Lukas woke up later than usual. The effects from using the mana core had taken a huge toll on him, so he had taken a well deserved rest. Luckily, the pain and fatigue he felt yesterday were all gone after a nice good night sleep. His body was restored to full strength, and he could tell it was better than it had been before he utilized the mana core.

Lukas had not yet tested the effects the mana core had on his spells, so that was the first agenda on his list. Lukas got up from his bed and took a bath to freshen up. The dormitory was still empty so there were very few people in the dorms. Lukas guessed that the students who remained were probably students like him who had no place to call home.

After putting on a casual outfit, he made his way to an area reserved for mages to cast and practice their spells. It was as large as a soccer field, and although it was usually filled with different students practicing their spells before, it was empty now.

Lukas walked slowly and in a relaxed

Lukas woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He checked the caller ID and saw Eipi’s name written on it. Lukas groaned before picking the call.“Hello?” Eipi said.“Yes?” Lukas asked in a dull tone. He wasn’t in the mood to talk. He just wanted to sleep. However, all traces of sleep escaped him when he heard the next words that escaped Eipi’s mouth.“Hey Lukas, we have completed two dungeon runs these past weeks and is preparing for another one in four days. Your suspension is now over so you should come over to the Guild for the meeting and strategy discussion.”Lukas sprang up from the bed in shock. He was extremely happy! His suspension had finally been lifted!“Alright! I’ll be there in an hour!” Lukas replied.Eipi responded lightly before disconnecting the call. He had done his own part.Lukas could barely contain his joy as he washed up in the bathroom. Other than his eagerness to test out the upgrade effects in a dungeon, he was also extremely happy for another reason.Pro

The ride to the specified dungeon was long and uneventful. Apart from the constant chattering of Eipi who sat beside Lukas, there was nothing note worthy about the trip. After travelling for 8 hours, an hour extra than the expected time, they finally got to the destined dungeon. The dungeon's entrance was slightly larger than the previous dungeon Lukas had visited, and it had a different color than Ariel's castle, the F-ranked dungeon. There were massive swirling yellow circles which served as the entrance to the F-ranked dungeon. The other team members felt intimidated by the impressive aura emitted by the portals even though they had been clearing dungeons for a long time.Lukas however was not intimidated in the slightest. All that was on his mind was to test out the effects the mana core had on his spells.Unlike before, Sivanthe was the last to enter the dungeon. He had made it part of his routine to be the last person to enter and exit the dungeon. Since there was no way to exit

The Kangaroo noticed the disturbed mana flow underneath its feet and jumped up to escape Lukas first spell. If it were before Lukas ingested the mana core, it might have worked due to how long it took Lukas mercury to spread across the ground. This time however, reinforced with the effects of the mana core, Lukas spell was cast almost instantly. The mercury spell trapped one of the hind legs of the monster kangaroo. Lukas instantly changed the state of his element from liquid to solid, chaining the leg of the kangaroo down. The speed of transition was so quick that the Kangaroo had no idea what hit it. It tried to wrestle its leg free but it was futile. After ingesting the mana core, the strength grip of Lukas spell had doubled. It would take serious physical strength to break through from the spell.Lukas himself was shocked at the effects of the mana core on his spells. He had already chained the monster down and it was unable to break free.Lukas did not let this chance slip. A mas

“How is the knight doing now?” Lukas asked, turning his back on the now headless kangaroo.Rus was still in shock when Lukas words pulled her out of her reverie. She looked around and saw that the knight was still knocked out. Rus couldn’t comprehend what had just happened. The Knight who had participated in numerous dungeon runs before Lukas was knocked out with a single kick from the kangaroo, yet Lukas who was just participating in his second dungeon run had killed that same monster without sustaining any injuries. It was absolutely preposterous.Lukas paid no attention to the stares Rus directed at him. He was reviewing the fight he just had in his head. While the fight must have seemed perfect and flawless to her, to him it was full of so many flaws. If he had been fighting a different and smarter type of monster who actually used its head and not just its brawns, then the fight would have gone way differently than it did.Lukas noted all his errors as he walked. He was always co

