chapter 2 (the betrayal)

Jack couldn't even talk, he kept stammering, unable to believe this, The Emily he knew couldn't do this.

"Emily , please… reconsider, I can really be useful more than you think, I have nowhere to go if you send me out, I…I ..", he trialed, so emotional to talk.

"Listen to yourself, you have nowhere to go, you as a man, you shouldn't be saying that, you know?", Emily stated, folding her arms.

"Emily… why doing this, I love you, we love each other, you even proposed to me".

Emily raised his hand and dissmively said, "That was then, I was blind with love and not what you can give… you are lifeless, I don't want you anymore in my life, I don't need love again, I want potential and a standard person that will life me high!".

"I don't choose this life for myself, yes… I am an orphan, and instead of living my life, I use it to carry you up", jack pointed out.

Emily frowned her face hearing this and gazed at him, "What, you help me up".

"Emily, you pushed me to say this, I have made many medical discoveries and cure, I gave the company the publicity it's having today!!!", He nearly yelled but keep it cool.

Emily scoffed, "really, I can't believe you are saying this" .

"Emily, you are making me say this because you said I am useless which I am not, my contribution is overlooked even when I was the one that made the company quite popular, I was not even compensated, yet I didn't complain because I was doing it for you", Jack told her.

Just as Emily was about to talk, the door was knocked, she exhaled in frustration and went to open the door, there was her mother Mrs. Kay and her brother Desmond.

"Have you done with it", Mrs. Kay immediately asked as she entered.

Emily spread her arms, "he won't sign it, he kept talking about how he contributed to the company's success, when all he did was discover a cure".

Emily said it like the discovery was nothing, but it was really a lot and Jack was right, he was the one behind the company's success.

"I told you, I told you he was just a demon trying to be cool, a lowlife will always be one", Mrs . Kay stated.

Desmond laughed, 'see this parasitic living worm, we fed you, we clothed, you depend on us!, You are nothing without us, the company's success has nothing to do with you!'.

If not for the situation, Jack would have burst into laughter, talking of parasites, Desmond should lead, he can't do anything and depend only on the family's income, his younger sister even took the company from him.

Jack ignored him completely and told Emily with a damn straight face, "The company will become nothing without me, I am the only person with the knowledge of how to keep the drug going".

Emily covered her mouth as she burst into laughter, Mrs Kay smiled at him. Jack frowned, wondering what's funny about that.

"Look jack, there is already a replacement for you, as my husband and the one that will took over your place in the lab, your knowledge?, We don't want it".

Jack was still confused, lines on his forehead as his frown deepened. Just then, there was a knock.

"Yay!, That he is!", Emily delightfully stated as she sprinted towards the door and flung it open. There, a man stood smiling at her.

Right in front of Jack's presence, They kissed! Jack jaw dropped, his life was crumbling right in front of him, everything he worked for. He clenched his fist and tried his best not to cry, the person Emily was kissing, not just anybody but his Friend. Best friend, Kyle!.

The one he trusted most and shared all his knowledge with him.

Emily led Kyle in, and they both burst into laughter as they saw the shock in his face.

He sniffed, "Kyle".

Kyle was the heir of the Lonny drug company, his father was very rich and popular also. What he didn't know was that Emily didn't love him a bit, she just wanted to use him just like how he used jack.

"Why are you this shocked, uhn, you think as high status I am I will be friends with someone as lowly as you?".

Kyle lost his voice, and lost it's all, hope and purpose to live.

"Okay, okay, I accept the divorce, please let me work in your company, so I can live..".

Emily stepped forward and gave him the divorce letter, "sign this, I will give you $5million, that is enough for you to start a new life".

The money was very tempting and with it, he can truly change his life, if he builds his knowledge on it.

He stretched for the divorce letter, and scribbled the pen on signing it.

"Yay, that's good of you!!!Why proving to be Romeo before", Emily said as she collected it and wrote the $5million cheque then gave it to him.

Jack collected the cheque, a smirk spreading across his face. As he ripped it into tiny pieces and threw them in the air, saying, "You can't buy my integrity and the genuine love I had for you, wait, till I make you kneel in front of me and regret your actions!"

Emily was annoyed "What are you doing, Jack? You must be crazy, bluffing" she added "you will be the regretful one for rejecting that lot of money".

"You wish", jack angrily stormed out of the room, already regretting rejecting the money. But Emily also lost something, because Jack didn't disclose the vital point of the last stage cancer to Kyle!!!.
