Richard was exhausted. He just finished washing the pile of dirty clothes Victoria left before leaving for work. Clumsily, he journeyed to the master bedroom and fell face-up on the bed. "Life sucks," he exclaimed.
Then, his phone rang. The caller was Victoria. "Hello," Richard greeted.
"Please come get me for work, I am feeling dizzy and can't drive."
"But," Richard tried to say something but he changed his mind.
"Are you trying to say something?"
"'Yes, how will I get to your office, I don't have money to get a cab."
"That's why I called you two hours earlier, you know what to do," Victoria ended and hanged up.
When Richard eventually got to the office, he was in-between life and death. Victoria was already standing beside the car. She was staring at her wristwatch.
"What took you so long? Or did you go to visit a female friend?"
Richard was mute.
Please start the car, I am exhausted. Richard got into the car and started the engine. Halfway through their journey, the car engine stopped in the middle of the road. "What is wrong," Victoria inquired.
"I don't know," Richard replied.
Richard immediately came down from the car. "What happened to the car," Victoria inquired again.
"The engine is bad," Richard announced.
Victoria came down from the car. What do we do now? "One disgrace isn't enough already? What will people say seeing the granddaughter of lady Tashia stranded on the road."
Just then, a white Bugatti car drew a stop beside Victoria's car. A young man about Richards's age came down from the car and came close to Victoria.
"Hi beauty," he greeted. "I can see you are stranded, what is wrong with the car?"
"I don't know," Victoria replied.
"Is that your driver?" he inquired gesturing to Richard.
"Yes," Victoria replied.
"I would I thought so. Can I give you a lift?"
"Hmmm, I don't.." Victoria stammered.
"Oh come on."
"Okay."
"Be my guest," the stranger said with a slight bow.He rose up his head still staring at Richard.
"Why are you staring at him that way," Victoria inquired.
"I think I know him from somewhere," Williams replied.
"Certainly not Jacob," Victoria lied about Richard's name. She shot a dead glance at Richard compelling him to comply.
"Do I know you before," Williams inquired of Richard.
"I don't think so sir," Richard replied.
"It's okay, I must have mistaken you for someone else, let's get going," he ended.
Richard watched as they got to his car and zoomed off. Quickly, Richard got his phone from his pocket. The stranger looked so much like his cousin Williams. He searched for the picture. He was the one for sure, Williams Armstrong.
The fact that Victoria called him her driver made him really sad. But that did not matter now, he had to meet Victoria at home. He got into the car and started the engine. Miraculously, the car started.
Richard drove at an alarming speed, his strong instincts told him something was wrong. When he got to the house, the door was locked. Just as he left it. With the master key still in his pocket, he gained entrance into the house.
"Victoria," he screamed, but the echoes of his voice were the only answers he received. "What his she up to," Richard thought.
Richard sat on the sofa in the living room hoping that Victoria will come home soon. But she never did. He fell asleep on the Sofa when he eventually got tired of waiting. Richard's inner mindset into sail. He had a strange dream, in his dream, Williams was romancing his wife.
Richard woke up from this strange nightmare sweating profusely. He took a glance at the wall clock, the time just clocked at eleven pm. Then, Richard heard the sound of a car outside, Victoria's new lover just dropped her. The doorbell rang a few minutes later but Richard remained on the Sofa. He was already foaming with anger.
"Where are you coming from," Richard fired as Victoria stepped into the house.
"Do I owe you an explanation?" Victoria thundered.
"This madness has to stop, a married woman staying outside her matrimonial home till this time?"
At this, Victoria burst into laughter.
"You called me a married woman, married to whom, you? You must be joking."
"Say whatever you want to say, we are legally married."
"And I am planning to put an end to that very soon."
"What do you mean," Richard stammered.
"I am going for a divorce."
"You can't do that."
"Dare me and see. Besides, I have gotten someone better."
"You mean you already like that stranger?" Richard muttered.
"Like is an understatement, we did it already."
"Did what."
"We had sex," Victoria said almost in a whisper. She knew that was seriously going to hurt him. A stranger gained access to her body while her husband has not touched her for over a year now.
"You did what," Richard said almost tearing. Another heart break but this struck him more than the death if his father.
"He was so all over me and I was sex starved. Few hours later, I was beside him, on the bed."
"That isn't the only thing, he took my virginity."
"And you have the guts to tell me this?"
"That should make you understand that your days with me are numbered," Victoria said with a mischievous smile.
"Are you this wicked? I am sure you don't even know the name of that stranger and you have already gone this far with him?"
