“Oh my God!” Collette exclaimed, both of her hands flying to her mouth in shock. She glanced at the spot where the minivan had fallen off and turned to Adair in panic, “Is he going to be okay?”

Adair nodded his head sincerely. “He will.”

He didn't say that to put Collette's mind at ease, as he knew they'd have been the one to fall off the bridge if he hadn't swerved in time.

Instead, he said that because he knew Jordan, who was closely following them, would go after that driver to torture out the name of the one who sent him out of the driver's mouth.

And for that to happen, the driver needed to be alive.

“It's alright. We survived, and I'm sure he will as well.” Adair reassured her with a smile.

“His brake probably malfunctioned. Poor soul.” Collette sighed, glancing at where the minivan had fallen from again.

Adair started the car again and drove out. As soon as they were gone, someone dived into the water from the bridge and dragged out the driver, who had gone unconscious.
