It has been more than a century since Lucian returned from the demon realm and told them about the peace. Just as he said, no demon had appeared for over a century. When Lucian stepped out from the gate, awakeners were already waiting for the demons that would come out from the gate. Everyone was surprised to see a human walk out of the gate. Whenever the portal is used in the demon realm, it creates a tear in the human realm from which they walk out. The arrival of Lucian shook the human realm. When he told them of the peace, everyone started seeing him as the hero who brought the peace. Lucian didn't tell them about the demon lord; he just told them he had destroyed the portal before stepping in. Even after he died, they still called him the hero of the world.
With the peace that humans got, they used the time to develop their weapons. They went ahead to make alliances with the elves and even had the elves live among them to teach them some elf magic. They also went into an alliance with the dwarves, and the dwarves were responsible for making strong weapons and magical artifacts. Humans may be weak, but they have resources that other races needed. So, it made them able to get alliances they needed. Even though there was peace, they didn't stop training and developing; they knew the peace would one day come to an end, as Lucian made it clear to them. Also, apart from the demons, they had the monsters to take care of. The monsters were mindless and easy to deal with. So, they didn't see much challenge in taking care of the monsters.
With the elves and dwarves' alliance, the humans also got to visit their realms to help them take care of monster attacks. The three races united and formed a strong alliance. After a hundred years, the demons repaired the portal and resumed their invasions. But this time, they had more than one portal, so they could appear in more places at once. It made things difficult for the humans, but they now had the elves and dwarves to help them. The demons were surprised at the combined effort of the three races. So the invasion didn't go as planned. After that day, the demons only sent minor attacks to the human realm to steal some of their minerals. Sometimes they succeeded, sometimes they didn't. So, just like the humans, they decided to look for allies. The allies the demons would make, would one day plunge the human realm into destruction.
Away from the public eye, some mad scientists were busy conducting inhumane experiments. Experiments to create a stronger version of a human being. Just like the demons, some awakeners were blessed with elemental magic. Not all awakeners had elemental magic, but any awakener with elemental magic was stronger than an ordinary awakener. An A-rank elemental awakener could go toe to toe with an ordinary S-rank awakener. While most elemental awakeners only had control over one element, some few ones could control two elements. Then, in a very rare case, they could control three, but no one had ever been able to control all four elements. So, a man hoped to find a way humans could control all four elements. If humans became able to control all four elements, it would change them from the weakest in all realms to the strongest; no race had a being that could control all elements.
"Doctor Levi." A man in a suit called the scientist in charge of the experiment.
"Yes, Mr. Tilo. Have you come to see how the experiment is going?" Levi smiled as he adjusted his glasses. Doctor Levi is an old eccentric scientist who doesn't care about anything except his experiments. His gray hair was unkempt, and he had a strong smell of alcohol. If not for his knowledge, Tilo would never get close to him.
Mr. Tilo is one of the richest men in the human realm, but his family has only one thing lacking: they have no awakener, which makes them a second-rate family despite his money. So, since there is no awakener in his family, he decided to make one.
"Look." Dr. Levi led Mr. Tilo to watch the experiment. There were different pods with people locked inside.
"For one to be able to handle the power of all the elements, they need a body that can handle it. The pod is altering their bodies. As it alters their DNA, it also injects the awakening serum," Dr. Levi explained the procedure.
"What if they try to attack us after the success of the experiment?" Tilo asked.
"Don't worry about that." Dr. Levi let out a sinister smile. He had implanted a nanobomb in their heads, and if they tried to attack him, he would activate it. Dr. Levi believed that what he was doing was for the greater good of humanity. He believed that the demons would one day come back to repay the defeat they suffered centuries ago. He was certain they would come back stronger, so he needed to make the human race ready. Mr. Tilo didn't care; all that mattered to him was to make his family powerful.
"They are ready." Dr. Levi giggled.
The pods slid open, and the people inside came out. They already knew the drill; they had been here since they were kids. They were kidnapped from orphanages or picked from the street when they were kids. Many of them had died during the experiment, while some died trying to escape or attack the scientist. So, the ones alive had accepted their fates.
