chapter 5 the dream car

In a sleek, black limousine, Jack sat comfortably in the plush leather seat behind Lena, who was driving. Jack gazed out the window with a contented smile, taking in the view of towering skyscrapers and bustling streets below. Then, his eyes caught the cafeteria store where he usually came to ease himself from the stress of work.

The lady in the store usually said that he had a superpower because she occasionally simply forgot to make a hot coffee instead of cold. She always said she made it cold, that she was very sure, but she always gave him hot coffee! So, she concluded he had a superpower turning the coffee hot!.

Remembering that made him chuckle. The salesgirl was very devoted and jovial, so he made up his mind to go meet her after he bought his dream car.

Lena noticed him and inquired, "What's making you smile? Do you want anything? Just request it, and it will certainly be provided."

"Mmm, not now… thanks.", Jack mumbled.

After some minutes, they arrive at the biggest car garage in the city, As Lena expertly maneuvered the limousine into the car garage, Jack's anticipation grew. The exterior was breathtaking with a Tall glass doors framed the entrance, allowing glimpses of luxurious vehicles within.

Lena rushed out to open the door for him, as he gently stepped out, Jack couldn't help but feel super excited when he saw all the shiny cars lined up inside the garage. Each one looked so cool and inviting, like they were asking him to come take a closer look.

"Sir, I will wait out so you could explore, and go for your dream car, remember, the black card in your hand can do wonders", Lena stated, keeping it gentle.

Jack smiled at her, and nodded before walking into the garage.

Inside the garage, Jack was welcome by the big, well-lit room. It smelled like new cars, and the floor was shiny. There were lots of cars lined up neatly, all different colours and shapes. Jack felt amazed as he looked around at the cool cars.

He went straight to meet with the sales girl, "Hello please, I would like to buy the new and latest Ferrari car", Ferrari was a dream car!, Finally he was getting it.

The sales girls welcomed him with a smile and slightly bow, "okay sir, please follow me". She said and walked to where the set of Ferraris cars was parked. Jack followed, he was still wondering if this was all a dream, if it was, he prayed to never wake up.

He was carried away with this thought when he accidentally bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry", he immediately bowed, and raised his hand, only to meet a Stern face, of two familiar people. Ms. Paulina, Emily's Aunt and Ma. Janet, the grandmother.

They were as shocked to see him also, as he immediately bowed again

"Good evening Mother,".

They were equally shocked to see him, Ma. Janet liked jack, but when she heard about the divorce, she hated him because she was given a different story "Don't greet me. I heard you divorced my daughter," she barked at him.

"Yes, I am the issue. I... " He intended to take the blame to avoid Emily being blamed. He knew ma. Janet and her harsh decision at times, she might even remove Emily from the company.

"Yes, I know you are the problem, you this trash bag."

Jack frowned, she wasn't expecting this, "She initiated the divorce first, ma," he politely replied.

"What did you do for her to initiate it? I heard you cheated on her, you've been having a secret affair."

"No, ma, that isn't..." Jack knew she had being lied to.

She cut him off, "Just shut up. You are poor, from a no-name family. We fed you, clothed you, and this is how you repay us?"

"Ma'am, there is a misunderstanding here. She..."

"You don't have the right to talk back. You this cheaterl, you solely depend on us and yet you cheated, that's the reason I hate poor people, I hoped you would be different, but I'm wrong" she sneered.

" I have treated your daughter well since our marriage. I haven't done anything wrong except being poor," he defended himself.

"Yes, being poor is a sin, and I know that you definitely cheated on her, she can't just divorce you."

"Ma, I never did anything!"

Ma. Janet slapped him, "Shut up! My daughter made the right decision to divorce you. You are poor and not in her league, the most stupid person I've ever seen," she scolded him.

Jack held his cheeks, he wondered what made her so aggressive. He stayed calm.

Just then, mrs. Paulina chimed in, "I heard she paid you $5million for the breakup. Is that what you are doing here? To buy a car with it?"

Jack looked dumbfounded, wondering who told them all these lies. "No, I didn't. She offered, but I didn't accept it."

Mrs. Janet laughed loudly, "You must be kidding me. How could someone as lowly as you reject that sum of money?"

"I can't believe something like that from a pauper's mouth. I'm sure if she offered, you would jump at it like a magnet drawn to metal,".

"I will never trade my love for Emily with money, the love I have for her is genuine."

Ma. Janet laughed at his words, "I can't believe that is coming from a beggar and parasite like you." She hauled this time, and this attracted many customers, as they all averted to them.

"Ma. that is too much, you have embarrassed me enough", he said.

The staff couldn't talk, because ma. Janet was a regular customer and did not want to offend her.

"Okay, anyhow you want to take it", jack said and turned Away to leave them, but he was gripped by Ms. Paulina.

"You can't just go like that, return the money she gave you", she demanded.

Jack chuckled, "this is getting more ridiculous, she didn't give me money, I didn't collect it, and even if she did, what right do you have in asking me".

"Look, you are already confessing, I am sure she gave you, ma!, He is planning to live a good life after breaking Emily's heart, we can't just let him be", Ms. Paulina persisted.

Jack was now getting angry as he twisted and free his hand making ms. Paulina bumped her butt on the ground.

"What, ma'am, she just hit me!".

Jack Scoffed, "what?".

Ma. Janet's eyes blazed in fire, "I want you to throw this man out, now!".

The staff lips mumbled, "but… he is here to buy a new Ferrari car".

Ma. Janet jaw dropped and Ms. Paulina slowly stood up as she asked, "You said?, New released ferrari?, That cost almost $200 million dollars!, He must be dreaming".

Ma. Janet added, "There is no way he had such money".

Jack smirked and decided to show his new found wealth off, he dipped his hand in his pocket, for the black card, but he couldn't find it!.
