Lukas looked at his team leader in confusion. He could not understand the sudden urgency in his voice.

Was the orb something very special? Or was it very dangerous?

Lukas thought that must be the case. Otherwise there was no reason why he should behave like that.

“I asked you where you got that orb!” Sivanthe shouted; while shaking Lukas’ shoulders with an almost crazed expression on his face.

“Calm down!” Lukas responded agitatedly; already annoyed by his attitude.

Sivanthe came back to his senses and took a look around. He saw that his team members were looking at him as if he was insane, but there was also curiosity in their expressions. It was rare to see Sivanthe lose his cool, so they were all wondering what the orb was that could have warranted such reaction from him.

Sivanthe cleared his throat and turned his gaze back to Lukas.

“I’m sorry for raising my voice at you, but could you please tell me where you got this orb?”

Sivanthe asked in a calm tone, but Lukas could hear the

The only exception was Gures, but Lukas could care less.Maintaining their fast speed, they rapidly swept through the dungeon, killing monsters as swiftly as they could. After 3 hours of incessant killings and resting, they finally came to stop in front of a huge cave.“This is the lair to the boss monster of this F-ranked dungeon. When we kill it, a portal will open, and we’ll be free to leave this place.” Sivanthe said, explaining the rules to the newbie hunters among them.Lukas and Eipi nodded their head in response to his explanations.“We’ll take a 20 minute break here,

“KNIGHTS!”The three burly men repositioned themselves again, raising their gigantic shields to block the incoming attack again.BOOM!When the monster collided with the shields again, Sivanthe shouted again.“MAGES!”Immediately, the mages in the team responded, casting several spells on the monster. The monster growled loudly from the pain, and tried to attack. Unfortunately, he was stripped of the chance to fight back as Sivanthe yelled once again.“CCQ!”At his call, all close combat quarters fighters, including Sivanthe his self, ran towards the monster. Without giving the monster a moment of reprieve, they launched several brutal attacks on the monster. When the monster was on the verge of exploding from anger, Sivanthe yelled again.“FALL BACK!”Immediately everyone obeyed, moving away from the monster to a safe distance. Lukas stood still after unleashing another third tier spell. He was very glad that he had broken through and learnt the third tier spell of his element. If this fight had happened when he only had two spells in his arsenal, then he would have very little chance of winning.Gures blocked all three spears this time with surprisingly good skills. As someone who could be labeled a veteran hunter, it was no wonder that he was able to block Lukas’ attacks. At first, Lukas attacks might look threatening, but to a veteran like Gures, they were nothing worth mentioning. One could easily tell that he had no experience when going up against hunters.Gures didn’t wait for Lukas to cast another spell again. He dashed forward at a frightening speed, and got close to Lukas. He swung his sword vertically, aiming to decapitate Lukas and end the fight at once. However, Lukas was a step ahead of him.“Mirror Casting; Mercury Shield!”CLANG!The ring on his index finger let out a dull shine, and a magic

Sivanthe and the rest of the team waited impatiently. The blue portal was still active, so Lukas and Gures should have exited the dungeon. It had been over 40 minutes since Sivanthe and Eipi exited the dungeon, so Gures and Lukas should have followed suit. “Did something go wrong inside the cave?” Eipi asked, voicing out his concern. “Maybe the boss monster didn’t actually die?” Vanessa said, worry evident on her face. “That’s wrong. It can’t be the case. If the boss didn’t die then the portal would not have opened. There has to be another reason for the delay.” Sivanthe interjected, dismissing their ideas. “Then what could be the cause for their delay?” Eipi asked again. At a glance one could easily tell that Eipi was incredibly worried about Lukas, which was strange considering the fact that they hadn’t even been together for up to a week. “I have no idea. We just have to wait.” Sivanthe said, trying to ease the worry in their hearts. They turned their gaze towards the portal,

Lukas woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He turned around on his bed and stretched his hands towards the bedside table to pick his phone, but it stopped ringing. Lukas opened his eyes and saw that it was already morning. He looked around the bright room and saw that it was still empty. The school hadn’t recovered from the setback so many students were still absent. His body was still fatigued from yesterday, so he didn’t want to wake up early. He was about to go back to bed, but his phone had other plans. His phone rang loudly again. This time Lukas was able to answer the phone call before the ringing stopped.“Hello?” Lukas said, speaking groggily to the caller on the other side of the phone.“Lukas? It’s Eipi.” Eipi said.“Eipi? What’s up?”“Sivanthe asked me to call you and inform you about the progress that has been made concerning your case.”Lukas immediately sobered up as soon as he heard the words that left Eipi’s lips. For the past three weeks, Lukas had fully focused on practicing his spells. Being the genius he was, he had improved tremendously regarding his spell casting and had reduced the time he needed to cast his spell greatly. He was able to cast his first tier spell with just a thought and his second tier spell in less than a second. The third tier spell still took more than a second to cast, but Lukas knew that in a few days, he could reduce the time to just a single second. He had also improved his mana control greatly, and was now able to change the state of his element freely and with ease. Although it was still not at the level he wanted to be, it was a huge improvement on his part. If he were to redo the dungeon run again, the fight with Gures would have ended in less than five minutes.Lukas stood up from his bed and stretched his body. He performed some light exercises to loosen his body. When he was done, he was about to lie down on his bed when he suddenly remembered an important

Lukas woke up later than usual. The effects from using the mana core had taken a huge toll on him, so he had taken a well deserved rest. Luckily, the pain and fatigue he felt yesterday were all gone after a nice good night sleep. His body was restored to full strength, and he could tell it was better than it had been before he utilized the mana core.Lukas had not yet tested the effects the mana core had on his spells, so that was the first agenda on his list. Lukas got up from his bed and took a bath to freshen up. The dormitory was still empty so there were very few people in the dorms. Lukas guessed that the students who remained were probably students like him who had no place to call home. After putting on a casual outfit, he made his way to an area reserved for mages to cast and practice their spells. It was as large as a soccer field, and although it was usually filled with different students practicing their spells before, it was empty now.Lukas walked slowly and in a relaxed

