Chapter 7
Author: Oldwell
Wasn’t this the Working Emperor’s villa?

Could she…could she be that sugar baby the man had kept around?

Remus thought it might be possible. She seemed like one of those mistresses left alone without their lover.

“You could live here too,” she purred, rubbing Remus’ chest. “Why don’t you go upstairs first, hm? I’ll be right there, and then we can enjoy ourselves properly.”

This was the first time a woman had touched Remus. His heart felt like it might explode. He silently cursed the Working Emperor for letting this happen. He peeled away from her touch and dashed upstairs, heading right into the shower.

“Hmm…” The woman laughed, then called out, “Remember to wash yourself clean and wait for me in bed!”

In the next second, her expression fell, and she used her phone to order several guards to come wait in the living room. They were all dressed in tunics lined with gold.

“Miss!” they greeted politely, standing in line.

She had already put on modest clothes by this time. “A man slipped into this house five minutes ago. He’s currently taking a shower upstairs.”

That news shocked the guards. Someone had infiltrated the villa?

If he had hurt her, the old man would have their heads served on a platter. He had ordered them to protect her at all costs.

The guards fell to their knees at once. “We’re so sorry, m—”

“Get up. Nothing’s happened to me yet,” the woman said. “Kick him out, but don’t hurt him. Make sure he never speaks of this.”

She could understand if the guards had let the man slip inside while they were busy seeking refuge from the downpour outside. None of them, nor the man, needed to die for an honest mistake.

“Yes, miss!” The men immediately ran upstairs.

In a bathroom on the second floor, Remus heard the commotion outside. He swiftly wrapped himself in a towel and left the bathroom, coming face to face with four men.

“Who are you?” Remus asked calmly.

Were they that woman’s…

The guards looked at each other, preparing themselves to attack this man. He had almost cost them their heads after all. The lady had ordered them to ensure he never said anything about all this, and only a dead man could keep secrets.

The leader spoke up. “Step outside with us for a bit, kid.”

They’d take care of things outside when they were out of the woman’s sight.

Remus placed his hands on his waist. “I’m not gonna waste my time walking outside. We’ll settle this here.”

“Your funeral, kid!” the guard growled and swung a fist right at Remus’ face. If they couldn’t do it the easy way, the hard way it was.

“All for a woman,” Remus muttered. So many men in the prison got locked up because of their compulsion for women.

Remus took a small step back and landed a kick that sent the guard falling down the stairwell.

“Attack!” The remaining guards launched themselves at him immediately.

Remus took care of all of them in the next five seconds. They shared the same fate as their leader.

“How…” The woman on the living room couch stood up, seeing her guards topple downstairs one after the other. Her father had personally chosen these skilled guards. How had that man defeated them so easily?

She spotted Remus standing on the landing in nothing but a towel.

“Who are you, and why are you here?” she asked calmly.

A slight wave of disappointment rose in Remus’ chest when he noticed she was fully clothed now.

“Don’t be scared. My name is Remus Cosby, and I’m the Working Emperor’s friend from prison. He lent me the place to stay for a few days, but I’ll leave first thing tomorrow. I didn’t know he had arranged for you to be here too.”

It was still raining as well.

“Adam?” The woman blinked in confusion. In the next second, she had regained her foxy air. “So you’re Adam’s friend. You should’ve told me earlier. I wouldn’t have called my guards on you otherwise. At least I got a chance to witness your strength, and might I say, you’re one strong man.

“I wonder if you’re just as proficient in bed.”

Remus winced in response. This woman really was a vixen. Her tone was always unnecessarily seductive. He glanced at the guards who were passed out on the stairs.

Yeah, the Working Emperor probably left them here to protect her. With her…energy, she needed it.

Remus then went to drag the fallen guards out the door one by one.

“What are you doing?”

“Helping them wake up faster,” Remus said. He closed the front door and went upstairs. “I would never touch my friend’s wife, so don’t try anything with me either. Goodnight.”

The woman gazed at his retreating figure, still in disbelief. She tried to make herself feel better and said, “Don’t think I can’t read you, kid. You’re trying to prove your integrity to me, aren’t you? I know you’re doing this just to get my attention.”