"Take your positions." Dr. Levi spoke through the microphone, making them look up. Dr. Levi and Tilo, together with other scientists, were watching from the control room above. They had bulletproof glass protecting them.
"Let's start with air," Dr. Levi ordered, and they started with air. They formed a ball of air, and it spun for a while on top of their palms.
"Water." He ordered, and they all summoned a ball of water. The doctor couldn't contain his excitement.
"Earth."
They did the same.
"Fire." This was where it got bad. The first person who tried to do it fell down and died instantly. Another tried and also dropped dead. Many others died without even trying anything.
"What is happening?" Tilo asked.
"The DNA alteration failed; their bodies couldn't handle it." Dr. Levi spoke sadly. His sadness wasn't because of the people who died, but because of his failed experiment.
"Try fire," he ordered the remaining ones without caring about their lives.
"It will kill us." One of them complained.
"I won't repeat myself. Fire." Dr. Levi didn't care about their lives.
"It will be our death." Before the young man could finish his statement, his head exploded. They knew that Levi was responsible for the death; they just didn't know how. Whenever any one of them tried to attack Levi or escape, they met the same end, so the fear had always made them obey every order given by Levi.
"If you don't want to end up like him, do what I said." There were only five of them remaining now, two females and three males. Since none of them wanted to die, they did as they were told. Luckily, none of them died, but only one was able to ignite the fire. A beautiful girl who looked barely above twenty. As the fire came up, she looked at the young man beside her and smiled; the young man returned the gesture.
"It is a success." Dr. Levi screamed with happiness. But his happiness was short-lived as the girl started bleeding from the nose. Her body couldn't handle all the elements. The young man beside her instantly held her up before she could lose her balance.
"626," he called, and the young girl let out a smile. She had always hated the fact that they had no names, except for the numbers they were called.
"745," she muttered.
"Do something." 745 yelled. Since 626 was important to the experiment, Dr. Levi was not going to let her die. He immediately ordered the girl to be brought to the medical center as fast as possible.
"She will be fine," the remaining girl came and stood beside 745.
"Even if she makes it, we won't be left to live," 755 said.
788 came close before speaking, "Even if they let us, we won't last for much longer; I can feel it."
They all could feel it, and it was something that bothered them. But 745 wasn't bothered about his life. His only concern was the woman he loved and the baby inside her stomach.

Levi was surprised to know that 626 was pregnant. He never knew the children he once kidnapped from the orphanage and streets had grown to the extent of testing the forbidden fruit."Who is the father?" He asked, but got no reply. "Would you prefer their heads to explode?" He asked as he touched the device hanging on his necklace. 626 noticed the action, which gave her the answer to one of their biggest questions. They had always wondered how Levi was able to make their heads explode. So she had just realized it was the device he attached to his necklace."707," she lied and called the one Levi killed earlier today."Well, it doesn't matter. Maybe this child will be the key to everything." Levi's eyes glistened. From then onwards, Dr. Levi started taking care of 626. He never allowed her to have any encounter with the others. So, even though 626 had discovered the device that makes their heads explode, there was no way to tell others. Also, her health kept deteriorating. Days turned t

"Why do you always take this medicine?""My mom said I was a very sick child, so I need this drug," Dante answered before gulping down the drug."Have you ever tried not taking them?" Gavin asked."Yes, I tried once, and I passed out. I need to take it at least once every day," Dante replied."Alright," Adam replied. With Vida gone, the boys had no other option than to adapt. They continued with their sword training and laying traps to catch rabbits. Unfortunately, with Vida gone, Mrs. Joan's soup wasn't as great anymore. The lady had to admit that Vida was the reason th

