Chapter - 05
Eager for his interview, as soon as Alex walked inside the building, the ladies stopped in their tracks. They couldn't help but look a second time and steal glances of the stranger that just walked in. The men, on the other hand, couldn't help but throw venomous glares at the stranger, who in no time captivated almost every girl who laid eyes on him. With that lean, not so muscular built and neatly combed hair, Alex gave that innocent and pure vibe which made the ladies want to devour and conquer him. They just wanted to have some fun with the young man.
Under countless devouring gazes, Alex walked up to the reception and lightly tapped the counter in front of the lady there, trying to get her attention.
"Excuse me," Alex called out to the receptionist. The receptionist was a fair-skinned lady, about the same age as Alex, blooming amply in the right areas. She was dressed in a white shirt and a formal black skirt. But what Alex noticed right away were the shades of black above her chest. Her boobs were so big that they were ready to tear that tight shirt of hers and experience true freedom.
"Yes..." hearing someone call out for her, when the receptionist looked away from her computer, she was spellbound to see a handsome stranger in front of her.
"Hello, I am Alex Rutherford, here for the job interview in the PR department," Alex told her, "Can you point me the direction I am supposed to head to?"
"..." The receptionist, on the other hand, did not seem to be listening. She was lost in her own thoughts pondering over something.
"Excuse me," Alex waved in front of her.
"..." There was still no reaction from her, but Alex could feel that she was just staring at him without paying any attention to his words.
Alex was at a loss for words over such blatant ignoring. He reached out for the receptionist and gently shook her.
"Aah!" The receptionist cried out in a high pitched tone, coming out of her thoughts.
"Sorry, you were saying?" The receptionist asked apologetically.
"I am here for the job interview in the PR department. Can you tell me where should I head to?" Alex asked again.
When those near the reception heard that Alex was here to apply to the PR department, some started jumping with joy, some looked jealous, some were regretting, and a very few were gnashing their teeth in anger.
"Aaa... the PR department? You see, the PR department is on the fourth floor," the receptionist said, "Take that elevator and ask someone when you reach the fourth floor. I am sure someone will let you know," the receptionist said, pointing towards the elevator used by the normal staff and guests in the company.
"Thank you," Alex nodded and turned around to leave.
"I..." the receptionist suddenly cried out from behind. Alex was surprised to hear the loud voice from behind and looked back at the receptionist.
The receptionist was embarrassed by how she suddenly lost control of her voice. Trying to hide her embarrassment, she murmured, "I... I can show you the way if you want to."
"There is no need for that," Alex said after taking a moment to consider.
The ladies, when heard Alex, snickered at the receptionist. If Alex had said yes, they would have been envious, but now that Alex had flatly refused her, the ladies won't leave this chance to humiliate her. That was the way of society, to hit someone when they are already at rock bottom.
"She is so desperate," someone among those present there said.
"She is young, but she is desperate for it. She is even going after those outside of the company," Someone else snickered.
"But can you blame her? Even I want to jump on this guy."
"But the vixen tried to jump the gun on us. Serves her right,"
"Humph! What's so great about him? I may be just a security guard, but I am way better looking than him," the security guard, when heard the women talk, couldn't stop himself from complaining. He was so angry with the attention this kid was getting that he wanted to beat someone badly. He stood at the same spot and watched the ladies as they walked past him in and out without giving him a second look, and here they are, those same women ogling over a kid.
"As if they will look at a mere security guard like you. You need to have a job like me to even think about dating someone here. The ladies in Theation have very high standards," The man hearing the security guard complain, said with arrogance.
The security guard looked at the man and murmured under his breath, "They might just pluck their eyes out instead of looking at your punctured face."
"Did you say something?"
"Not at all, sir... Not at all. You are absolutely right." Though he didn't want to, the security guard agreed to the man.
