Choose One

Perry had no choice but to pretend to walk towards Orville's workshop at the side, as it was already dark and the room was void of any candles or torches, pitch black. He gently pushed the door open, only to startle and freeze for a moment as a figure suddenly appeared behind the door, but in the blink of an eye, the figure disappeared.

After waiting a moment for his eyes to adjust to the darkness, he saw more clearly. The room was filled with various items and several half-finished lanterns. Although it was cluttered, there were no hiding spots.

The figure from before couldn't have hidden without causing a disturbance. This meant that the story Orville told might have some truth to it, and even better, it gave him a clear reason to talk.

Perry returned to the old lady, pretending to be panicked: "Ma'am, you said you were here alone, are you sure?"
