clock has passed twelve yet, Haze and Gerald haven’t given him any response yet.His phone is dead silent. Not even a single message is sent to him by the students in question. This wouldn’t piss him off as much if not for the fact that it’s past midnight. Both Yvonne and Damian have left an hour ago already. They told him to just rest and wait for a reply tomorrow but Christian doesn’t want to. He wants to get news right away and he wants it to be a positive one. After all, the pressure is on him since its his father’s candidacy that’s at stake here.“Those good for nothing bastards! I’m gonna skin them alive if I see them again!” He screamed again, thrashing the room and breaking an expensive vase within the room. Making one of the guards enter to look at what happened – one who has so
“Go fuck yourselves.”These are the words that came out of Daemon’s lips as soon as the requirement is explained to him. Something which he still refused to do. There doesn’t need to be an explanation why. Anyone would find this task outrageous, especially with all the laws governing society getting in his way. As well as the potential to get caught up in more danger once he kills the wrong individuals.[Astaroth (Asta): Whoa, easy with the language kid.][Baphomet (Baph): Yeah, why are you being so feisty all of a sudden? It’s not as bad as it seems.]“It is as bad as it seems.” Daemon defended though there’s really no need for him to do this for something that should be common sense. “You want me to kill a hundred more humans? How am I gonna do that?”[Asta: You’re exaggerating. Killing is basically how your cultivation system operates. You’d get to a hundred in no time at all.]I guess that part’s true. Daemon thought of this logically. He’s having an argument with the demons. He’s
The Academy. That’s the name of the most prestigious school existing within the Metropolitan city. All of the sons and daughters of wealthy and influential people, as well as the gifted students, all of these individuals are gathered here. And for a good reason. The quality of education within the Academy is second to none. Whatever talent or ability one has when entering or, even if someone doesn’t possess any, by the time they graduate, they will have everything they need to be successful in life. And by this, the most important aspect that’s gained by studying here is none other than connections.Every kind of connection that a person would need in his lifetime can be gained here. But that also means that this is a place where those connections can be lost as well. Since this is a school for the elites, there is a culling that happens within it as well. Where the weak do not stand the test of time and get expelled, kicked out, dropped, or voluntarily exits.Daemon never experienced
The night is still young just as Daemon said. There is room for him to do a couple of things and, this is probably for the best. If he doesn’t act fast, then his enemies will be able to catch on to the news the following day. As soon as it spreads that the five transferees suddenly vanished, it would be close to impossible for him to make any moves any time soon.He can’t have this. It’s too early for Daemon to give up and, that is the reason why he has now come up with a plan for his revenge to continue flawlessly again. In fact, this is an idea that’s already floating in his head, even before he began the execution of the five transferees. That is, taking down the main target of the quest itself – Damian Silvers.Normally this would be impossible for Daemon to do. With everything that’s going on, it’d be safe to assume that Damian Silvers would be on his guard. But Dameon knows that nothing can be farther from the truth because, it is this very same appearance of the five transferee
One thing that Daemon didn’t lie about is the time limit. As soon as thirty minutes pass, the thing that’s stopping any signal and electricity from running in that building will stop. This limitation isn’t, by any means, the fault of Daemon’s ally, Cypher. No. In fact, Cypher can extend this hacking for as long as half a day’s worth of time. However, there are various reasons why they didn’t do this. The first is because, anything longer than thirty minutes will get the attention of the authority that handles the school. Inevitably, this will lead to the signal being traced back to the source. Meaning that Cypher would be found out and, Daemon can’t have something like this happening. The second is because, Daemon doesn’t actually need this much time. Not at all. Thirty minutes is more than enough for what he needs to happen. That is, to kill every member of Derek’s team – all five of them. Daemon didn’t show any mercy to these guys. Or perhaps he actually did.Though he did make Dere
A long stretch of silence surrounded Derek and Daemon. The eyes of Derek’s enemy is still stuck on his. Gazing at him as if seeing through his lies. He can feel the cold becoming all too personal. Touching his skin and digging through it violently. He felt his lungs seemingly begin lacking air. He can also feel his throat drying up. There are beads of sweat that are beginning to form all over his skin and, he can’t stop some of his fingers from trembling. Forcing him to clench them into a fist so as to hide this.Derek’s caught. He doesn’t know how something like this is possible with how meticulous he’s been throughout the whole week but, it seems that Daemon’s caught on somehow. Yet, even though this is the case, he still decided to feign ignorance. After all, as long as there’s no evidence, there’s no proof of the claim that Daemon is making.“What are you talking about Daemon?” He said. “Why don’t we just go back to eating huh? You shouldn’t joke about stuff like that. I don’t wan