Dante helped his village repair what was broken after they held funerals for those who had died. Everyone was surprised to see that Dante was still the sweet, humble boy they had watched grow up, and his powers hadn’t made him arrogant. The reporters left three days later when they realized they would get nothing from Dante. He had once smashed a reporter's camera for taking a photo of his mother. Most reporters would throw a tantrum, but after seeing Dante's cold glare, the reporter lost all intention of complaining. The incident served as a warning to others, and none of them dared to try taking a picture of his mother again until they left.“Why don’t you want to call her and have her come pick you up?” Mrs. Joan asked her son. Dante waited for someone from the crowd to help the girl, but no one stepped forward. As a newcomer to the city, he was still unfamiliar with its workings and didn’t want to overstep his bounds. He endured the wait until he could bear it no longer, and finally, he had no choice but to act.“Who are you?” the boy in the middle asked, clearly the ringleader.“Who I am is not important,” Dante replied calmly. “What matters is that she is being forced to follow you three.” As Dante spoke, people around began to take notice of him. Despite his striking looks, there was nothing particularly extraordinary about him. His clothes were worn, his shoes scuffed, and his old backpack suggested an ordinary background.“Hahaha...” The ringleader laughed, clearly judging Dante as a country bumpkin. “I’m guessing you have no idea who I am.”Before the ringleader could continue, the boy standing to his right stepped up to speak. “This is Alex, the only son of the deputy mayor. With the arrival of the demons, there were now five races competing in the tournament. Each had five representatives, making a total of twenty-five participants. Since the tournament was set to begin the next day, everyone chose to retire early. They had hoped to hold a gathering, but the presence of the demons cast a heavy shadow over the idea. Though Mikhail claimed they came in peace, no one could truly predict what a demon might do. Each race decided it was best to caution their youth and ensure they did not underestimate the demon representatives.“You shouldn’t underestimate the demons, or the humans,” King Dwargo warned his delegates. “Though demons are known for their destruction, humans are not as simple as they appear. We often mock them as the weakest, but we know they hold the greatest potential.”He sighed, recalling the tournament where Lucian had defeated all of their representatives. Though dwarves don’t live as long as elves, they still outlive humans. When Lucian was
Demons Demand
Everyone was surprised to see the demon race arriving at the tournament. The demons had never shown any interest in the event before. All they ever seemed to crave was pillaging and destruction. With their sudden appearance, the kings and powerful figures across the realms instinctively stood to defend their young ones.“I understand why you're all on edge because of our arrival,” Mikhail said calmly, unfazed by the hostile gazes of the human awakeners, Elven mages and warriors, or even the dwarves and beastkin. He stood there, relaxed—almost as if he could wipe them all out on a whim.“My fellow kings,” he continued, “I simply want my young ones to participate in the tournament.”“King?” Alarion muttered, stunned. It was unheard of for the demons to use that title. They had always followed a demon lord, the strongest among them, but never a king.“Yes, king,” Mikhail affirmed. “After we overthrew the tyrant, we decided it was time to become more civil. To come together as one. Look a
Arrival Of The Demon King
With Sylvia connected to Dante, he instantly felt refreshed."Would you look at that?" Dante smirked as he stood up again to face the remaining monsters."Don't worry about mana, lay them to waste." Sylvia knew that she had enough mana to make Dante fight nonstop."You heard the lady, you all face obliteration." Dante engaged the monsters for the second time—only this time, he wasn’t scared to use mana-draining skills since he had someone with an almost limitless mana pool.Meanwhile, back in the Elven realm, the competition had just started, and with Dante absent, Leon stood as the human champion.Nobody knew the whereabouts of Dante—even Lucian was nowhere to be found—so there was no one to explain his absence."Maybe the boy realized he had reached his limits, so in order not to embarrass himself, he decided not to come," Mr. Tilo stated, and many believed him.Leon hated the fact that Dante was absent because he wanted to show Dante how strong he had gotten in one year."You haven
One Against Ten
Dante could feel it in the weight pressing down on his chest, in the way the ground seemed to hum beneath his boots. He stood just in front of the ancient monument where the Seed of Yggdrasil floated, a sphere of green-gold light pulsing softly above a carved pedestal of runes. Beside him, Sylvia remained silent, her wide eyes fixed on the monsters that had gathered around them.Without hesitation, Dante raised his hand. A dome of shimmering silver light bloomed into being around Sylvia. The force field buzzed softly, enclosing her within a safe sphere. She gasped and reached toward him through the translucent wall.“You can’t fight them all alone,” she said.“I won’t let them get to you,” Dante replied. His voice was calm, steady, even as his heart pounded like a war drum. “That’s the one thing I won’t let happen.”With a snap of his fingers, a cascade of lightning erupted around his body, arcing and weaving itself into armor. Crackling energy coated his skin and sword, running up hi

