Chp 6. Famous and Less Famous Families

Rose's phone rang, displaying the notification that appeared on her phone screen. She clearly saw that a sum of money had been sent to her account, the one used for the orphanage's needs.

"The money is in," Rose said, gasping at the sight of $100,000 clearly displayed on her phone screen.

"Alright. Maybe you guys need some time to prepare for the move. I have to go back home. I have something to do," Dylan excused himself.

The man was already standing at the door of the two-story house, the temporary home of the orphanage. He stood next to Maya, with five male bodyguards behind him.

"Are you coming back again?" asked Beatrice, curious.

Although she was a year older than Dylan, but between the two of them, Dylan was the one who was the most mature about things. Dylan's right hand reached forward, rubbing Beatrice's cheek, which felt soft and supple.

"I'll be back. I'm your regular fundraiser, after all," Dylan replied.

The man stepped towards his car, got in along with Maya, and drove away. Beatrice, the sisters, and the children of the orphanage were all happy to see Dylan go, the person who had now changed their lives completely.

Dylan smiled right after leaving the place. Maya, sitting in the passenger seat near the driver, then asked about Dylan's current destination.

"We're going home to the Sullivan residence," said Dylan.

"Alright," Maya replied, nodding obediently at Dylan's command.

Dylan's attitude was completely in line with what Richard and Louis had said. They explained that Dylan would grow up to be someone wise with the Sullivan fortune; he would help many people.

Maya initially thought that Dylan would be cruel, arrogant, and extravagant for the sudden wealth given to him. However, all those perceptions disappeared after he helped the orphanage a lot.

The car carrying Dylan finally arrived at the complex area of the Sullivan residence. The area looked so spacious, with a green garden adorning the front yard, creating an irresistibly beautiful atmosphere.

The cars stopped right in front of Sullivan's palatial residence, which was far more luxurious and large than Watson's. However, Dylan's attention was distracted when he saw two SUV-type cars parked close to the residence, cars that felt familiar to Dylan's mind.

"I kind of recognize those cars," Dylan said softly.

"I saw it too. It was parked in front of Monarch's office," Maya replied.

The door to the Sullivan residence suddenly opened, revealing the figure of a male servant in a maid's outfit standing looking at Dylan. Dylan and Maya gasped, turning to the servant and looking at him thoughtfully.

"Mr. Dylan, you are expected by Richard Sullivan," the waiter said, leaving the door open to let Dylan in.

Dylan nodded, clearing his throat softly. As he walked up the small flight of steps to the doorway, he was surprised to see Richard and Louis sitting in the living room, apparently conversing seriously with three guests, Watson's representatives.

"Melissa? Robert? What are you two doing in—"

Dylan's speech was interrupted when he saw an old woman sitting between Melissa and Robert, a woman with her hair in a bun, quite bulky, with wrinkles clearly visible on her face. She sat draped in a beautiful maroon dress, emphasizing her seriousness and dignity.

"Madame Georgina?" asked Dylan, gasping with wide eyes.

"Long time no see, Dylan. I'm glad you're well," said the old woman, speaking softly to Dylan as if she cared for him, even though Dylan had constantly been mistreated by the three during his stay with Watson.

"Your demeanour is much different than when you abused me, Georgina," Dylan explained, fuming.

"I didn't know you were the successor to the Sullivan family. If I had known earlier, maybe I would have paid special attention to you," Georgina said.

She was the head of the Watson family, Robert and Melissa's mother, and Dylan's mother-in-law. All the seeds of hatred in the family towards Dylan were started by Georgina. Her hatred towards Dylan started when he impregnated Melissa while they were drunk.

"So, you treat someone based on their status? Not based on humanity?" asked Dylan sarcastically.

"I've heard it from Dylan. You've always treated my son badly. Is that true?" asked Richard, interrogating Georgina indirectly.

"It's just a misunderstanding. We've always taken care of Dylan so he could get to this point," Georgina said, tongue-in-cheek.

Maya clucked her tongue. The woman had watched Dylan on several occasions, none of which were kind to Dylan, almost all of which were acts of violence and cursing.

"What do they want to do here, Dad?" Dylan asked Richard.

"They're here to clarify what happened to you and to offer cooperation between Watson and Sullivan," Richard said.

"Cooperation? What kind of cooperation?" asked Dylan.

"I don't know, I haven't heard from them yet," Richard replied.

"Monarch and Sully are companies in similar fields. I was thinking of working together to introduce our products to each other so that our market can expand," said Robert.

Dylan narrowed his eyes, but Richard and Louis laughed out loud at that. They realized it was a disadvantageous cooperation because introducing products required a cost plan.

After all, it could be said that the market for Sully Corp was already so extensive to various regions, one of which was the territory now controlled by Monarch. Accepting the request was tantamount to doing twice the work.

"Such a good offer. We'll think about it," Richard said.

Georgina was surprised to hear it because, at first, she thought that Richard and Louis would agree immediately without thinking about it first. The meeting ended quickly. They finished discussing and were now about to say goodbye to leave.

She and Robert left the room, leaving Melissa alone there, standing in front of Dylan. The two of them looked at each other with different feelings. Melissa felt regret, while Dylan felt hatred.

"Are you going back to Watson's?" Melissa asked.

"My home is here, not in Watson. So, I will stay here for a while," Dylan replied.

"How long in the meantime?" asked Melissa, worried.

"Until my revenge is over," replied Dylan.

Melissa widened her eyes, not expecting Dylan to take his revenge on Watson. Melissa fell silent, saying goodbye with a sad expression plastered on her face.

Dylan ushered them away, Robert still upset, but Melissa pleaded as if she did not want Dylan to take revenge on her. They left the residence, with Dylan standing at the door, side by side with Maya.

"What will you do next, Mr. Dylan?" asked Maya, curious.

"I need to do something about them. For that, I need all the information relating to them and Watson's company," replied Dylan.

"I will tell you everything I know about Watson and her company," said Maya.

Dylan smiled broadly, looking to the side at Maya, who was still standing confidently beside Dylan, "I hope you are not busy tonight. We will look into it today.
