“She gave birth in the Aeroplane?” Humphrey asked.
“Yes. She has been taken to the medical department,” Sir Herbert responded.
Humphrey walked out of their presence and headed to the medical department. He wanted to set his eyes on the baby. Sir Herbert and few of the chosen police paced behind him as he walked rapidly through the corridor. He asked for which theatre he was admitted and they went to check up on her.
When Humphrey left the theatre, he ordered the release of Monk Pat. This time, Monk Pat wasn’t glad with the release, he was wishing to leave UltraDope with the mother and the baby. He had been having diverse thought on the plan of the president towards the child. He was glad that he had built a good relationship with Sir Herbert in the twilight of his stay in the prison and he would bank on that to be getting information.
Humphrey returned to his office, this time in deep thought about what to do with the baby and the mother. He had plans to execute them but kinda not comfortable. His father never built sick reputation, he did care about that. He invited Sir Herbert to his office. A few minutes later, he touched down at his office.
“We are executing that baby and the mother tonight,” Humphrey.
Sir Herbert emotional was downed immediately. The long time prophecy that had been made and he had been warned against it kept resuscitating in his psyche.
“Why sir?” Sir Herbert asked.
“Why? He must be a devilish child to have come to the world with such dark fate. That’s endangering I and my family.”
“I have a better suggestion.”
“Ok. What’s that?”
“Why not send the baby and her mother into exile?”
“No. I have a feeling that they will be back. You shouldn’t worry. All that you needed to do is kill him. The baby will be executed publicly so that the public will know the reason he was killed. A dark fated child can’t be allowed in our society.”
Sir Herbert was quiet. At that moment, he knew there was nothing that could be said to convince the president. He walked out gently without uttering a word. He was in his office when Hemingway paced in without knocking. Hemingway was to be stopped at the entrance by the secretary of Sir Herbert’s department but he turned a deaf ear to the calling of the lady. Sir Herbert lifted his head in panic with the sudden opening of the door.
“I am sorry, Herbert.”
Sir Herbert sigh slowly.
“I just heard the announcement made now that everyone should be at the Supreme Court on Thursday that a judgement was to be made for a dark fated child,” Hemingway said.
Sir Herbert removed the left hand he was using to support his head forthwith na d gazed at Hemingway.
“What did you just say?”
“Judgement day on Thursday that’s overnorrow.”
Hemingway was yearning for a response from Sir Herbert but he was just shaking his head. Sir Herbert wasn’t in his psyche at that moment. He wasn’t even concerned with the fact that the child was going to be killed. He knew he was the one that would make the arrangement and there was no way the prophecy couldn’t come to pass. Turning down the request to follow President Humphrey order might come with adverse effect which might end him up locked in the prison.
Hemingway left without getting a response as Sir Herbert was left heartbroken. On that sitting he had made the decision to visit the monk because he knew he was the only one that could come to his rescue at that moment.
Mr Darlington on the other hand wasn’t that disturbed since the monk has been released and normalcy had returned to the city of Vatice. It was like a won lottery when he went to welcome him after being told by Minister Hemingway of his homecoming.
When Sir Herbert left UltraDope later that day, he booked a flight to Vatice where he went to meet the monk. The hadn’t heard about the announcement because he lives in solitude and didn’t have any form of social communication. Most of the prophecies that did go viral where the one that the gods did direct him to go and make publicly.
He was seated on his wooden chair with his eyes glued at the entrance of the forest beside where he built his house. When the footstep kept repeating, he already knew who it was from the smelt of the person without looking at the back.
“Sir Herbert,” the monk said.
Sir Herbert looked sideways because from the distance while he was coming, he never saw the monk tweaked his head behind and he was surprised he knew that he was the one. He kept twirling his eyes around. That was his second time being at his residence.
“Monk Pat. How do you know I was the one?”
“What brings you here?”
Sir Herbert walked to his front with his two hands clasped at his belly standing upright.
“Monk. There is a trouble. The president has announced Thursday for the judgement of the dark fated child ag the Supreme Court. A public announcement had been made.”
Monk Pat deliberate on what he heard. It was confirmed that it was true. He was surprised though but he embodied. The calmness that he oozes was second to none and he was very compose. The fear on Sir Herbert face wasn’t surprising because he knew why he was there.
“Ok. What do you want me to do for you?”
“I don’t know. The president will certainly give me the duty to execute the baby and perhaps, the mother. But I don’t know what to do. I have come to you for rescue.”
Monk Pat went on his toe and grabbed his right wrist. He held it tight and they walked to the temple where Monk Pat did pray. He kept twirling his eyes around because he had no idea what he was up to.