Every night, the princess went to sleep holding onto Dante's helm. After staying so long in this place, her beautiful dress was ruined and so filthy that she couldn’t even begin to imagine how bad she must smell.Looking at the princess and how ragged she had become, Dante decided it was time to take drastic measures. He had grown so strong over the past few months, but what was the point of growing stronger if he couldn't leave this place? From their search, he had come to realize that there were only ten calamity monsters, and each one was far stronger than the desert worm. He always tried to avoid fighting them, knowing that engaging one would draw the attention of the others."I refuse to believe there’s no end to this," Dante muttered—and Sylvia woke at that very moment."I have finally found it.""Found what?""The reason I came. The Preparation
Dante remembered Toma saying they would face endless hordes of monsters, but he never imagined it would be this many. He opened the force-field and stepped inside so Sylvia could help him recharge. He could have waited for his mana to recover naturally, but that would take too long, and Sylvia had more than enough to share."Can you move this force-field?" Sylvia asked."Yes. We have to search this land. There must be a way out," Dante replied as he levitated the force-field. He needed a better view of the terrain."Wow," Sylvia muttered. As far as they could see, there were only monsters."They really are endless," Dante said, then began moving the force-field eastward as fast as he could. After a while, they heard a roar. When they turned, they saw a dragon spewing fire. If not for the force-field, they would have been reduced to ashes."That's a calamity-level monster," Aleric muttered, wondering if this was one of the legendary dragons said to be stronger than demons."This is jus
Endless Hordes Of Monsters
"Where are we?" Sylvia asked as she opened her eyes and looked around the unfamiliar place. The sky was crimson red, with no moon or sun in sight. There was no way to tell if it was day or night."It looks like a deadland," Dante replied, scanning the horizon. There wasn’t a single trace of green as far as his eyes could see. "We need to get down and find a way back to our group."They stood atop a barren hill. Nothing surrounded them, just lifeless land stretching endlessly in all directions. Dante was certain they wouldn’t find anything here. But before they could descend, a shrieking sound pierced the air. Monsters came rushing from every direction, their numbers endless."Pardon me, Princess," Dante said as he summoned a forcefield to protect her. He stepped forward, alone.Through their conversations, Dante had learned how powerful Sylvia was. In a one-on-one battle, she could overwhelm most opponents with her sheer mana and nature magic. Fall Of Two Generational Genius
“As long as I live, death shall never claim you.”Dante’s words echoed in her heart like a sacred promise, anchoring her in the storm. Despite the looming terror, Princess Sylvia felt an unexpected calm settle inside her. She felt safe, even in the face of death.Dante stepped forward, steady and sure, his tone cutting through the tension.“Look alive, gentlemen. We are not your average S-rankers.”Toma exhaled through gritted teeth, steeling himself. “It’s almost shameful, having a junior remind me of who I am... but thanks, Dante.”Lucian followed suit, his face composed, though his eyes were sharp with resolve. He stepped forward but paused long enough to cast a shimmering mana shield around Sylvia. Despite possessing the highest mana reserves among them, she wasn’t a fighter. Her strength was not meant for the battlefield.“There’s no holding back,” Toma reminded them. His voice was rough, and sparks of black lightning danced across his fingers.A sudden pulse shook the ground. Th
The Desert Worm
“There hasn't been a single monster since we entered,” Dante stated.“Yes, but we shouldn’t let our guard down,” Lucian advised. It had been two days since they entered the dungeon, and in all that time, they hadn’t seen a single monster. According to Toma, however, the environment was different from the last time he was here.“And when will this desert end?” Even the patient Sylvia was now tired of the endless sand they had been walking on since their arrival.“Hopefully, we’ll get past it soon,” Toma muttered.“The last time you were here, what was the environment like?” Dante asked him.“Well, the first time I came, the dungeon was like any other. We fought against various ranks of monsters, but when we reached what we believed to be the final chamber, S-rank monsters started pouring out. If not for the teleportation talismans we had, many of us would have died,” Toma scoffed, remembering. “The second time, I thought it would be the same, but the moment we stepped in, we found ours
