"Are you sure you're alright?" Halsey felt that was the hundredth time Adair was asking her that question.

And just like she had always said, she nodded her head with a smile, "I'm really fine, Adair."

Adair stared at her for a long time before proceeding to tuck her to bed. "You should rest now, Halsey. If you feel different or see anyone in your room, just scream my name and I'll hear you."

Halsey nodded and watched him leave the room. Outside, Adair saw a worried Collette pacing to and fro. She rushed up to him immediately.

"Is she okay?" She asked worriedly.

"Yes, it wasn't blood. It was some sort of juice she had for lunch at school. She got some on her way back." Adair smiled reassuringly.

Collette nodded absentmindedly, her mind going back to what happened an hour ago.

"It's fine. They won't be back. I promise." Adair promised, drawing her close to him.

Collette nodded fearfully and engulfed her hand around his neck. After what he did, she felt safer in his arms.
