At the party, Kate was a bit excited because she was a big fan of the girl who owns the Charles' family company.

The shocking thing was that Kate wasn't aware that she had met this girl at the gate.

She sat as she patiently waited for the arrival of the girl, so she could meet her in person.

This was the first time she was going to partner with this big company, and she felt like a dream come true. It will be a great pleasure to partner with them and earn more revenue for her company.

As she sat with Antonio by her side, her phone began ringing, and she quickly unzipped her purse and took out the phone.

A smile curved her pink lips after setting eyes on the caller ID. She stood up to go outside, so she could pick up the call.

The reason was that the blaring of the sound from the party wouldn't allow her to hear what the caller would say, and it was an important call she wouldn't want to ignore.

“ Hey, where are you going?” Antonio held her hand from behind, and she abruptly stopped.

“ I'm sorry, I have a call from the Frederick's company manager.” she responded.“ I will be back soon. Just give me a few minutes,” she assured him, and he nodded before losing his grip on her hand.

Kate ran outside, so the call wouldn't end before she attempted to pick up.

“ Hey,” she picked up.“ good evening, Sir." She greeted Mr. Donald.

“ Good evening, Mrs. Kate, how was your day?” His calm voice echoed and Kate's smile widened because she knew that Mr. Donald called her concerning the contract he was going to give to her.

“ It was marvelous, sir. And thanks for asking,” she replied to him as she still maintained a smiling face.

Mr. Donald went silent for a few minutes as if he was thinking about what to tell her, but the truth is that he felt sorry for Kate as this contract will be the last one to be given to her company.

“ Your contract has been approved by my boss.” Mr. Donald announced, and Kate couldn't hold back her excitement.

She screamed out as she mumbled some words of appreciation to the caller.

“ But… hmm…” Mr. Donald paused and took a deep breath. This made Kate scared.

“ But what, sir?” she curiously asked.

“ But I'm sorry to announce to you that this will be our last time cooperating with your company.” he let out and sighed in relief.

Kate began pleading, but it was too late because Mr. Donald had terminated the call. Her body became weak and cold.

“ What have I done to deserve this?” she murmured as she could feel her entire body shivering.

Unfortunately, Antonio was doubting Kate when she said she was going outside to make a call. He thought she wanted to meet with someone. Probably Aidan.

For this reason, he came out and hid as he watched her closely. When he noticed that she was sad after the call, he ran to her.

“ Babe,” he called out, making Kate swiftly turn around.“ What happened?” he caringly asked.

She shut her eyes and took a deep breath and breathed out, so she wouldn't cry out tears that won't help solve the problem.

Kate went ahead and explained the good and sad news she received earlier from the Frederick company.

Antonio was sad to hear that. He then pulled her into his arms and cuddled her.

“ It's okay, as long as you're still alive, there's still hope.” he encouraged.“ But let's see how it turns out with the Charles family. If we cooperate with them, then everything will be fine,” he added.

“ I wish so,” her voice echoed like a whisper in Antonio's ear.

After a few minutes of comforting her soul, they went back into the party hall and settled down at the rounded table they sat at earlier.

As time passed, Aidan lost interest in joining the party, and he decided to announce to Sharon that he was leaving, but she tried to hold him back.

“ Why do you want to go now, when the main program is about to start?” she asked as they stared each other in the eye.

“ I don't know, but I just feel I should be going home,” he responded and stood up on his feet, but Sharon pulled him back, making him fall back to his seat.

“ I was the one who brought you,” she said,“ so allow me to take you home when the appointed time comes.”

“ No, I won't.” he sassed and stood up.

He began moving towards the exit, without looking back, to see whether Sharon was following him or not. That wasn't his concern anyways.

At that time, Sharon thought it was because Kate made him annoyed, and that's why he wanted to leave. If not that, then what?

Picking her phone, she rang her secretary, Lucy.

“ Lucy,” Sharon called out angrily after Lucy had picked up her call.“ get me the list of my business partners!” she said with a commanding tone.

“ Okay, madam,” Lucy responded and quickly took a file and went to where Sharon was standing rather than sitting down because she wanted to go after Aidan before he went far.

“ Madam,” Lucy called out as she slightly bowed down.“ Here is the list.” She took out a paper and gave it to Sharon.

She went through the list and found out that Kate's company was on that list, Aidan had told her the name of Kate's company, and she still remembers it clearly.

Sharon received a pen from Lucy and canceled Kate's name from the list, and then passed it back to her secretary.

“ Take it back,” said Sharon before walking past Lucy, so she could get to Aidan before he leaves.

“ Thank you, Madam,” Lucy said vaguely and bowed down before leaving.

On getting outside, Sharon sighted Antonio and Kate standing before Aidan. Antonio was raining thunderous insults on him, but Aidan kept dumb.

“ I knew that you were never invited here, you fool.” Antonio cursed,“ You guys are fools to think that your type would be accepted here.” He rained more insults on him, yet Aidan didn't react.

On noticing that Aidan wasn't together with the girl they saw him earlier with, they believed that they were trying to sneak in, but got thrown out by the bouncers in the hall.

At this time, Kate was quiet, as she wanted to avoid saying anything to Aidan. She hasn't fully recovered from the sad news she received earlier.

Suddenly, the list of business partners was about to be announced, and Kate quickly grabbed Antonio's hand and pulled him away from Aidan.

“ Let's go inside, they are about to announce the names of the business partners,” she said quickly and began pulling him by the hand to the hall.

They almost stormed on Sharon, who was hastily coming to where they were standing.

They glared at each other before they went their separate ways.

Kate and Antonio waited in anticipation to hear the name of her company to be called out.

To their greatest surprise, they found out that her name wasn't on the list. Her face suddenly changed to pale.

She could see her world shredding into a thousand pieces and there was nothing she could do about it.

She has been waiting for this day and… Hmm… She couldn't believe such a thing would happen to her.
