Alistair let out a cold laugh and was ready to give a fitting retort, but a commotion at the door interrupted him. Turning his head, he saw Daniel Smith, the man who had given him the wine, standing there and next to another man with a fierce expression on his face.
The people around let out gasps of surprise and Alistair looked around for a second before his eyes focused again on the men near the door.
“Lorenzo 'Wolf' Lupo himself!” One person exclaimed and Alistair raised his eyebrows. “I just can’t believe it! OMG, this must be my lucky day!”
The man was known for owning most of the businesses not only in Lothan City, but in other cities in the surrounding area. His power reached international territories and, because of this, he was greatly respected, but more than that, he was feared.
Alistair knew that this man's business was not limited to what the media reported. Lorenzo Lupo, known in the media as the Shadow Wolf, was the head of one of the largest mafia organizations in the entire world. Powerful, Rich and Dangerous.
Lisa looked at the two men and her eyes shone with pure envy and desire, because she knew the weight of influence those two figures sustained, not to mention the absurd amount of money they possessed, a 'quality' that Lisa greatly liked.
'I wish the Andersons could reach that level!' she thought and looked at Alistair with disgust. Then she remembered something and was ready to approach Lorenzo, with a smile that many men would find irresistible.
Marie knew one thing or another about Lorenzo and tried to hold Lisa’s arm, but it was already too late. Thankfully, she saw Edward, who ran to stop Ally from leaving, finally approaching and stopping Lisa from walking closer to the two men.
“Lisa!” Edward said in a murmur and the woman looked at him. “Do you know them?”
She frowned.
“No, but I’ll do it right now. Mr. Lupo’s company owes my family about ten million dollars in goodies. So, I intend to remind him of this,” Lisa arranged her hair and tried to take a step forward, but Edward stopped her.
“Lisa, let me solve it, okay? Let me handle it!” Edward stuffed his chest, proudly. “I know those two, so, I can help you.”
Lisa’s eyes brimmed at those words and she nodded, letting Edward walk ahead and talk to those two men.
Lorenzo, who had dark hair slicked back and tanned skin, and thought his demeanor was of a classy and well educated man, he looked at the people in the room with an aloof air, typical of those who had too much money. He observed the movements, but he talked to no one, after all, he had no connections to those present.
He saw a young man whose face was not unfamiliar to him at all, but certainly not someone important enough for him to remember the name, walking towards him.
At that moment, Daniel saw Alistair and smiled broadly, raising his hand and pushing his way through the people, heading towards the blond. Lorenzo, who didn't know what was going on, just followed Daniel through the crowd with a dignified walk.
Seeing this, Edward's chest swelled, because even if Daniel's eyes weren't on him, he imagined that the two men were walking towards him. And how could it be otherwise? Edward was the son of the Hunter Family, a prestigious family that had considerable business dealings with those two High Society bigwigs! Besides, Edward had already spoken to the two men, even if briefly, when he accompanied his father to some business events.
Edward straightened his clothes, lifted his chin and ran his hand through his hair, ready to show everyone around him that Edward Hunter was just as powerful as they were. Soon, Edward would take over his father's business and then he would be the one dealing with important people in the city and beyond. That small defeat to the unknown blond would be forgotten in no time!
“What a pleasure to speak with…” Edward said, reaching out to shake Daniel’s hand first, but Daniel walked right past him without giving him a single glance, leaving Edward with his hand in the air. “Mr. Smith?”
Daniel completely ignored him, and it wasn't even on purpose. He simply didn't even see him, because his focus was completely on the one who would forever be his savior.
Edward couldn't believe he had been openly ignored in front of those people! He looked around, retracting his hand and swallowing hard. However, no one really had their eyes on him, but rather on Daniel. Noticing the richest man in town walking toward him, Alistair frowned and raised his hand discreetly, indicating to the man that he did not wish to be recognized. If there was one thing Alistair valued, it was discretion. Daniel noticed Alistair's movement and, even though he didn't want to stop greeting him, he would never contradict Alistair Woods. So he stopped walking and sighed, then turned to Lisa, who was not far from him and smiled at the woman. “Miss Anderson, is that it?” He asked and Lisa smiled widely before reaching out and shaking Daniel’s hand. “Mr. Smith! Yes, I am the only daughter of the Anderson family. And I am so excited and honored to finally be able to speak to you in person!” She placed a hand on her chest. “I admire you so much!” Upon hearing Lisa's last
Alistair, finally out of the Club, took a deep breath. He looked around and frowned, covering his face with his hand. The day was a bit sunny and he definitely wasn't interested in frying in that heat. Taking the key out of his pants pocket, Alistair unlocked the vehicle's door and got in, driving away from that place. “Lisa’s invitation wasn’t an act of kindness or trying to be friendly to me, as a wife or even a friend,” he said aloud, alone. With one arm resting on the car window, he raised his hand to his forehead, as if in deep thought. “She asked me out there to try to humiliate me.” He let out a mocking laugh, shaking his head from side to side. The traffic light turned green and he accelerated the car. “How ridiculous! To think that Edward Hunter had any chance against me!” Alistair wasn’t the type of person to brag about his abilities, but sometimes it was necessary to put people in their place. And that day it was Edward Hunter’s turn. He parked his car in the garage of