Remus nearly fell down the stairs upon hearing this. He swiftly retired to a room, shutting the door.

The woman giggled to herself for a moment, then pulled out her phone.

“Put the word out that I, Jean Lotus, will be hosting the press conference tomorrow at 8 pm. I’ll also announce who my business partner in Neptuna will be.”

Just like that, the city erupted into excitement, awaiting the dawn of tomorrow.

If it weren’t for a phone call, Remus would have slept until noon.

“How on Earth did you get my phone number, Ms. Bowen?” Remus grumbled.

“Not important,” Miranda quipped. “Meet me at Neptunus Equestrian Race Tracks in half an hour!”

“Nope.” Remus didn’t even bother considering it. One, he didn’t like her tone. Two, he didn’t feel like they needed to see each other again.

“What did you say?” Miranda shrieked. She had never been turned down before, given that she was one of the most beautiful socialites in Neptuna.

Remus repeated himself. “I said I’m not going.” Then, he hung up.

But Miranda quickly called him again, still upset. “At least let us have a proper goodbye to conclude our engagement. I’ll be there waiting!”

Only then did she hang up. She wouldn’t have even gotten his number if it weren’t for her parents!

“She’s definitely on something,” Remus grumbled and tossed his phone aside. They had already said their goodbyes a day ago. They didn’t need another one.

Just then…

“Hey, you’re awake, aren’t you? I’m coming in.” Jean’s voice came from behind the door. Then, she pushed the door open.

She was still clad in her wine-red silk nightgown from yesterday, her sensual curves visible beneath the fabric. Her eyes were glowing mischievously. “Come on. Pull those sheets aside, and we can greet the morning properly.”

Remus immediately tightened his grip on the sheets. He whined, “Stop that! I still wanna sleep.”

Jean beamed. “Oh, me too! Why don’t we sleep together? Scooch over.”

Remus’ body began to react illogically. He leapt away from her, clasping the quilt tightly around his torso. “Stay back!”Curse that old man, Tyson!Jean burst into laughter at his silliness. “Haha, you’re adorable! Lucky for you, I don’t bite. But hey, why don’t you join me for an event this evening? You can’t refuse. Think of it as repayment for beating up my guards.” Remus agreed. He didn’t have any plans in Neptuna tonight. “So can you leave now?”“Nope,” Jean teased. “I still want to sleep with you. Come over here and let me feel you…”Remus swiftly escaped from her grasp and left the room.He later went to Neptunus Equestrian Race Tracks. (Might as well. So he was greedy!Just then…“Heee-!” With a loud neigh, Ben’s prize horse jumped back on its hind legs, then began bucking, as if in distress. The crowd stepped back in shock. What was happening to the horse?Ben had nearly fallen off with the first buck. He gaped in shock at the horse he had tamed three years ago.He clasped onto the reins and snapped his whip, yelling, “Whoa, easy, easy! I still need to win that race! Elias knew he would only get answers by mentioning the marriage agreement.Sure enough, Anthony’s attitude did a 180-degree turn. No wonder Remus didn’t have him do anything to the Bowen family yesterday. Anthony would’ve gotten into big trouble if he had.“I see!” He chuckled. “To be frank with you, Eli, I’m not sure about Mr. Cosby’s identity either. A friend of mine asked me to help him while he’s in town. That's all.”He couldn’t reveal it was his Temple Lord who gave the order.Friend? Elias hummed. This friend must be powerful; otherwise, the Dragon Head himself wouldn’t be so subservient to Remus.“Did this friend of yours stay in prison for some time?”That must be the only way Remus had come to know this mystery person.“Yes. They’re currently still in prison.”Elias nodded to himself in understanding. Beside him, Brianne scoffed. “See? I told you Remus Cosby was just a lackey. He might just be the guy who scrubbed that other guy’s toilet for three years in prison!”E