"I know his name. Not everyone is as stupid as you are. Williams Armstrong if you care to know.
"That is him for sure, my ambitious cousin," Richard thought.
Victoria's phone rang and she answered the call while Richard stood staring blankly at him. "Hi, Victoria."
"Rachael?"
"Yeah, I may be calling at a very weird hour but this is very important."
"What is it."
"It is good news, at least for us, Mr. Davis Armstrong is dead."
"What," Victoria exclaimed. And you call that a piece of good news?"
"I said for us, dummy. You are beginning to behave like that man you call your husband."
"You don't have to insult me. What makes it a piece of good news for us."
"You know mum was talking about a partnership with the Armstrong business empire right?"
"Yeah, I remember that."
"This is an opportunity we can't afford to lose. I did a little research and I discovered that Mr. Davis's only son is still abroad and he is not interested in his father's business."
"So who will now take over the business?" Victoria inquired.
"One of his nephews. I learned he knows all about the business and there is no other person to do it."
"What is the name of this new manager?" Victoria inquired.
"Williams Armstrong," Rachael revealed.
"What, Williams Armstrong?" Victoria repeated.
"Do you know him?"
"Yes, maybe," Victoria stammered.
"What are you saying."
"Can you send me his recent photo?" Victoria pleaded.
"What are you going to use them for, assassinate him?" Rachael mocked.
"Come on sis."
"As you wish." Rachael hanged up. A few minutes later, the photos arrived. "It's him," Victoria exclaimed.
Excited, Victoria gave Rachael a phone call. "Have you gotten it?" Rachael inquired.
"Yes, guess what."
"You have finally decided to divorce Richard?"
"Seriously," Victoria exclaimed.
"Then what. Apart from that, I don't think there is any other thing to be excited about."
"I met him."
"Vicky, stop beating around the bush and go straight to the point."
"I met the Armstrong's group new manager today."
"Do you think it is time to joke?"
"I am telling the truth, Rachael, he even said he liked me and he would love to get married to me."
"Don't you think this was a dream or something?"
"Rachael," Victoria exclaimed.
"No Vicky, don't get me wrong. This is too good to be true. You met a stranger today and he told you he is the new manager of the Armstrong group and he lkes you?"
"He didn't tell me he is the Armstrong group's new manager, I discovered that just now."
"Vicky, if what you are saying is true, that means you will become grandma's favorite. But didn't you tell him about Richard?"
"Not yet."
"But don't you think that was too fast. I mean you just meant him today and he already likes you?"
"Doesn't the word love at first sight ring a bell to you?"
"Yeah, it does. Just play your cards well, we can't afford to lose this one."
"So what are you going to do about Richard," Rachael continued. "That would not pose a problem, we will cross that bridge when we get to it." "The fact that he took my Virginity will be enough to convince him that I am not married before now. As for Richard, a few dollars will shut him up," Victoria thought. "I will break this good news to mum tomorrow," Rachael ended and hung up. "Why are you staring at me that way," Victoria inquired. "I never knew the woman I got married to was this shameless." "Call me shameless again and you will rot the jail and I assure you, nobody will miss you." "But I thought you hated the Armstrong family," Richard said. "When did we discuss anything about the Armstrongs," Victoria inquired. "During our courtship." "I said that because I was jealous. But that doesn't matter now, I will soon be married to one of them." "You won't dare," Richard threatened. "You don't have to worry, I will persuade grandma to compensate you with a milli
At late Mr. Davis Armstrong's Villa. At about three am, Ken pulled the cover away from his body, so as not to disturb Danxo, the man assigned to keep a close eye on him. His mission tonight was to take a shot of the evidence that states Williams as Mr. Davis's true murderer and send It to Richard. It was a short note written by Mr. Davis with his signature before his death. Ken knew he would not be able to keep it for long in the Villa, before one of Willam's guards find it. When he returned to the Villa, he informed Williams that he had been away for a while because his mother was very sick and the former owner of the Villa permitted him to go and take care of his sick mother. Though Williams had some doubt about the former security officer, Ken knew he was going to retain him. Especially, to keep a close eye on him. Immediately Ken was retained, he was assigned to share a new room with Danxo but he knew that his new roommate's mission was to keep a close eye on him. A countl
It was Saturday morning. Richard sat down on the sofa hmming a sorrowful tune as tears flow down freely from his eyes as he remembered the death of his father and what Victoria did to him the previous night. He had decided not to do anything today, even if it means the house would be covered with dust. It didn't matter anymore, Victoria had decided to divorce him. Meanwhile, Victoria remained in her room, bursting into short laughter at regular intervals. She was chatting with her friend Elsa. Richard knew the laughter was made towards annoying him but he refused to be moved. Then, the doorbell rang. Reluctantly, he answered the call and his eyes met with someone he did not want to see, not today. It was Lady Tashia and her bad mouth. "Good morning grandma, great to see that you are looking happy today," Richard complimented trying to fake a happy look. "Do you mean I am always sad?" the old lady returned coldly. "I think it is high time you are kicked out of this house. Such a w
A few hours later, Richard was done with the house chores and almost with cooking. He just had to take the meal to the dining table. He took the fried rice from the burner and dished it into a Large dish. When he was done, he sealed it up. As he was about to take them to the dining, Lady Tashia screamed his name, interrupting him. "Richard," she yelled. "Are you deaf? come down here this minute." "Okay grandma," Richard yelled back. He left what he was doing to answer her call. Meanwhile, Rachael who had been secretly watching him from afar saw this as an opportunity to carry out the evil plan she Intended when she volunteered to join Richard to prepare the meal. As she got to the kitchen door, she spun her head left and right to ascertain that he was really away. "He is gone," She smiled to herself and straightened up. She got close to the burner where Richard kept the food. She opened the lid of the large dish and took a bit of the fried rice. "Great taste," she exclaimed.