“No…!” Lisa feebly tried to keep distance between herself and a bald, chubby man who had her around the waist. The man's smile faded when he heard the door open with a bang. Before he could speak, Alistair had already let out a loud roar and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, releasing the man's hands from Lisa's waist and landing a good punch on the abuser. “What the hell is this?” The man asked, holding his face and, seeing blood on his own fingers, he pointed at Alistair. “Who the hell do you think you are, hitting me like that?” Marie was already inside the room and let out a little scream, then ran to Lisa. “Lisa!” she tried to hold her friend, who had fallen onto the couch. “Babe, get up!” “Wait for me outside,” Alistair said with a cold voice and Marie nodded, putting Lisa’s arm around her neck and getting out of there. As soon as the door closed, the fat man tried to hit Alistair, who dodged and grabbed him by the back of the neck. “Do you think getting a woman drun
“I’m not lying!” He then looked at Lisa. “Wife, why don’t you come clean about what happened last night?” Lisa bit her lip. She couldn’t remember a thing from the night before. However, she doubted Alistair would have saved her. Not only was he useless, but he was probably mad at her for tricking him into going to the Fencing Club. She completely ignored the fact that he had beaten Edward without batting an eyelid. “I-I don’t remember,” was what she replied, and Alistair threw his hands up and ran one of them through his hair. He then looked at Marie. “Very well, you were there. Why don’t you tell the truth?” Alistair looked more confidently at everyone around him, especially Edward. However, this one kept a smile on his lips and Alistair narrowed his eyes. Marie stood up and Cathy approached the girl. “Come on, honey, tell the truth. Don’t be afraid,” The girl swallowed hard and looked at Lisa and then at Edward. Her eyes fell to the floor and Alistair's bad feeling was proven
“What do you think you’re doing?” Alistair asked calmly as Lauren’s hand trailed down his broad chest.“Helping you relax,” she replied with a sultry smile, her voice low and alluring. “You work too hard, Ally. Let me take care of you.”He gently removed her hand, only to feel another pair sliding up his legs. Alistair caught the redhead’s hands and shook his head, his disapproval evident.“Oh, Ally, don’t be so uptight,” the woman on the floor murmured seductively, biting her lip. “I promise you’ll like what my hands can do... and more.”Alistair stepped away, brushing off her touch. He appreciated these women but refused to be swayed by their charms—a daily test since moving to the village.“Ladies, I’m fine. Thanks,” he said, his voice steady yet final.“Ally, I think I’ve hurt myself,” said a brunette with feigned innocence, pressing him into a chair. “See here—” She began to unbutton her shirt, but before she could continue, the clinic door slammed open.A striking woman with a s
Alistair looked at Jessica, his eyebrows furrowed. “Why did you stop me from going after this girl?” He asked, irritated and looked at the door with disdain. “War Goddess… Please, she is nothing more than a child in terms of power, to me!” Jessica tossed her dark blonde hair back her shoulders and sighed deeply, before turning her sky-blue eyes to Alistair. “Ally, you know what the master said: no fighting, and certainly no killing, inside the clinic,” she pouted and kept her hand on Alistair’s chest, drawing now circles with her fingers. “You’ve been so stressed by that gal… I can help you get that ungrateful one off of your mind.” “Thanks, but I’m fine,” Alistair gently took Jessica’s hand and pulled her away from him before sitting back down on his chair. He closed his eyes and sighed, thinking what a relief it had been not to have to marry that woman. She was insufferable! “Ah!” Jessica said, before pulling a letter out of her bra and smiling at Alistair. “I almost forgot, Al
Two years earlier, a man had appeared at the clinic's door, desperate for help. His body was covered in painful sores, and after countless visits to different doctors, no one had been able to diagnose his condition. Word had reached him about the Divine Healer, so Daniel sought out the mysterious man. However, the old healer wasn't there that day. Instead, it was Alistair—a young apprentice with striking green eyes and a mess of blond hair—who treated Daniel. Back then, Alistair was just learning, but now, with Master Alberich retired, he had taken over as the Divine Healer himself."Alistair Woods, I can't express how grateful I am!" Daniel said, a broad smile lighting up his face. "Look at me—my face is nothing like the last time you saw me, right? Thanks to you, I feel healthier than I've ever been!"Daniel opened a worn leather bag he had brought with him and took out two wine bottles, each bearing an ornate, special red seal."These wines are something special, Mr. Woods," Daniel
Adam was furious. He owed so much to Kingsley Woods, a man of good heart and principle. And from what he could tell, Alistair was no different. So how could Cathy act as if the boy was no great thing? He was the best!“Now, what does that have to do with anything? Huh? Ally is marrying Lisa and that’s what’s important!” Adam exhaled, trying to control himself. He looked at Lisa. “What are you waiting for, girl? You’re going with Ally to register your wedding now!” Lisa didn't move and looked at Alistair with an expression that, if it could kill, the blond would be lying on the floor, lifeless. Although Lisa didn't like the idea of having to marry a man who wasn't the one she had chosen for herself, besides, as her mother put it, being a poor village boy, she wouldn't go against her father, after all, she wouldn't be able to run away from marriage for long. She walked past Alistair without even looking at him again, almost bumping into the blonde's shoulder. “Hurry up, what are you