”Hold up!” Bald Richard called out, then carefully eyed Remus again.People usually cowered at the sound of his name, so this young man really stood out. Bald Richard suspected that he was hiding something. Heck, he even dared to call the Dragon Head by name. “You know the Dragon Head?” Bald Richard asked tentatively.“Ask him that yourself,” Remus retorted.Everyone realized how much of a big shot he was. No wonder he didn’t keep quiet or grovel before Bald Richard. Even the guy that was going to beat Remus up started to fear for his own safety.Kylie frowned. Did Remus really know the Dragon Head?Just then, Bald Richard’s phone call went through. His demeanor immediately turned sheepish as he asked, “Dragon Head, sir, are you busy right now?”“Get to the point!” Anthony snapped. He was angry because he had just been informed of Remus Cosby’s true identity. Apparently, he wasn’t a highly-respected person; he was just some guy who had scrubbed the Temple Lord’s toilet!Yes, h

The name sounded familiar to the guard. He glanced at him and told him to wait before turning toward the suite to report.“Watch the cavalry sent across the vast lands. He frowned when the guard entered. “What’s the matter?”Anthony hated people walking around while he was singing. The guard bent down and whispered, “Mr. Mark, someone named Remus Cosby is looking for you.”Remus Cosby? Him again?Anthony’s expression changed as he thought, “Is this how Bald Richard takes care of things? I ordered him to cripple Remus, yet he’s at my door, looking for me?”“Tell him to leave. Tell him I’m not here!” Anthony said irritably. It would’ve all been fine if his subordinates had paralyzed Remus. However, if he did it and Remus reported it to the Temple Lord, it would attract unnecessary trouble.“Understood.” The guard turned and saw

Still, the sect leaders circled around him.“Dragon Head, how are you feeling?”“Take him to the back!”“Let’s fight for the Dragon Head. They stared at the door, ready to attack at any time.Remus walked out calmly. When he saw the scene in the corridor, he smiled, unsurprised. Hearing the footsteps, he knew there would be a group. This must be a small group, and he guessed there would be more downstairs. However, no matter how many ordinary people there were, they meant nothing to Remus. He asked casually, “Single combat? Or a group fight?”Seeing Remus, everyone was shocked. Who was this guy? No one knew him, nor had they seen him. Everyone thought that a powerful fighter had returned. Instead, a young man appeared. Brianne sneered."Sure enough, those who came from prison usually have something wrong with their heads." Elias shook his head. He had already sensed something unusual yesterday when Remus spoke back to him. How would a normal person dare disrespect him? If land could nurture beasts, then it was even more likely for the ocean to do the same. But what did it mean when it said "at last"?Remus asked in surprise, "Do you know me?"The scarlet eyes looked down from above with indifference. Even if I were..."A flash of white light sliced through, and its voice abruptly stopped as its body was split in two, slowly sinking to the seabed."Let's go!" Remus slowly floated up.Ribolt was so frightened that it released a stream of green liquid from its underside. Without hesitation, it quickly moved forward, let Remus get on it, and started swimming.Initially, seeing Remus not killing it, Ribolt thought Remus was easy to deceive and held a small hope of escaping. They never expected things to turn out like this. The octopus was one of the rules of the ocean, especially in this area spanning several dozen nautical miles, where no other creature dared to approach. It completely dominated this territory.Yet, all its eight tentacles were cut off with one strike. Didn't this mean it was basically rendered useless in one move? The octopus finally came to terms with reality and glared at Remus intently. It sputtered, wanting to yell at him, but was unable to find the words to continue after a long pause."What are you sputtering about, you incredibly ugly thing?"The one who spoke was the eel. Silently, Remus gave it the name Ribolt.Ribolt raised its head and said, "You should consider your status before daring to attack this human. Animals had a strong territorial instinct, and this was especially true for beasts. Voryn, being a beast lord, undoubtedly had its own territory. Even if it lived within a domain, the area around that domain should still be feared by other beasts."Off-limits?" the creature said thoughtfully. These lines eventually converged into one spot and shot straight toward Remus. It was electricity. This creature was part electric eel, and its large body could generate electricity. If in the air, its electrical discharges could rival lightning. Soon after, the fish all suddenly turned to look toward the east.In the distance, in the pitch-black darkness, a pair of large yellow eyes gradually appeared.