Huge. That was the only word to describe the monster. It was incredibly huge. Even the monster Lukas had seen in the F-ranked dungeon Ariel’s castle wasn’t as huge as this. It was completely out of his expectations.Lukas wasn’t the only one affected by the size of the monster. Not only was the monster huge, it was incredibly imposing. The aura it gave off alone suffocated them, and Lukas found himself losing the will to fight. The monster screeched loudly before making a full appearance. Lukas gulped. He should have known what kind of monster it was the moment he stepped into the monster’s lair. They were only one type of monsters that loved staying in tall trees; birdlike monsters. The monster was similar to a hawk, but it was extremely huge. Its talons were as thick as tree branches, and its wings were just as powerful as they looked.Sivanthe felt beads of sweat rolling down his head. The monster bird glared at the group of hunters, pain and anger in its stare. Its gaze was particularly fixed on Lukas. If it weren’t for his ruthless attack on its right eye, then it wouldn’t have been badly injured by the attacks launched on it.The monster instantly recognized the largest threat in the team from that single attack. It knew it had to kill Lukas as soon as possible; otherwise its chances of winning the fight would be reduced drastically. The silver haired hunter might not look it, but he was extremely dangerous.Lukas noticed the change in the monster’s gaze almost immediately and frowned. The monster had picked him as a priority target which meant that most of the attacks would be directed at him.Unknown to the monster, this change mattered little to Lukas. There was no way they were leaving the dungeon without killing the monster, so they needed to kill it, regardless of what the monster thought. Making Lukas a priority target didn’t change that fact. The monster

The hunters exited the dungeon with Sivanthe being the last to exit as usual. Lukas stood still for a minute basking in the aftermath of the dungeon run. From this single dungeon run he had gained several insights about practical combat. Even though he was not at the level he wanted to be yet, the fact that he was improving steadily served as a huge morale boost to him.Eipi as usual showered several praises on Lukas about his contribution to the dungeon run on their way back to the Guild building. Lukas of course kept mute and listened to Eipi chatter on about their dungeon run. Eipi finally kept shut when they got to the Guild building.Following the normal routine, when they all alighted from the van, the team members waved goodbye to each other before finding their separate ways back home. Sivanthe as usual made his way into the Guild building. As the team leader of team 6, he was obligated to give a report on how the dungeon run went.Lukas waved goodbye to his several teammate

The bronze ranked hunters all had their hunter’s license revoked permanently while the Guilds involved were given a 12 month ban on participating in dungeon runs. A 12 month ban was similar to crippling the Guild’s flow of profit because they couldn’t rely on expeditions alone, needless to say that dungeon runs were twice as profitable as expedition. Ciel was still shocked at the identity of the masked hunter. Although she had some suspicions, there were merely suspicions. What were the odds of the masked hunter that was her teammate being Lukas himself? From what she could tell, she could see that Lukas was very experienced as a hunter, even more experienced than her. She easily deduced that Lukas had thoughts along the same line as her after the traumatic experience at the Zivel forests, and decided to increase his strength by becoming a hunter. However, she did not account for the speed at which he grew. By some coincidence, they even managed to join the same guild, and were assigned to the same team, which was the only reason she was able to deduce his identity. With tumultous emotions raging wildly in her heart, she joined the village guards and started to help evacuate the helpless villagers while fighting against the saber toothed tigers, taking a passive stance in the heated battle.Lukas who had no idea that his identity