"Get me a glass of water garbage," someone screamed from the other end of the table. "I want one too," another screamed. Richard felt like tearing apart as the yell of his name filled the air. Sweat flowed down from his face like a stream of water. "Hey Victoria, Why is your husband so lazy. Just a few calls and he is already sweating? What if he has a job like the rest of us, what will happen to him," David said. He was Victoria's favorite cousin, Lady Tashia's favorite, and Richard's major stalker. He wasn't around at the last business meeting because he traveled for an international conference. "He will melt away," Charles laughed. "Lemme alone," Victoria said smiling. "Enough of all this, the meeting will begin right away," Lady Tashia said. Her voice was so soft but it carried so much authority with it. At her words, the place became as silent as a graveyard. "Mum, don't you think we should take our meal first," Mrs. Lucis inquired. "Okay. Trash bag, what did you m
Meanwhile, Williams Armstrong, the new manager of the Armstrong business group was celebrating his new position with his best friends, Lawrence and Joshua at Legus Hotel, the most classic hotel in the city. On their table were three glasses of Lickis wine, sold at the rate of half a million dollars per glass Lawrence, one of William's friends sat in his chair like someone trying to hide something. His eyes were filled with fear and he shifted on his chair at regular intervals. "Guess who I met yesterday," Williams said smiling sheepishly. "You know we aren't good at guessing," Joshua replied. "Speak for yourself," Williams said. "What about you Lawrence." "How am I supposed to know," Lawrence returned. "I met Victoria," Williams announced. "Who is Victoria again? What about Isabella," Lawrence said. "Let him finish before you attack him," Lawrence said. "Exactly my point. This time it is not all about relationships, it is something else." "We are listening," Lawrence said
Lawrence journeyed to the restroom. His heart was heavy with grief as he walked like a man stripped of his life. He did not feel like using the restroom, he just wanted to get away from Williams and Lawrence. He knew they were evil. If he continued with them, he will not be able to keep his little secret for long. A secret that gave him sleepless nights like the ghost of an old lady. He did not have a stony heart to contain whatever was boiling inside him. Slowly, he brought out his iPhone 11 pro max from his back pocket with his hands visibly shaking. He got into his phone files and played a video. "Finally you will soon join your ancestors and I will become the heir of the company," a voice streamed from the video. It was Williams's voice. It was a video of how Williams poisoned Davis Armstrong's meal when no when was watching. Unknown to him, Lawrence was watching through the back door. He had overheard Williams and Joshua discussing about it. There was nothing he could d
"We have to talk," Joshua said to Williams almost in a whisper. "What do you mean we need to talk? What are we doing now, crying?" Williams returned. "It's something you won't want a soul to hear about. Or I could just spill it out here if you so wish." "I thought we have crossed that bridge already," Williams said crossly. "Not that, it is something else. Something that is eating me up." "Okay. But where do you suggest we go to." "The restroom," Joshua replied. That will offer us a little more privacy. "As you wish. I am right behind you." Joshua went to the restroom first, then Williams followed, a few minutes later. It was to avoid any suspension. "I am here," Williams announced when he got to the restroom. "Cool," Joshua returned. "What is it that is eating you up?" Williams inquired. "You might see this as irrelevant but to me, it's very important. We must take precautions so no one will find out about our little secret." "What precautions?" "It is abou
