004. The Arrogant Woman

"Then why are you just keeping silent while watching that man insult me? You just stood there silently watching Edward talk as he pleased!" Leon said calmly, now he was totally disappointed on Claire.

Claire frowned. She folded her arms and said. "Did I hear right? Are you mad at me because I didn't defend you?"

Claire said disappointingly, "Leon, if you were a real man, you would definitely be able to stand up for yourself, or you could just accept his offer. Why are you relying on help from a woman?"

Claire became increasingly convinced that her decision to divorce Leon was the best decision. The man was nothing more than a loser.

Leon just keep silent at Claire's words. He mused. 'I'm not a real man? In fact, I've founded a company that is in the top 10 in the city. If Claire really thinks I'm not a real man just because I don't have any achievements, she's wrong!' He thought.

'So Claire hopes that I should accept that arrogant man's offer to become a waiter? I still can't believe that Claire likes to see me being looked down upon like that!' Leon kept grumbling in his heart.

Leon only wanted true, sincere love, not love based on wealth and material things. Seeing Leon, who was silent, Claire got up from her seat. She sighed as she glanced at Leon in disgust. "Leon, why are you just silent? That means what I said is true, right?"

"My silence doesn't mean it's true. You just don't get it, Claire!" replied Leon.

Claire chuckled. "Don't get it? What is it that I don't get it?" she teased.

"I don't want to talk about it!" Leon insisted. It was useless to talk to Claire because she had changed.

“Okay, Leon, I also want you to understand something about me now," Claire asked.

Leon wrinkled his forehead. "What is it?"

"From now on, don't even think about following me again! Remember, we are divorced, and our world is different too. What exactly do you expect from me by continuing to follow you? It won't make me want to be your wife, so stop wishing!" protested Claire as she pointed her index finger at Leon.

"I never really followed you, Claire! Don't ever think that I'm following you! Why couldn't I be invited to this party?" Leon dodged.

Even if he came to this party to avoid his ex-wife, how could Claire keep accusing him of following her? If Leon had known that he would meet Claire here, he definitely would not have come to this party.

Claire was really disappointed, "Sorry Leon, I never thought that the divorce would upset you so badly. But you need to be clear that even if we're divorced, you could still find a job and a common woman, enjoy your own life. We're not in the same world now."

Leon wanted to explain why he could be at the party, but there was no way he would. He still hides his true identity so he can see any arrogant people who look down on him.

"I hope today is the last day we meet!" Claire sighed in annoyance. "Don't ever follow me again, or I will report you to the police!" she threatened.

Leon tried to look calm, even though he was really emotional when he heard that Claire kept insulting him. Those dark hazel eyes were a sign that Leon's anger was gathering there. His hands clenched tightly with emotion. Without saying another word, Claire hurriedly left from there.

Leon stared at Claire's back, which was now getting further away from his sight. "I didn't expect that the woman I love so much wasn't a sincere woman. She is just a utilitarian woman," Leon muttered. He felt sorry for himself. So all this time, he has not found his true love.

At that moment, Leon's phone rang. He immediately received the call.

"Goodnight, Young Master. Sorry for bothering you," said the general manager.

"Yeah, no problem," Leon replied.

"Young Master, I heard that you have returned to being the heir? Congratulations, Young Master, I am very proud of you. I always believe that you can do it. You are great!" praised the general manager congratulating him.

A smile appeared on Leon's lips. At least he still got praise and recognition from others that he was not a loser like Claire told him. He felt his efforts were not in vain. There were still many people who can appreciate it.

"Thank you very much!" replied Leon. "By the way, how is the state of the company now?" he asked.

"Everything is going well, Young Master. But there is something. It's just that cooperation with your wife's company is not profitable, "explained the general manager.

Leon pondered. Of course, cooperation with Claire's company was unprofitable because he ordered his company to provide the best discount for Claire.

If it wasn't to make Claire happy, Leon wouldn't have done it. He just wanted Claire to be happy and proud, but now it ended with her constantly insulting and belittling him. How ridiculuous! Claire's company would find it difficult to develop without Leon's help.

"Yes, of course. I always told you to give her the best discount. It's no wonder that cooperation with Claire's company is not profitable," Leon responded.

"Yes, Young Master. I know that this is the best decision from you."

"Actually, this is not the best decision." Leon took a deep breath. He began to think about the continuation of this collaboration.

"Anyway, these two companies will soon become assets of the Jensen family," explained the general manager.

But Leon just replied calmly, "Assets of Jensen's family? I don't think so. We don't really need such a small company in our family."

The manager was cought off guard at first, but soon he understood Leon's mean.