A surprised expression immediately appeared on Chief Keef's face, and the powerful aura that he had kept hidden suddenly skyrocketed. Without even sparing the three guests in his small hut a glance, he exited the hut in a haste. Amanda glanced at Lukas and Ciel briefly before exiting the small hut, leaving both Lukas and Ciel no other choice than to do so. When Lukas and Ciel appeared outside the small hut, the scene before them was one that they did not expect at all. Several huge monsters could be seen charging at the weak villagers. These monsters were incredibly huge, easily towering the villagers at more than 3 meters tall. They bore an uncanny resemblance to the tigers on earth, with few differences. The teeth of these monsters were incredibly sharp, cutting through the weak defenses of the villagers like tofu, and the four front canines were shaped like sabers, hence their name saber toothed tigers. At a single glance they could see more than fifty saber toothed tigers; an

“What do you think you’re doing in my village?”Amanda swung her wand when she heard the voice, pausing the terrified villager’s fall. The villager had his heart in his mouth at that moment, as his face inches away from the ground. If the voice hadn’t interrupted Amanda from her actions, he had no doubt that he would have been face planted on the hard ground and turned into mashed paste.Lukas and Ciel were both shocked and curious that someone was capable of making Amanda cease her actions. They had no doubt in their minds that the villager was a goner when he mocked Amanda’s outfit. They were instead worried about how they would explain the injury of the villager to the Hunter Association when they submitted their quest report for clearing.Amanda slowly turned around to face the owner of the voice. There was shock in her eyes as she gazed at the chief. She was a silver ranked hunter and a Great Mage, which spoke volumes for her physical strength, but she was unable to sense the chi

The journey to Gien village was a smooth one, albeit a long one. It took seven hours for them to get to their destination, one hour longer than the usual time needed. Throughout the duration of the journey, both Lukas and Ciel maintained complete silence. Lukas instead spent the whole time looking outside the window of the van. He found himself missing Eipi all of a sudden. At least, the journey would not have been this boring. When they arrived at Gien village, the van dropped the three of them off before driving off speedily.Lukas and Ciel looked around the village as soon as they alighted from the van. As the name suggested, Gien village was truly a village. At a single glance both Lukas and Ciel could tell that it was very underdeveloped. The van had dropped them at Gien village, but they still had to walk a short distance before they got to the gate to the village. As the trio walked towards the gate, they ran their eyes around their surroundings. Lukas however wasn’t bothered about that. He would use this period to increase his personal strength. That had always been his goal.He took the cab as usual and got to the Guild building early. The meeting room was empty meaning that he was the first to arrive.Only a few minutes passed before the door to the room opened and a beautiful lady with blue hair stepped inside the room.It was of course Ciel. This was the fourth quest she had suggested to Amanda but she had denied it just like the other three she submitted to Amanda.Lukas stood up and handed over a document to Amanda. He didn’t read it this time because Amanda told them not to read out loud anymore. Their voices were sickening and would give her endless nightmares according to her.“Denied.” Amanda said again, still twirling her wand as she spoke.Lukas didn’t groan like Ciel. Instead he just turned and went back to searching for a new quest. After having his quests rejected eight times, twice that of Ciel, he gave up on complaining about the rejection. The time he used to complain was better spent on searching for new quests. He had learned from numerous rejections that his complaints meant nothing to Amanda. And just like that, two hours of their time were spent searching for new quests. Af

The reason for their shock was obvious and understandable. At their level as Basic Mages the feat that their team leader performed was completely shocking to them. Casting a magic spell without the use of a magic circle was something they couldn’t comprehend. They had been taught that it was impossible to cast a magic spell without a medium which was why magic circles were required for casting spells so seeing Amanda cast a magic spell without a magic circle was utterly shocking to them.Amanda paid them no heed. She could clearly see their confused gazes and shock at her method of casting magic but made no plans to explain it to them. Not only was it stressful to do so there was absolutely no need for her to do so. She saw no reason to explain the mystery to them.“These documents contain several quests issued by the Hunter Association. Completing the quests will give us contribution points which in turn can be used to level you both to the silver rank.”Lukas and Ciel leaned forward

His silver hair was now long enough to be packed in a small ponytail, which was what he did.She looked at him for a few seconds before removing her gaze. Hunters were eccentric people anyways.
