Chapter Thirty

Ryan was jolted awake by a faint sound in the dead of night: footsteps.

For a moment, his heart raced, his senses on edge, but then a cool calm settled over him.

He moved to the window.

Barely shifting the curtain, he peered out just enough to spot three figures outside, moving like shadows across the yard. They were quiet, but not quiet enough.

A quiet chuckle slipped from his lips. “They have no idea what they’ve walked into.”

They thought they were hunting, but they had just stepped into the wolf’s den. It didn't matter who they were and what they wanted, he would make them regret this.

Silently, he slipped out of his room, moving swiftly down the hall. He needed to make sure Jane and Lauren were safe—there was no room for casualties.

"Ryan? Can’t you see it’s the middle of the night?" She mumbled, her voice thick with sleep, as she opened the door, answering his knock.

"What is it?"

Her sleepy expression quickly turned to shock when he told her they were not alone.