Ciel was still shocked at the identity of the masked hunter. Although she had some suspicions, there were merely suspicions. What were the odds of the masked hunter that was her teammate being Lukas himself? From what she could tell, she could see that Lukas was very experienced as a hunter, even more experienced than her. She easily deduced that Lukas had thoughts along the same line as her after the traumatic experience at the Zivel forests, and decided to increase his strength by becoming a hunter. However, she did not account for the speed at which he grew. By some coincidence, they even managed to join the same guild, and were assigned to the same team, which was the only reason she was able to deduce his identity. With tumultous emotions raging wildly in her heart, she joined the village guards and started to help evacuate the helpless villagers while fighting against the saber toothed tigers, taking a passive stance in the heated battle.Lukas who had no idea that his identity

A surprised expression immediately appeared on Chief Keef's face, and the powerful aura that he had kept hidden suddenly skyrocketed. Without even sparing the three guests in his small hut a glance, he exited the hut in a haste. Amanda glanced at Lukas and Ciel briefly before exiting the small hut, leaving both Lukas and Ciel no other choice than to do so. When Lukas and Ciel appeared outside the small hut, the scene before them was one that they did not expect at all. Several huge monsters could be seen charging at the weak villagers. These monsters were incredibly huge, easily towering the villagers at more than 3 meters tall. They bore an uncanny resemblance to the tigers on earth, with few differences. The teeth of these monsters were incredibly sharp, cutting through the weak defenses of the villagers like tofu, and the four front canines were shaped like sabers, hence their name saber toothed tigers. At a single glance they could see more than fifty saber toothed tigers; an

“What do you think you’re doing in my village?”Amanda swung her wand when she heard the voice, pausing the terrified villager’s fall. The villager had his heart in his mouth at that moment, as his face inches away from the ground. If the voice hadn’t interrupted Amanda from her actions, he had no doubt that he would have been face planted on the hard ground and turned into mashed paste.Lukas and Ciel were both shocked and curious that someone was capable of making Amanda cease her actions. They had no doubt in their minds that the villager was a goner when he mocked Amanda’s outfit. They were instead worried about how they would explain the injury of the villager to the Hunter Association when they submitted their quest report for clearing.Amanda slowly turned around to face the owner of the voice. There was shock in her eyes as she gazed at the chief. She was a silver ranked hunter and a Great Mage, which spoke volumes for her physical strength, but she was unable to sense the chi

The journey to Gien village was a smooth one, albeit a long one. It took seven hours for them to get to their destination, one hour longer than the usual time needed. Throughout the duration of the journey, both Lukas and Ciel maintained complete silence. Lukas instead spent the whole time looking outside the window of the van. He found himself missing Eipi all of a sudden. At least, the journey would not have been this boring. When they arrived at Gien village, the van dropped the three of them off before driving off speedily.Lukas and Ciel looked around the village as soon as they alighted from the van. As the name suggested, Gien village was truly a village. At a single glance both Lukas and Ciel could tell that it was very underdeveloped. The van had dropped them at Gien village, but they still had to walk a short distance before they got to the gate to the village. As the trio walked towards the gate, they ran their eyes around their surroundings. This was the fourth quest she had suggested to Amanda but she had denied it just like the other three she submitted to Amanda.Lukas stood up and handed over a document to Amanda. He didn’t read it this time because Amanda told them not to read out loud anymore. Their voices were sickening and would give her endless nightmares according to her.“Denied.” Amanda said again, still twirling her wand as she spoke.Lukas didn’t groan like Ciel. Instead he just turned and went back to searching for a new quest. After having his quests rejected eight times, twice that of Ciel, he gave up on complaining about the rejection. The time he used to complain was better spent on searching for new quests. He had learned from numerous rejections that his complaints meant nothing to Amanda. And just like that, two hours of their time were spent searching for new quests. Af

    Choosing a Quest (I)

The reason for their shock was obvious and understandable. At their level as Basic Mages the feat that their team leader performed was completely shocking to them. Casting a magic spell without the use of a magic circle was something they couldn’t comprehend. They had been taught that it was impossible to cast a magic spell without a medium which was why magic circles were required for casting spells so seeing Amanda cast a magic spell without a magic circle was utterly shocking to them.Amanda paid them no heed. She could clearly see their confused gazes and shock at her method of casting magic but made no plans to explain it to them. Not only was it stressful to do so there was absolutely no need for her to do so. She saw no reason to explain the mystery to them.“These documents contain several quests issued by the Hunter Association. Completing the quests will give us contribution points which in turn can be used to level you both to the silver rank.”Lukas and Ciel leaned forward

    New Rules

The new rule passed by the Chairman of the Hunter Alliance created a buzz among the Hunters. As expected, the hunters and Guilds were not welcoming of such rule. They had reported to the Hunter Alliance in hopes of them providing a reasonable solution, but instead all they got was a ban telling bronze ranked hunters not to participate in dungeon runs. Of course they were several bronze ranked hunters or Guilds who disregarded this rule and went ahead on dungeon runs. However their ending was far from ideal. The bronze ranked hunters all had their hunter’s license revoked permanently while the Guilds involved were given a 12 month ban on participating in dungeon runs. A 12 month ban was similar to crippling the Guild’s flow of profit because they couldn’t rely on expeditions alone, needless to say that dungeon runs were twice as profitable as expedition. When several hunters heard the harsh punishment passed on the hunters and Guilds that violated the rule, several bronze ranked hunt