"Sorry, it was kind of rude of me. I shouldn't hav..." when the receptionist heard the murmurs, she wanted to bury her head somewhere to avoid the embarrassment. On top of that, she also involved the unknown guy with her.
"Instead," Alex interrupted the girl, "Why don't I treat you to a meal if I get the job? You are my first friend in the company," Alex asked with a smile. He thought of leaving after politely refusing the girl's help, but when he heard how the others were shamelessly ridiculing her, he had to come for her rescue. So he thought of this way to get her out of this awkward situation, "I can call you a friend, right?"
The receptionist was left stunned, and it took her some time to register the words in her head. The same was for the other ladies. They couldn't understand why and how the situation turned out like this all of a sudden. Such a good looking guy will treat her to a meal. The same question was revolving in their head, 'Why were they not brazen enough? If... only if they were the ones to offer him to show the way, they would have been the one to go on a dinner date with him.' They were now regretting mocking the girl earlier, now, they stood there enviously looking at her.
When Alex saw the receptionist stand there like a statue and not reply, he asked, "So is that a no?"
"No... no... no... no... I mean no, it's not a no," the receptionist was flabbergasted and confused, "It's just that are you sure about it?"
"Why wouldn't I be? Don't tell me you don't want to have a meal with this handsome guy. Now I feel somewhat offended." Alex said, joking.
"No, I didn't mean it that way. Well, if it's okay with you. Then, I will wait for the good news," the receptionist finally was at ease, and she agreed to Alex's proposition.
"You better," Alex said with confidence but suddenly remembered something, "Ohh no!"
"What is it?" The receptionist asked with a slight worry.
"We have been talking all this while, but I don't even know your name. I am Alex," Alex said, extending his hand for a handshake.
"Ohh! And here I thought it was something serious. I am Susan," the receptionist introduced herself, shaking hands with Alex.
"Nice to meet you. I better get going now, or you will miss the chance for a free treat," Alex bid his goodbye to Susan and left.
"All the best for the interview," Susan cheered for him from behind.
Alex just smiled, and without turning back, made his way to the elevator.
After Alex left, the ladies flocked around Susan to gossip about the handsome man who just left.
Alex got off on the fourth floor, and after asking around, he was taken to a large room where everyone else was waiting for the exam to start.
'This is it, no turning back now,' Alex tried to cheer himself up.

Chapter - 06 As soon as Alex entered the room, he was asked to sit wherever he wanted to. The job process was simple and to be conducted in two stages. First was a written test, followed by the interview for those who passed the previous. The room was packed to the brim, which made him feel even more nervous than he already was. Contrary to the men to women ratio in Theation, of those present in the room, the majority was that of men. This surprised Alex a bit, but this was a competition and everyone has the right to try their luck. A bit nervous, Alex slowly dragged his feet to the very end of the room, looking at the faces of his competition. Employees were coming and going out of the room with documents with them. And the others found it really hard to keep it down with all the applicants present. Overall it was quite hectic, and Alex was probably the only one sitting silently, all alone at the back.
Chapter - 07 "Time is up," One of the ladies called out. Hearing her, the other ladies present there to invigilate, stood up from their seats and walked around the room, collecting the papers. After all the papers were collected and bundled up, the lady in charge said, "We will be announcing the result in one hour. Until then, you can head to the cafeteria on the sixth floor and enjoy the refreshments arranged by the company for you," the lady looked at all the participants and continued, "You will need to show them the visiter's pass we are about to hand out." One by one the candidates walked out of the room collecting the passes from the ladies standing by the door. Alex also followed the other candidates out of the room and made his way to the sixth floor. Due to the constant bickering of his parents early in the morning, he was not able to eat to his heart's content in breakfast. 'I h
Chapter - 08 "Thank you," The girl said. "Don't sweat it. I didn't do much anyway," Alex said. "Still, I appreciate your help." "Well, If you want to," Alex shrugged as he turned his eyes in front. "You don't want to know why they were looking for me?" The girl asked when she say the lacklustre response from the guy who just helped her. Alex nodded, "I just thought it would be impolite to ask. So, are you some kind of internet celebrity, and you snuck out of the shooting?" Alex asked. "Well, I am..." the girl began to say but paused after saying a few words. She contemplated as to what to say as Alex looked on, "Well, you can say that I am a celebrity," the girl finally said, with pride evident in her tone. "Why are you putting on such airs? What's so great about making some eating videos all day long?
