Forced Marriage

Diana

I stormed into my father's study, my face twisted in anger. "How could you do this to me, Father?" I exclaimed, throwing a crumpled letter onto his desk.

My father, one of the influential man in Florida, looked up from his work with a sigh. He must have been expecting my visit. "What is the matter now, Diana?" he asked, trying to keep his voice calm.

"This!" I gestured angrily at the letter. "You have arranged for me to marry some annoying random man whom I barely know. I won't do it, dad. I won't be tied down to someone I don't even love."

He shot me a hard stare. "Diana, you are twenty years old and has come of age to get married and as your dad, I have gotten you a perfect husband. You should be happy and not the other way round."

" I'm not asking for your help dad. I don't need your help. I will get married at the right time and to the right person"

"We're both saying the same thing honey. The right time is now and the right person is Rutherford. He is a good match and will add to your influence. You should be grateful for the opportunity."

Rutherford?. Sounds boring.

"I am already influential and I don't need any other help." I growled at him. " Moreover, I have someone already. And you know who that is".

"Ethan?" He asked with a part of his chin lifted up.

"Yes Dad. I and Ethan are together. He is powerful, influential and the current sole heir of the Silverado's empire. And handsome too." I blushed at the last word. "What more do you want?"

"What if he isn't the sole heir as everyone thought?" He furrowed his brows.

"What do you mean?"

He lets out a sigh and cupped my face. "Look Diana. I'm your father and you know that I will never take any decision that wouldn't be to your own benefit. Rutherford is the best husband for you and you should just listen to me ."

"But father, You have always supported our marriage. Why the sudden change of mind?" I cracked. Dad has always been in support of my relationship with Ethan. The day I told him about it, he was so happy and applauded me for making a good decision that would not just favor me but the company too. And now, he has suddenly changed his mind?. Who's this Rutherford?.

He lets go of my face. "Enough Diana. I have chosen Rutherford and I want you to get married to him and there's nothing you can do about it."

My face fell and i knew there was no arguing with my stubborn father. With a heavy heart, I hissed and stormed out of the room. I angrily got to the garage and drove off. Ever since my mum died, I have been living a lonely and miserable life. Everyone sees me as a rich, happy princess but I'm faraway from that. My dad hardly spends time with me and is so obsessed with becoming rich and gaining power.

Now, he wants me to get married to a stranger?. Even after knowing that I like someone else. I brought my car to a halt as I stopped before the mighty building. I usually go to shop here whenever I'm angry. I shop for both necessary and unnecessary stuffs until my anger seeps away. My father is wealthy after all and it's my duty to help him spend his fortune.

I catwalked into the designer boutique, my sunglasses pushed up onto my head and my heels clicking on the marble floor. I tried to maintain a calm face as a lot of thoughts ran through my mind. Should I tell Ethan about the forced marriage?. Should I just listen to dad and be the annoying good girl he wants?.

"What the heck!" I shrieked as my body collided with a broader and stronger body causing my purse to fall to the ground. My heart broke into thousand pieces as I stared at my designer customized purse which was specifically made for me. Ethan had travelled all the way to Italy just to get this purse. It's the only one of it's kind and is made of Gold and decorated with eagle's feathers.

"Hey. Are you blind?. Didn't you see me coming?" A voice hoarded.

"What?" I exclaimed and raised my head to see who the sick man was. I blinked my eyes as they came in contact with a tall, young,

muscularly built man. He gave out a strange aura, I don't know what it was but it sent cold shivers down my spine. His oval face is blessed with a grey eyes and kissable lips. He was drapped in jeans trouser pants and a yellow shirt - Okay. The last part was a big turn off.

"Do you realize what you have just done?. This purse on the floor can buy everything you own and everything you will ever own in the future." I shrieked.

He just scoffed and made to walk away but I stopped him. He's not only poor but rude. Can't believe they let people like him enter here, I definitely need to have a talk with the manager.

"Are you seriously walking away?. Are you kidding me?. Your dumb brain should tell you that you should fall to my feet and beg for mercy and then pick up my golden purse" I growled at him.

He shot me a hard glare causing me to swallow hard. He suddenly put his hand into his pocket and was about bringing out something when a voice called out.

"Diana"

I turned to see my handsome boyfriend staring at me with smiles plastered all over his face. My anger disappeared immediately as I smiled back. "Hi Ethan"

I brought my eyes back to the spot where the stranger stood and to my disappointment, he was gone. I cussed under my breath and angrily picked up the bag to meet the confused face of Ethan.

"What is wrong honey. You look bothered." I asked.

"Who's that young man standing with you a few minutes ago?" He asked as sweats covered his face.

"Oh. You mean that poor annoying guy. He collided with me and refused to apologize. Why? Is there something wrong?."

"No. He reminds me a lot about someone "He replied, still staring at the door where the annoying jerk had ran away from.
