The rain still fell as hard as it could, and the pitter patter of the rain drops landing on the leaves of the tall trees could be heard. It was no longer as dark as it was some hours ago, but it was still cloudy, so the vision one could see was limited. In one part of the wet forests, an absolutely insane battle was going on. The noises caused by the intense battle were drowned by the noise of the heavy rain, but that did nothing to lessen the intensity of the fight. In the area where the fight occurred, the surroundings were ravaged beyond recognition. Several trees had been cleared out, with different telltale signs clearly visible on their trunks. Various craters could be seen on the wet grounds, showing how serious the fight was. In the ravaged area, three people stood under the heavy rain; a standoff occurring. But unlike the first standoff, this was done after a brief pause in their battle. Fritz Kruger, an S-rank terrorist from the Purple Pavilion stood still under the heav
“Something’s strange.” Lukas said, walking through the dim forests with Noelle and Harry. After Noelle killed the Nightwalker, the trio had started making their way towards the camps. The atmosphere between Harry and Noelle was tense, but there was little Lukas could do about that. He was more focused on getting to the camps safely while avoiding troublesome monsters like the Nightwalker. Harry on the other hand, was in a very awkward position. He had apologized to Noelle and tried to make small talk with her but all he got was a cold shoulder. Perhaps, a cold shoulder was a bit of an understatement. He didn’t say anything though, as he believed he deserved it. Noelle, on the other hand, held her giant sword tightly. While she was still very angry at Harry, it was the least of her worries. Her mind was still preoccupied with the feeling of strength she had earlier. She felt that she had just touched on the threshold to a major breakthrough, but was unable to act on it yet. Their
-The Camps, Zivel Forests- Inside the busy camps, Harry and Lukas stood still, watching the chaotic situation. Noelle, the girl Lukas saved, had run off just a few minutes after reaching the camps. Lukas couldn’t comprehend her behavior. She hadn’t even waited for him to ask her name. It was too strange. Shouldn’t they at least get to know each other? He sighed. Maybe some people were like that, or maybe she felt awkward because of her differences with Harry. Anyways, they were safe now. “Come on, let’s go.” Lukas said, dragging his brown haired friend with him. Rather than going towards the safe shelters which were built to house them, they both went towards the healing tent. Since their injuries were not so serious, there was no reason for them to be carried away on stretchers. The healing tent was filled to the brim, and the healers were seriously understaffed. There were a lot of people, both teachers and students waiting to be treated. Lukas sat down near the healing tents,
“Over here! Quick!” A person shouted. He had come with the reinforcements from the high school, and seemed to be a rank higher than the other teachers, seeing the way the teachers flocked around him. Immediately after he shouted, several people ran over to him, eager to receive instructions from the man. “Can’t you all see that he’s seriously injured?! What are you still doing? Heal him quickly!” The man said, pointing a student that was bleeding profusely. The healers among the people he called quickly rushed up to the boy, and started casting several healing spells on him. In a matter of seconds, the boy was healed of his injuries. Several scenes similar to this were also taking place in different places in the camps. Teachers, led by departmental heads ran around the busy camps, treating as much injured as they could, taking a huge amount of workload off the dog tired healers. In an office built in the camps, Dean Shinomiya and his assistant watched the scene from the windows w
“Greene, let him in.”The Dean’s voice echoed from inside his office, startling the two men outside. By the look of things, he had heard the conversation between the gold ranked hunter and his assistant, and therefore decided to grant him audience to speak with him.Greene, the Dean’s assistant, vehemently disagreed with Dean. He didn’t want the hunter to meet with the Dean.“Dean Shinomiya, I don’t think we should let him in. We have more important things to do.” The assistant replied, passing the hunter a side look that was filled with contempt.Rodd, the gold ranked hunter looked at the assistant and scoffed at the subtle insult, but said nothing. The decision to grant him an audience with the Dean didn’t rest on him but on the Dean, so he could care less about what the assistant thought.“Why? He might have something important to tell us.” The Dean retorted.“It surely can’t be as important as what we were doing, Dean Shinomiya.” The assistant shot back, not willing to give up.Th
Rodd, a gold ranked hunter, didn’t know the corpse on the floor, but he knew that from the reaction of the Dean, the corpse’s identity was far from simple. The Dean however just stared at the body; his mind was reeling with shock. He couldn’t figure out why the Purple Pavilion would send their members to disrupt their training. As a being half step into becoming a God, he knew that there was more to the attack that met the eye.As he studied the corpse, he was suddenly reminded of something important. The members of the Purple Pavilion were by no means weak, so it begged a very important question.Just who was capable of killing a terrorist from the transcendental organization? As far as he knew there were very few people who were capable of killing a member of the organization present in the Aegis Empire. Most of them were very busy as they attended to numerous serious matters, so much that they barely had time for themselves, not to talk of coming to the Zivel Forests. The only reas
-Zik City, Etienne Mansion- “And on today’s news, we are reporting on the vicious attack on Aegis Imperial High School. According to inside formation, the Dean of Aegis Imperial High School made a drastic decision to send their top students to the Zivel Forests.” “As we all know, the Zivel forests is a location that just received an A-rank in terms of danger level. It is dangerous even for gold ranked hunters, and they actively avoid the said forest.” “This brings us to ask a very important question. What made the Dean of Aegis Imperial High School ask send his students to such a dangerous place?” “The answer we got was shocking. As we all know, despite claiming the number one rank in the Empire; there have been complaints about their poor run of defeats in the Regal Tournament, a top ranked tournament involving several empires.” “In a bid to improve their ranking in the upcoming tournament next year, the Dean sent his students to the forests. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as pl
The bright rays of the sun peeked past the windows in Lukas room, lighting up the dim room. Lukas closed his eyes at the sudden bright light, before turning over on the small bed, using his bed sheets to prevent the bright rays from touching him. It had been a week since they came back from the forests, so the backlash from the media had yet to die down. There was also no classes being held now, as a lot of teachers had lost their lives in the attack, so the students were forced to self study. Lukas in particular was having it rough. Mr. Luis was nowhere to be found after the attack. He wasn’t confirmed dead, as his body was yet to be found, but most people believed that he was dead. Due to his sudden disappearance, Lukas was left with only the magic circles for his deviant element and the technique for improving his mana control. Many students had decided to withdraw from the school, as they were unable to overcome the trauma from the attack. Those who had decided to stay still h
