Chapter 12

Amy shook her head. She smiled gently at Joshua. Then she said, "We don't need anything like that. We've been living together here for a long time. And we've been delighted in this restaurant." Amy paused her sentence. She looked at Joshua gently and said, "And one thing we are pleased about right now is you." Amy said that with seriousness.

Amy said all that because she loved Joshua, and she was happy that he had stood up for her. Even Amy and James are grateful to Joshua, and they are doing well now.

"Joshua, we are very grateful to you. You did a great thing to defend us." James patted Joshua's shoulder gently.

Both of them looked at Joshua with serious eyes.  "Joshua, you have changed a lot now. And we are delighted with your change." There, Amy immediately gave Joshua a hug. But Joshua seemed to have a flat facial expression, and Joshua did not return Amy's hug.

After a few seconds, Amy released her hug from Joshua's body. She smiled warmly. Joshua also looked at Amy's face, and then he said, "I guess after this, you might need two other employees next." After saying that, Joshua left the place.

Amy and James didn't know what Joshua meant by that. Both of them still had the energy to serve the few customers. After all, there weren't too many customers coming to the cafe.

Two days passed when Amy and James had just opened the cafe, suddenly a lot of customers arrived, and this seemed unusual.

Amy looked at James. "Hurry up and prepare the bread. They're waiting for it. Two more customers also ordered the same food." Amy stated that by wiping away the dripping sweat. She felt tired and could hardly serve those who came to her cafe. Even after the departure of her customers, there would be new customers coming in.

The customers were so full that Amy and James were almost unable to rest. But at this moment, Amy suddenly thought of something.  She considered Joshua's remark that they should look for two employees to help them here.

Unbeknownst to the old couple, after Joshua departed from the cafe two days ago, Joshua contacted Peter and asked him to do something to make the old couple's cafe get more customers.

"James, I think what Joshua said is true. We need to find two people to help us out here. Because suddenly, in the past two days, there have been so many customers. I won't be able to serve like this all day." Amy said that to her husband.

James nodded in agreement. His old age made him unable to be too agile in providing services to the customers who kept coming.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Joshua was seen in a cake shop. Several pieces of cake with various shapes and colours adorned the glass display case before him. Joshua stands before the display case, tapping two fingers on the glass. Meanwhile, his gaze continues to sweep over the selection of cakes in front of him.

Joshua let out his breath. It had been fifteen minutes since Joshua had stood and looked at the selection of cakes, and he had yet to make his choice.

Several people seemed to be watching Joshua from earlier. Of course, Joshua's presence made them feel uncomfortable. "Why does that man keep standing there? Doesn't he have any money to buy?" A man named Frank glanced at Joshua with a cynical look.

Meanwhile, Frank's friend Harper also turned to look at Joshua. Even Joshua had arrived earlier than Harper and Frank, but the man had yet to leave.

Harper noticed Joshua's appearance and observed him with up-and-down eye movements. Joshua was only wearing a very ordinary-looking shirt, making Harper sneer at him. "I guess you're right. He looks ordinary, and I don't think he has the money to buy a cake in this place."

They were pretty sure that Joshua didn't have enough money to buy a single piece of cake that cost over fifty dollars. And they certainly didn't think the price was right for poor Joshua.

Frank is still looking at Joshua with a cynical look. "If he didn't have enough money, he should have left immediately and not kept standing there all this time. Doesn't he realise how annoying he is?" Frank said that with quite a loud intonation of voice. He didn't care if Joshua would hear him. Even more deliberately, Frank wanted to let Joshua hear his words so that the poor man would move to leave.

Meanwhile, Joshua, of course, heard the words of the two people behind him. However, he remained relaxed because what happened was that Joshua had a lot of money. He could even buy all the cakes in the shop.

Joshua did not care about the people who were talking about him. Even now, he was still busy wanting to choose one of the cakes that he thought was delicious.  He paid close attention to determining which option was the best for him. Because Joshua doesn't like cakes, either, it's just that, right now, he wants to try it.

Harper was still staring at him. "He's still standing there. He should leave immediately and find a cheaper store instead. He's such an embarrassing guy." Harper said those words in a loud voice as well. She wanted Joshua to leave immediately.

Suddenly, a woman approached Joshua. She smiled at him and said, "Can I help you? You've been looking at that cake. Do you want to buy it?"

Joshua turned to the woman who spoke softly to him. A woman with short brown hair was smiling at Joshua. And that woman's name was Julie.

This time, Joshua nodded his head. He looked at her face and spoke, "Yes, I want to eat one of the cakes here. It's just that I'm still confused about which one to choose." Joshua tapped his fingers on the glass display case again.

Joshua's and Julie's words caught the attention of the two men sitting behind them. Both men sneered. "As I suspected, if he wants to eat cake, but he doesn't have the money to buy it," Harper spoke mockingly.

"Why is he so bold as to come and want to eat at this place? Doesn't he know that this place is an expensive cake shop?" Frank also spoke by giving Joshua a low look.

Harper shook her head. "He's such a shameless guy. He just deliberately wants to take advantage of his woman's money." She smiled sarcastically afterwards.

Joshua and Julie heard the jeering voices of the two people behind them. And Julie knew that, of course, they were taunting Joshua.

Julie exhaled, and she looked back at Joshua. "Why, since you haven't chosen a cake at all?" There, Julie looked at Joshua gently. She was just curious about Joshua, who had been here.

Joshua turned to her for a glance, then said, "Actually, I only need one cake because I don't like cake enough." Joshua looked back at the two cakes that had been his choice. Then he said, "I just don't know which is better between black and red."

Julie looked at the two cakes that Joshua was currently pointing at. Then she asked, "Do you have a sweet tooth?" Julie frowned as she asked Joshua.

Joshua shook his head briefly. He looked back at Julie's face and spoke, "I don't like sweet flavours."

Julie smiled slightly. "That would be an easy choice. If you don't like sweets, you'd better choose black. Because it's not too sweet." Julie explained to Joshua.

Finally, Joshua managed to make a decision about which cake he would buy until finally Joshua bought a black cake. Then he spoke to the waitress who was there. "Give me that black cake."

The waitress nodded and immediately gave Joshua the cake he ordered. But suddenly, the woman reached into her bag and intended to pay for the cake bought by Joshua. There, Julie thought that Joshua didn't have the money to buy the cake.

The two people were still watching Julie and Joshua. Then there Harper spoke, "That's right. That man just wants to use that woman's money. What a shameless man." Harper spoke loudly so that Joshua and Julie would hear her.

"What a shameful man. If you don't have the money, you shouldn't have bought it here. You should know that this is a high-priced cake shop." Frank also insulted Joshua.

Meanwhile, Joshua glanced at Julie. Before she could take the money out of her bag, Joshua held her hand, and he took out a card first to pay the cashier.

This made the cashier very surprised when he received the card from Joshua. It wasn't a regular card, but a black card that not even just anyone could have.

"What, how is that possible?" Harper held her head with both hands. He also stared at the black card that Joshua had just given to the cashier. Both men were currently widening their eyes. He did not have the same card as Joshua.