Monk Pat and Sir Herbert spent a few minutes on the temple while he was ordered to have his eyes closed. A great revelation was made to him during the short period of their eyes closed. Sir Herbert was surprised with the revelation. Monk Pat talked to him and they had a plan on how to go about everything. It was later in the day that Sir Herbert was released to go home and he board the flight back to the capital city. The subsequent day, Sir Herbert returned to work at UltraDope. A few minutes after he touched down in his office, his phone rang. It was a call from the president. He already knew what he wanted to discuss with him. He walked into his office.“You will be the one that will execute the child at the court tomorrow. I have talked to the nurse. Concerning the mother, they will take care of that,” Humphrey said.Sir Herbert looked into his eyes without a reaction. He never knew that he would be killing the mother too however the statement already confirmed that. Humphrey gaze
Late in the night after everyone had vacated their duty post. Sir Herbert went to the graveyard where the corpse was kept. He dug the ground and made it seemed like the child was buried. He eloped the UltraDope with the baby. The monk had been booked in an hotel at the jurisdiction of UltraDope. Sir Herbert walked in to the hotel room.“Monk Pat. Let’s go. The baby is in the car. He needs immediate attention at the moment.”“What of the mother?” The mock asked.Sir Herbert sighed.“She had been killed. I saw a stretcher being pushed out of the medical department. But I was leading the police after dropping the child at the grave where he was to be buried and I wasn’t chanced to check up on her. I am having the feeling that she had been killed.”The monk nodded and led the way to the exit. They went into the car immediately and the hotel attendant bills was settled by Sir Herbert. The monk was already at the entrance waiting for him. Forthwith the bill was settled, they paced to the ca
Castro had come off age and gotten used to the environment. A lot of Monk Pat’s sojourners did refer to him as a mysterious child. There were some uncommon trait that he did limn that it had restricted the in flow of people into the temple. Sir Herbert had been one of the secret father of the child paying monthly visit to the temple and also consult the monk on some personal issues. Sir Herbert’s life hadn’t remained the same since he knew the monk and a lot of personal problem had been solvable.Monk Pat was done having his morning prayer and he ambled down the steps up to his temple. Castro walked up to him. It was his birthday and there was a long time promise the monk made to him. It was a day he had been looking forward to. The first thing standing up from his bed was to go to the temple because he knew that where the monk would be. There were a lot of things he had heard from people who had come around the forest and was eager to know more. Most of his questions had been turned
A week later after Castro’s birthday, Monk Pat took a lengthy stroll to the forest as usual leaving Castro behind to look over the temple. Castro had had the long time plan of having a look at the city of Carten. He had lived all his life near the forest with the monk who seldom go out of the temple jurisdiction, his farthest visit had always been in the bush. The first time he entered UltraDope was when he was apprehended. When he returned to the temple, he saw everywhere quiet. He was expecting to see Castro running about and throwing stones at the birds of the sky as he always did.He wasn’t that concern when he didn’t see him at first, he thought maybe he went to the bush to pop or get something. Few minutes later, the concern was exacerbating in his psyche. He walked around and asked the forest sojourner if they saw him and none could give an answer. Some even avoided answering the question because Castro was like a plague due to some inhuman trait they had seen in him. “Where
Castro walked around the market square helter-skelter with the hope to also commence stealing since that’s what the jobless guys on the street did to survive. It was really a hard one for him being a novice, he kept having the reminiscent of how the money was removed from his pocket, at the end of the day, he concluded that it couldn’t be done alone. Hence, he made the decision to incorporate himself into those guys. His aim looking for those guys this time was to make friends with them, he was certain that they lived around the market. Amidst looking for them, he saw a store which no one was keeping an eye on. He twirled his eyes around and confirmed that they was no one keeping an eye on it. He ambled to the placement. There were myriad of fruit displayed which were captivating. His major interest was in the Apple which he seldom eat. That was the only fruit that he could hardly see in the forest when he did go with Monk Pat.Most of the times he did eat Apple was when his father’
At the end, one of the guys was convinced and felt like taking him in after the stories they heard from him. Although the story was kinda distorted so he wouldn’t be deported back to the temple. They walked to the apartment where they were staying. It was a single room and they all squat in it together. When they reached the apartment, Castro didn’t believe at first that it was meant for the group of guys. The guys were six in numbers, joining them made it seven. Castro was mostly loved by Emmett who was also an handsome young guys. He had been living on the street if Camyork since he was released from the prison. His life had been around gambling and engaging in illicit activities. Emmett and his colleagues could engage in anything as far as it could fetch them money. He sat Castro down forthwith they touched down in their swell and he went to put some water on the fire.“Hey, guy. The gas in that cylinder isn’t that much. You have to be careful with what you are using it for. This f
Castro was seated at a side as the guys began to gamble. Different kinds of gambling activities were going on. Although, the guys shared themselves. Gambling was also a source of income for them. They were at the gambling spot until it was evening. Castro was already jaded having seated for that lengthy hour at one spot. He had lost interest in whatsoever they were doing, although, he joined the guys as he saw them supporting different people. He threw his own support behind Emmett and he won the highest among his friend. Castro seemed to be a lucky charm he came to the gambling spot with.In the end, he lost interest as his voice was almost gone. There was no water that he could use to quench his thirst. He was jus twirling his eyes around like a headless chicken. Emmett seemed to have concluded playing as he had made enough for the day. That was the highest he would be making in a day. Most of the times he had gained some money from bets, it has always been after he had lost a lot a
“Run! Run!! Run!!!” The guy were shouting. They were being pursued by the state police after the constant complaint of the people towards the guys. They weren’t only the group who did engage in such activities. It was still dawn which they deemed perfect to execute their illicit activities. Castro, as he was running with the guys away from the police, he was thinking of what to do. There was no way they would be caught because some of the police men were on the bike riding through the narrow spaces and some were running after them.Castro ensured he was the last among them, he saw the need to sacrifice himself so the guys could flee. He stopped after grabbing his hand on a long bamboo stick and he held it with his chest high. He whacked the first police man who wanted to hit him with his bike. He laid the stick on the road and eloped. They went after him immediately, although, they had relaxed. It was against the law of the Carten Society for a police to shoot the citizen who they wer
