Chapter 65

Flashback

"Ryan!" A woman in her late thirties called as she walked around the sitting room of a small apartment somewhere in the woods.

"Mum?" A very young girl who was about twelve years of age replied to her mother as she walked out from the inner room in the house. "Yes, mum?" The girl, who happened to be little Ryan, answered again as soon as she saw her mother.

"I was looking for you." She said.

"I was inside putting on my boots. I want to go to the well to fetch water before it's late." Ryan replied as she bent down to tie the loose lace of her boots. That was the boot she wore whenever she wanted to go the well. According to her, it was easy for her to walk whenever she carried water and in case she fell, she wouldn't hurt her feet too much.

"What?!" Her mother exclaimed. Then, she looked at a wall clock at the far end of the room. "Can't you see it's late already? You want to get water this evening?"