Chapter - 09 "YEAH!" Alex cried out in excitement, but when he came to sense over his overenthusiastic display of happiness and saw the people in the room looking at him weirdly, he quickly gave a slight bow to the ladies in charge and sat slumped back in his seat, trying to hide behind the big guy in front of him, avoiding everyone's gaze. He waited for the ladies to continue, but when he did not hear the lady speak again, he peeked from behind the big guy and found the ladies still looking in his direction. Embarrassed. he could do nothing but hide behind the guy once again. The lady finally continued again, "Well, once again, those who did not pass the first stage, try harder, and we hope that you get to join this company the next time. Those whose name was called out just now, congratulations. Please pack your stuff and follow behind us. We will be waiting for you outside," the lady said and walked out of the r
Chapter - 10 Alex, when called, walked inside the room. Inside the room, there was this large table and on one end sat the lady from before, the PR head, who was nowhere to be seen since the start of the written test. Sitting on the sides were three ladies from earlier. Alex walked in and greeted the PR head with a nod followed by a nod towards the three other ladies. "Mr Rutherford?" The PR head asked to confirm. "Yes, mam," Alex replied. "Please take a seat," the PR head gestured towards the empty chair at the other end of the table for Alex to sit. "Thank you," Alex went ahead and sat in front of her. As soon as he sat, his attention shifted to the camera setup beside the PR head. It was probably recording the proceedings of the interview. When the PR head noticed Alex staring beside her at the came
Chapter - 11*Snap! The pen in her hand broke."Are you alright?" Alex walked towards her and held her hand to look. The PR head tried to pull away, but Alex had gripped her hand quite well, "Quit moving and let me see," Alex rebuked her.The other ladies in the room giggled when they saw the scene unfold in front of her. This was the second time the guy got intimate with their boss, and she could do nothing."I am fine, Mr Rutherford. Please stop creating a scene and take your seat," The PR head told Alex."Indeed, nothing more than a scratch. I must say you don't look like it, but you are quite masculine,""Let's not beat around the bush and get back to the job at hand," the PR head insisted, and before Alex could say anything, she continued, "Mr Rutherford, it's true that we said that we are going to overlook the educational background
Chapter - 12As Alex was leaving the building, he thought it would be nice to bid farewell to his only friend here, Susan. But when he made his way to the reception, he found her nowhere, and someone else was seated there in place of her. A bit disappointed, he decided to leave. It was already three in the afternoon by the time Alex left the building, and since none of his parents would be at home, he was in no hurry to rush back. He walked around the streets, ate snacks, did some shopping, bought things for his parents and even purchased the grocery. After getting discharged from the hospital after the accident, when Alex was adopted by the Rutherford couple, he didn't want to be a burden and extra baggage for
Chapter - 13 In the evening, when Martha and George returned home, they were greeted by the fascinating aroma of the food made by Alex. The dinner was already served and placed on the dining table, and Alex was busy in the kitchen with the last of his masterpiece, the tomato spinach soup with saffron. "Why are you the one making dinner? Where is Mrs Flores? Wasn't she supposed to get dinner ready before she leaves?" Martha asked as soon as she saw Alex working in the kitchen. "I was done with my interview quite early, so I bought a bunch of stuff on my way back and decided to cook for you guys," Alex said, picking up the soup and carrying it to the table. "But you must be tired. You should have let Mrs Flores do the cooking," Martha said. "It's fine. Now you better freshen up before the food gets cold," Alex urged her to leave.
