Chapter 7

Chris laughed at that. He raised both hands as he glanced around. "Who knew you wouldn't do that? You're poor, right? Your mind could be rotten. Still, we here should be wary of you."

Clayton looked at Chris with his lips trembling with anger. He pointed his index finger in Chris' face. "I'm not like that!"

"He's right. What are you here for anyway if not to steal or rob a bank?" The bank customers, wary of Clayton, grew suspicious. Assuming Chris's words were true.

"Yeah, how can a bank this nice let someone like you in? Is the Security here not good enough? Where's the Security?" The shaggy-haired man with a bit of grey hair on the top of his head looked around for the whereabouts of the security guards.

Clayton stared coldly at them. "I have an interest here. And you ...." He turned his gaze to Chris. "Better think of yourself. Didn't your stock crash yesterday and suffer many thousands of dollars in losses? Just mind your own business."

Chris's eyes widened. He became annoyed. "Damn it!" He couldn't take Clayton's words.

Chris raised his hand, about to punch Clayton, but Clayton dodged and kicked Chris' leg, knocking the man to the ground. That made everyone shout in surprise. Chris was embarrassed to be the centre of attention. He got up and pointed his index finger in Clayton' face. "How dare you do this to me!"

Clayton rolled his eyes as he turned his face the other way. "You wanted to hit me first. I was just defending myself."

Chris clenched his hands tightly into fists, accentuating the veins in his hands. "You've embarrassed me." He approached Clayton, about to land another punch. But again, Clayton was able to dodge it. Things got even more heated when Chris managed to push Clayton's body to the point where it almost crashed into a bank patron. Clayton made Chris' body back, sending some of the bank patrons into hysterics.

"Security! Come quickly! There's a fight here!" people shouted for Security while some young men inside the bank tried to break up Clayton and Chris.

The situation became even more chaotic when the security guards entered the bank and separated them with batons. "What's all the commotion about? Why are you fighting here?"

Chris pointed his index finger at Clayton with a glare in his eyes. "He started the fight first!" Chris turned the story around.

"You wanted to hit me first!" Clayton replied to Chris in a voice so high that it echoed.

Chris laughed, then looked around at everyone as he raised his hands. "Just ask them, who here started first? Anyway, I've asked you to leave nicely since you're disturbing the peace here. Right?" He tried to appeal to the defence of the bank visitors, who were indeed bothered by Clayton' presence.

That, of course, made them all nod their heads, confirming Chris' words. They all pointed at Clayton. "He started the fight. That guy was just defending himself!" they told Chris, defending him as innocent.

Clayton was wide-eyed. Chris had gone too far in leading them to accuse him. "He started the fight. You guys saw it yourselves."

They looked at Clayton with cynical eyes. "That's it, just kick him out of here. We're annoyed with him. How did a thief get into the bank? Are you guys not guarding well? What if we lose money and valuables? We don't want him here."

"Yes, that's right. Get him out of here!" Everyone joined in shouting for Security to take Clayton out of the bank.

Clayton shook his head as he stared fixedly at the Security. "But I'm not a thief."

Chris laughed as he straightened his wrinkled clothes from his fight with Clayton. "But that's what it looks like. How can anyone dress like that in a nice bank that only the richest people in town go to?"

They all nodded their heads in agreement. "Yes, he's right. That poor guy wants to rob here."

Clayton shook his head, looking at the two bank security guys. They had clearly seen him when he arrived with Otto earlier. They even greeted him respectfully. "No. That's not true. You also saw who I came with."

The two security guards looked at each other. They were also confused because they saw and welcomed Clayton, who came with Otto. But it wasn't just one or two people who accused Clayton of being a robber. Judging from Clayton's appearance, anyone would assume that.

"Never mind, just get him out of here. Don't let the customers' safety be compromised because of him." Chris provoked him again and caused a scene.

Clayton was annoyed with Chris. He held up his index finger as he approached Ahren's cousin. "You've gone too far!"

But the two security guards held him back from approaching Chris. Clayton rebelled, trying to get away. He couldn't accept being treated like this by Chris. "Let go!"

Chris raised his chin haughtily while crossing his arms over his chest. "Get him out of here immediately!"

Everyone shouted, agreeing with Chris. A man came into the bank, getting out of a luxury car. The car's shiny body drew everyone's eyes to the bank's transparent glass, where it was parked. He had just taken care of an important client somewhere and had to come to the client's office. He entered the bank. Suddenly, he was surprised to hear the commotion of people.

The man approached Clayton and Chris with a stern and authoritative look. "I see you're making a scene here. What's going on?"

Chris pointed his index finger at Clayton' face. "This man is a poor man. I know him very well. He must have come to this bank to rob it. I can't understand why the Security in such a good bank is so bad. How could you let someone like him into the bank?"

"That's right. Why don't you pay attention to the Security here? What if he doesn't get caught robbing and taking our valuables?" The other customers also protested the man.

The bank employee noticed Clayton's modest appearance in shabby clothes. He thought that Clayton was indeed a thief. Moreover, the words of the protesting customers made him even more convinced that Clayton was indeed a thief. This made him angry.

"It can't be allowed!" The bank employee pulled Clayton' hand roughly. "Already, you'd better get out of here before I get any nastier!"

At the same time, Otto and the Chairman of the Bank continetal branch came out of the VVIP room. They were shocked to see what their employees had done to Clayton. Even the CEO's eyes widened perfectly. The CEO immediately ran over to his employee with a sharp look in his eyes.

"What are you doing?" The president pulled his employee's hand away from Clayton'. He bowed his head respectfully to Clayton with frightened facial hair. "I'm sorry, sir."

The bank employee frowned, surprised and wondering why the CEO was being respectful to Clayton. "What are you doing, sir? This man wants to rob here and disturb the customers."

The Chairman's eyes widened even more, staring intently at his employee. He was furious at his employee's words and immediately punched the man's face. "Do you know who you accused of being the robber? How dare you say such unkind things to him."

The employee looked surprised to receive a punch from his superior. "Sir, but everyone says that man is a robber. It's not just one or two people saying that. He even got into a fight and made a scene here earlier."

The Chairman's lips trembled with anger. He even clenched his hands tightly. "Shut your filthy mouth. Mr. Clayton is an important guest at the bank!"

Everyone was shocked to hear that, including Chris. He shook his head in disbelief at the bank president's words. "That's impossible."
