"My biological father has passed away, and my mother married a man. My step father doesn't like Grandma living with him, so I have to stay here with Grandma. We can't afford land in residential areas." Elena explained her situation with a tight feeling in her chest. She averted her gaze from Leon, hiding her teary eyes.

"Do you want to move from here?" Leon asked.

"Of course! Who really wants to stay here forever?" Elena said with a bitter laugh.

Leon could understand what Elena was feeling. The girl wiped the corners of her eyes to make sure there weren't any glints of tears in her eyes and then looked up at Leon.

"Do you live in the city?" Elena asked.

Leon nodded. "Yes, I was born and raised in the city. I've never lived in a village, especially in the middle of a forest like this."

"I wish I could be like you. If I lived in the city, surely I would be able to get a better job than just being a farmer."

"Maybe one day you can move there."

"I hope."
