The Chance

CHAPTER ONE: THE NIGHT OF MISFORTUNE

It was a gloomy night without the moon in sight. A luxurious black car parked and two black, shiny, Italian shoes could be seen stepping on the tarred road. Jim, popularly known as "J" in the Assassin's world and notorious for his quick elimination, brutality and swiftness in operations, had a stern expression worn on his scarred face as he stared at the black gate to the mansion before him.

"Kruger, you know what to do, right?" He asked aloud, as if speaking to the nothingness around.

"Yes, boss." A shadow appeared from nowhere in the darkness and responded. Nonetheless, J wasn't a bit fazed by this, he was aware of Kruger's presence beforehand after all. He simply reached into his chest pocket and took out a cigar and a lighter, acting as though he only parked to take a few puff.

"Good. You're to hack into the security system of the base. Our Intel says that the mark is tightly secured and monitored closely by expert agents. Fast and swiftly, don't hesitate to do the needful. Understood?" He asked as he lit the cigar.

"Yes, boss", Kruger was a man of short word

"Now go!" J ordered and as soon as Kruger disappeared into the darkness of the night just as he appeared, more shadowy figures emerge.

"When Kruger is done, we make our move into the mansion with full force. I want no mistakes, do you all hear me

"Yes Boss" the figures replied in unison.

"Python, you are to firstly jump over the gate after which we also jump after you when Kruger is done with his job. You are to knock out the gateman to prevent him from calling the security when he sense something, and then watch out for any emergency situation,do you understand? Jim aske

Yes sir, what if the gateman make it difficult, should I kill him Boss?" the hungry looking python asked.

"If you know he is going to cause problem for us just clear him, I don't want anything or anybody to jeopardize our plan. You know the VIP won't hear any of that." J reminded them as he hate flaws.

On the other hand inside the mansion,shows the well- arranged, attractive and luxurious interior design of the mansion. The interior was plastered in white the queen of all colours. The living room's beauty is captivating as it vomit all forms of enticing colours from her mouth. The couches were made of real animal skins which were rare to find in just any house. The dining room is also a view you can't walk pass without admiring it as the chairs were also made of deep animal skins.

The mansion emitted a different aura which express the class of the owner of the house. without no doubt, the owner of the house is well-heeled and highly influential.

Alex just got home not quite long and immediately went to have his shower in the bathroom with his wife Sandra who had been waiting for him since as he came home late from work.

He came home late after a stressful day coupled with the issue he resolved which had to do with his younger brother Davis. Davis borrowed money from a bank and after he collected the money, for almost two years he didn't pay and even had the temerity to direct the bank to come to the main office which is the chairman's office when he was threatened to retrieve the money there.He had to resolve the issue and lashed out at his brother Davis which led to argument between the two of them and Davis walked out on him during the conversation.

The two adults played in the bathtub splashing water on each other just as they normally do whenever they bathe together in the bathroom although, the night was different as they at interval just hug each other,then play a little and return back to the hugging posture.

This was their daily ritual everyday Alex comes back from office,they both shower together unless one of them is not around and this has helped strengthen their love for each other. After they showered, they put on their night wears and moved to the dining table for their dinner since Sandra won't eat until her husband comes back from the office.

"Where is my boy?" Alex asked Sandra after she served the meal and sat down to join him to eat together.

"He slept off while waiting for you and I carried him to his room,"She said to him smiling. She knows how deeply he loves his son.

"That's good since I am not going to work tomorrow, I'm planning to take him out if you don't mind,"he said teasingly and put a spoon of rice in his mouth.

"I mind Mr.Alex and therefore you can't take my son out tommorow." She said playing along with her husband.

" Sorry ma,then why don't we all go out tommorow then or what do you think?" he asked shaking his eyes like a puppy requesting for food.

" Hmmmm I will think about that, you think you can use that to bribe me? are you sure it will work?" Sandra asked as she's enjoying the game she's playing with her him.

" Yeah, I believe it will work" Alex said convincingly.

" Then you won just as you believed. It has been long we've gone out together let us do that tomorrow". She said with her face beaming with smile as if she had been waiting for Alex to suggest that as it had been long they did that courtesy of work.

Then they continued eating with both of them feeding each other at interval. The love between the duo is something people have come to admire because of the way they do their things. Another example of the kind of love they share is the issue of cooking.

Considering the fact that they are people of high repute, they have the capacity to employ people who will be cooking for them just as it's common with the wealthy people but funny enough, Since the time they got married up till this moment, Sandra had been the one cooking the meals and if not for the intervention of Alex concerning the issue of cleaning,she had already concluded to be doing that and just to obey her husband, the maids cleaning come to clean in the morning and leave in the evening.

This has been the way they've been living and has continue to strengthen their love for each other. This may be due to the fact that unlike Alex other siblings who married the ladies suggested by their father Chairman Brown for the company's sake , Alex married Sandra out of lov

He met Sandra at one restaurant she was working and it was love at first sight for him. Sandra is a beautiful and elegant lady,tall and endowed. It is not surprising that he fell for her.

To confirm what he had for her, he started visiting the place at leisure time and after a while,he expressed his feelings for her which she firstly rejected due to fear of Alex status.

But she later accepted him, when she saw his unrelenting spirit and Alex took her to his father who bluntly rejected her when he confirmed her status with the reason being that she belonged to a low class family, and so won't be of benefit to the Brown empire.

This reason Alex didn't agree with,because he fell for her simplicity, humility and beauty.Because of this he and his father had a conflict. After a lot of confrontations and challenges his father finally consented to the marriage which produced a son called Ven before his deat

After they were done with their food, Sandra packed the plate to the kitchen after which they went upstairs to sleep oblivious of what is going on around them.

