Chapter 78

"Goodbye. Remember it well. You're a loser," Hendrik taunted with a sardonic smile.

Hendrik's face lit up when he saw Aiden's body lying weakly on the ground. Happiness enveloped his heart. Soon I will win, Hendrik thought. He reversed the direction of his horse. Before moving the horse, Hendrik looked back.

"Have fun with the wild animals that may soon come to pounce on you," Hendrik said followed by a booming laugh.

Without guilt, without compassion, Hendrik left Aiden who was screaming in pain. The cunning man drove his horse forward. The finish line was not yet in sight and he did not want to waste time to get the victory immediately. Ignorant of Aiden's fate, all Hendrik could think about was his ego to always be the winner.

Meanwhile, Aiden limped to his feet. Holding his aching body, Aiden looked at Hendrik's departure. He looked straight ahead without averting his eyes.