The day of the mission’s execution finally came. Derek stayed in the rooftop, making sure that everything else is set before Daemon gets to the appointed destination. They all focused on their own roles and, frankly speaking, there was a bit of trouble with Lee who engaged with Bellatrix and almost fought her. This happened while Daemon was also with the said female so that could’ve led to something that none of the other four wanted.Thankfully, probably through some divine intervention, Lee didn’t push through with this act of stupidity. He stopped right before committing anything that’s irreparable for the mission. With that out of the way, everything proceeded flawlessly through the leadership of Derek. That being said, Derek is now waiting for everyone else to come at the rooftop. It’s almost time for Daemon’s execution but none of his four allies are there yet. Something that causes him a bit of worry especially since none of them are also answering their phones. The problem wit
Five days have passed. Within this time, Derek’s group has been carefully crafting their plan in order to kill Daemon. That is all that they came here for after all. With the weekends soon approaching they will finally get their chance into doing this.Naturally, it is Lee who is the most excited and thrilled. This teen has been waiting for his chance to have a go at Daemon after all. That’s the only reason he agreed to go along with this mission and, the same reason why he decided to goa long with Desmond’s plans.Though now that it is slowly getting closer and closer, Lee is getting more and more impatient. Each passing day, the only thing that you’d hear coming out of his mouth is how he wants to fight Daemon already. He talks about how he wants to do this as soon as possible so that he can show that he is superior in terms of fighting. All while him gaining the thrill from the bouts as well.Nevertheless, Derek decided that they should wait. After all, this whole ordeal has been c
While Daemon continued plotting and concocting all of his revenge bin the human world, the demon lords backing him up are having some time for themselves as well. Specifically, the three of them gathered for a sort conversation. It doesn’t happen often but, when it does, it means that all three of them are in a good mood. Something that doesn’t happen often because of Azzael’s temperament as well as Baphomet.Among the three of them, it is only Astaroth who is almost always positive. It’s a mystery for all those who know the demon lord how it is that he can keep being this way. After all, there’s nothing that can cause joy in the depths of hell. The only thing that exists there is darkness and suffering and yet, Astaroth remained the only creature capable of constantly being full f life and energy – a contrast to what he is. One of those given the role as the highest torturer of hell. The three demon lords gathered in Azazael’s abode. Instead of going to Astaroth’s where they normally
“What do you think?”Snake sat in the middle of a room with a large screen ion front of him. Here, Daemon Stark is being displayed. It shows the footage of Daemon’s fight in the forest, as well as the current data that’s held about the said boy.Beside him is the person that he’s talking to. A woman who has pronounced curves yet, has an aura that’d make any man turn tail and run. And this woman gave a response.“I think you didn’t send enough people.”The thing the woman is referring to is, of course, the mission that’s being done within the grounds of the Academy. She doesn’t believe that the five that are sent there would be enough to take down the target. They won’t be enough to eliminate the threat that is Daemon Stark.“Really now? Aren’t you overestimating the boy too much? Is that because you’ve taken a liking to him?” Snake joked.“Don’t act all friendly with me. We both know that I’m only here because of THEM.” The woman said in a hostile voice.“Of course. That’s why I’m kee
Classes in the afternoon ended well for Daemon. There’s nothing eventful that happened and he continued interacting with the five transfer students from the Viper Gang. He hates their guts of course and would like to get rid of them as soon as he can. But that is just not possible without the right preparations being in place.Part of this is getting more intel. The more information he has, the better his preparations will be. That’s why he’s doing just this. Gathering information from his most useful informant, none other than Yvonne Summers herself. The two of them met inside the student council room. It is already after hours so there are no students that would be coming here. Plus, nobody would dare enter the student council room on their own. Not with the rule being made that they can’t go there afterhours. Thus, the meeting of Daemon and Yvonne is secured. There is nobody else that would come. Just like every other time that this happened, Yvonne is at the mercy of Daemon Stark
The following day, Derek and the other five attended the classes. Before that, they had a short discussion over breakfast. Here, Derek specifically reminded them to not do anything that isn’t within the plans. His allies gladly agreed to this because they won’t have it any other way. Even Lee is the same though this person is a bit reluctant. That being said, they acted like regular students which isn’t hard to do actually. They just have to be normal and not create unnecessary friction. They need to stay lowkey as much as possible as well so that they don’t get any unnecessary attention. Though this last part is difficult to do because of what happened as soon as they stepped foot inside the room.“Hey guys! Over here.” Daemon said, waving his hands high up in the air and even standing. This made everyone else in the room look at Daemon, and then towards the five transferees. Forget not being noticed. Getting themselves together with Daemon is gonna make them as noticed as possible.