Kruger started the work in earnest,he had a tough time hacking into the security system because it was designed specially since that was the house for the chairman of the Brown's empire. After battling with the system longer than he expected, kruger hacked into the system and disconnected the systems used by the security to observe the environment and unlocked the passcode into the mansion.

"Boss have hacked into the system," Kruger said with a tone of victory.

"Good, so python it's now your turn to do your job,"J instructed.

"Ok boss,he said then put on his mask and took the necessary weapons with him and got out of the car.

Python after accomplishing the task given to him alerted J on the situation of things.J satisfied with the outcome of things then ordered them to get ready for the main battle since Python was able to knock out the gateman and tied his mouth, two hands and legs together and then took over the gate as that was the instruction giving to him by his boss.

Jim then ordered them to get ready for the main battle since they had been informed of having a clash with the security agents who they were likely to counter with when they infiltrate the mansion.

Jim and his men got themselves ready for the next line of action,armed with guns and bullets then invaded the mansion since the gateman and the gate had been cleared earlier by python and tied together. As they were moving closer to the building,one of the men unknowingly touched one of the cars which was a security programmed vehicle.

This car started making noise which in turn alerted the security agents of the danger looming.They also observed that someone had hacked into the mansion security system as the system lost signal, and thus without wasting the little time left, stood up for battle.

The security guards gathered themselves they were six in number and proceeded to secure the mansion since they know that the chairman and his family are in danger.

J suspecting that the security guards were coming after them since the car had alerted them of the situation then ordered his men to hide in different places in readiness for the attack. The mansion security guards just came rushing unaware of the fact that the shadow squad are hidden all over the places.

Jim after confirming that the security guards were oblivious of the situation of things,fired a shot at one of them and the man slumped and died

The security guards saw that they were in a danger zone also started shooting while one of the security Men known as kelvin was instructed to enter the house to inform Alex and his wife with their child Ven about the current situation and to help them escape while they buy time by exchanging bullet with the assassins.

Kevin entered the house and went upstairs directly to Alex room and knocked on the door while also looking back to confirm whether they've not barged into the mansion.

"Who is at the door?" Alex asked terrified( this is because he knew nobody could get into the mansion just as they like unless something strange happened.

"It's me Alex one of the security guards, Alex replied still expecting him to open the door.

"Why are you here at this hour or did something happen? Alex asked as he opened the door.

"Sir, there are assassins here in the house presently and they've almost killed all the security agents. That is why I'm here so that we can run away right now before they infiltrate this main building.

Wha.. what he ( stammered)", Alex said shocked because it looked strange to him considering the fact that the mansion was secured in such a way that nobody could just barge in as they like. It has happened already and knows he must not waste time again. He then instructed Kelvin to go and get Ven while he quickly dress up and get ready to leave the mansion.

Sandra was chilled to the marrow when she learnt of this with anxiety dressed up and get ready to flee. Thanks to the other door, they were able to leave in Sandra's car and drove fast as far as they could go.

J and his gang after eliminating the security agents barged into the mansion to do just as instructed entered. They searched everywhere for them but could not find them to no avail but to their dismay, they only found a door opened.

They were shocked to confirm that they escaped through the door they didn't know existed because they went through the house plan and structure before they attacked.They hurriedly ran out of the building to their car and they started chasing them in hot pursuit.

Kelvin was also driving the car swiftly but in the course of driving like that, the car hit a tree and stopped.

Alex who was terrified of the assassins meeting them at that point told kelvin to take Ven and run away as far as his legs could take him away from his family,he should protect his son and help him as much as possible in retrieving what rightly belongs to him. He also gave him a diary to keep and give to Ven at the right time. He asked kelvin to promise him he was going to do that for him,in which kelvin replied in the affirmative. After this, kelvin took Ven and flee. Sandra was crying profusely with Alex assuring her that he would be fine as Kelvin will take care of him well

J and his men got to their car and dragged them outside to kill them since time has gone and it would soon be dawn.

"Please, please, please don't kill us, we will give you anything you need, please don't kill us."Alex pleaded in fear.

"Don't beg me as the life of all your family members has been paid for."J said smiling coldly at the two young couples.

"But before I eliminate you, where is your child?" He asked them.

" We don't know",Alex said boldly.

" okay, since you don't know, don't let me waste your time, let me send you to where your grandparents are". J said mischievously as he brought out his gun.

" Who sent you people or is it Davis?" Alex asked. He knew he was going to die but knowing who killed him was worth asking.

" we don't reveal the identity of our client. Goodbye!!!" J said and gunned them down.

After this,he called the unknown and told him of the outcome of the operation. The unknown asked of the child and Jim afraid of the outburst of the unknown lied that Ven was dead but only the security guard was able to escape. The unknown was known for not overlooking even the slightest of a mistake. He lied that he was killed with his parents so there was no cause for alarm. The unknown ordered them to burn the body and the car to erase all traces of implicating evidence after which he hung up the phone.

Jim ordered the boys to carry the corpses back into the car and requested Kruger to go and fetch gasoline and lighter from the boot of the car. Jim emptied the keg of gasoline on the car and used a lighter to set the car on fire. After doing that,they hurried to their car and left the place.

The Unknown

Thank God the idiot is dead. If only he heed to my warning it won't have happened but fools learn through the hard way . At least,my secret now will remain a secret forever Haaaaaaaaa!!!. Funny enough his family who could have revenged for him died with him for a sin he only committed. I pray their souls rest in perfect peace. Haaaaaaaahaaaa, Haaaaaaaaha, Haaaaaaahaaa( he continued laughing).
