CHAPTER SEVEN: The First Training Task

The journey to Qawm was a silent journey for the newly employed staffs. Everybody was busy dwelling in his or her own thought till they arrived at Qawm. It is a town close to Kandon and also an important place for Brown because it has to do with the foundation of the Empire.

"We're not going to commence the training today, but tommorow. Today would only be to organize you into groups for the training and give you some tips on how this training is going to be," Mr.Steff said to them.

" Since you are six in numbers,then we're going to create two groups with three people in each group. For Team A ,we have Richard Joel,Joy Prisis and Ken light. Then for Team B, we have Daniella Eva, Olivia Grace and Ven Kelvin."He said to them with a tone of finality.

He has gotten use to this kind of duty since he has been the one in charge of this screening exercise for years.

" We're done with sorting out the group now to the main business. This training entails everything you need to understand about the (special unit)."

" Therefore at the end of the training, the group with the highest winning rate would be the one to work directly with the special unit giving such group the opportunity to work for the Brown family directly.The other group members would be dispatched to other units to work." He said and could feel the tension that filled the room after announcing this.

After the brief announcement,they were shown their rooms which they will use till the end of the training.

The men were to use a big room with the girls also to do the same. This is to make them develop a strong feeling of trust before they start working for the Empire. Since they had a tough job ahead of them, they were to rest for that day and not work. They were all curious of what the training entails and were thinking of this till they slept off.

The next day after dressing up and doing the necessary things, they were all told to assemble as the training begins immediately. The training for the day would be based on Physical fitness just as they were told that special unit had to be skilled in defense to an extent since they might have to defend any member of the Brown family in the future.

After making sure that they've all assembled as instructed with nobody missing,Mr.Steff then opted to begin as early as possible.

"Good morning everybody, hope you all slept well?" Mr.Steff asked them smiling,he needed to do that to calm them down as he could read the anxiety written on their faces with the curiosity on their faces calling for clarification.

" Good morning Sir,we all slept well'' they replied him oblivious of the morning announcement.

" Good, I'm sure you all enjoyed and slept well considering the fact that the company took extra care in making sure that we all have a good time with the screening and training."

" Today's training won't be as consuming as I'm sure you all envisaged. We need to make sure that you are physically fit for the kind of job ahead of you and your level of dedication to it. So right now as we leave here, we're going out to the field to commence the sport training and assessment and that would be the only assessment for the day." Mr.Steff said to their surprise and they all looked at one another in surprise. Most of them probably didn't really think that it could be part of the assessment.

They were to start with running and were told to locate a flag deep into the mountain.

The place they booked for the training in Qawm is located around a forest and also linked with mountains to make it easier for what they planned on doing.

The team that locate the flag and brings it back home ,wins the running race and would be awarded some points over the other team.

It sounded like a easy task to the two teams and after the whistle was blown, the race started in earnest with the two teams making their way into the forest in search of the flag which they believed shouldn't be deep in the forest.

Team A in company of Ken, Richard and Joy went to the right side while Team B in company of Ven, Daniella and Olivia went to the left side all in search of the flag.

Along the line, Joy fell and wounded her leg and could not go anymore.Richard felt that she would be a burden to them and therefore told Ken to take care of her and return home with her while he dive into the forest in search of the flag before the other team get their hands over it first.

Richard is highly competitive and as such, understand that waiting for Ken would hinder them from retrieving the flag quickly as planned.

Team B also on their way and without looking at where they were going fell inside a trap which got them glued and could not move for sometime. During the course of this, Daniella had injured her leg and could therefore not walk and this caused a great confusion for the team who didn't know what to do in this situation.

Richard got to the end of the mountain panting heavily and after looking through, eventually got hold of the flag they were to find and hurried back immediately since he was not sure whether it was only one flag that was in the mountain or the other team also had gotten hold of a flag and were already running home.

Ven and his team were able to get out at last and when they got to the end of the mountain could not find anything that looks like a flag. Since they could not see Richard and his team they opted to return back as it's likely Team A had retrieve it.

Richard got home first with no sign of his other team members and the other team and this made him happy for achieving this feat.

He had to wait for others to come back before Mr.Steff could announce the winner something he thought was not necessary.

" We really appreciate you people for a job well done even though it's an assessment you didn't plan for." Mr.Steff said and paused to check their reaction before he continue. He needed all of them to be around before the announcement and started immediately they all returned.

" Without wasting much of our time since it's clear that you're all tired, the winning team for this stage is none other than Team B....."
