CHAPTER 19

In the van, Adam was beaten with the fists until he had gone silent. Every time he tried to talk, they beat him and didn’t let even a word escape his mouth.

His face was still covered by the bag, so he couldn’t even see them. But he could tell that they were all bodybuilders with heavy builds. Each of their punches sucked the courage and half the life out of him.

Ten minutes of long travel tortured Adam’s heart with anxiety and fear. He wasn’t even allowed to beg them to let him go. They just didn’t let him talk.

He was taken into one of the godowns and was tied up to a chair. Both arms and feet were bound tightly so he couldn’t move at all. His heart was pounding in his ears.

“What do you want? Just tell me,” he yelled through the cover. This time, he wasn’t beaten. “I can arrange the money for you.”

The bag was lifted. He was now able to see. Four men stood before him, two on either side of the chair. There was a silhouette about twenty feet away, standing in the shadow.
