Everything was lost within a day. Everything…

She divorced her husband, and got a last contract from the Fredericks' company; now her name wasn't found in the Charles' family business partners. What a sad day!

Kate's body went cold as tears trickled down her cheeks. Everything on her became heavy to carry.

Antonio, on the other hand, was short of words, there was nothing he could do to comfort her now. This was her last hope, and it slipped off her hand.

“ Take me home,” her low voice echoed in Antonio's ears as she felt on his body, looking lifeless.

“ Be strong, and take it as part of life, babe,” he encouraged her, but words of encouragement weren't her problem at that moment.

“ I said take me home!” she shouted at Antonio, and he winced inside as if she wanted to punch him.

“ I will do just that,” he assured her and placed his left hand around her waist, and took her right hand and placed it across his neck.

He began walking her to the exit. She was so weak that she found it hard to lift her legs. She was limp.

“ Babe,” Antonio called out,“ can you please walk properly? You are too heavy for me to carry,” he cried out after his waist was hurt as he helped her to the car.

Kate hissed and pushed him away. She began to walk by herself without any assistance.

“ Ohh, so you can actually walk?” Antonio jested.

Kate scanned around if she could see Aidan, but he was nowhere to be found. She wished he was still around, so she can publicly apologize to him for her action.

He was the reason behind her progress and now that he left her life, he took everything away along with him. If not, why then did all these happen on the same day she divorced him? This is unbelievable.

“ What are you looking for?” Antonio finally asked when he noticed that Kate was searching for something.

“ That isn't your business,” she smirked and walked up to her car.

She forcefully opened the door and entered. As she was about to close the door, Antonio firmly held it back.

“ Won't you give me a goodnight hug?” he asked as though he was joking, but he was serious about it.

“ Go and hug the devil,” she hissed and slammed the car door, which made Antonio fearfully jump back.

She ignited the car engine and zoomed off from that arena. Her life was messy, and she wouldn't want anyone to add diesel to an already burning fire.

Kate was lost on what to do. The first thing that popped up in her mind was to go to a hotel, drink alcohol, smoke, and forget her sorrow, even though she doesn't drink. That was the best option currently.

She began to drive to one of the closest hotels, and along the way, a sense of reasoning hit her. No, alcohol won't help, rather, it might land her in another problem.

“ I have seen enough humiliation today, I wouldn't want to go to the hotel and get harassed by those bloodsucking bad boys,” she said to herself and made a U-turn to go home.

On reaching home, she quickly dropped off her car and rushed to the door. Kate forcefully opened the door, and she almost pushed her mom to the ground because she was about to go out to welcome her daughter.

Felix, who was laying on the couch, operating his phone, jumped in fear after the door was forcefully opened.

“ What is after you, Kate?” Mrs. Emily asked with her eyes wide open.

“ Sis,” Felix called out.“ are you okay?” he asked worriedly after seeing the anger written all over her face.

“ I hate you, mom!” that's what she managed to say, and tears began flowing down her cheeks.

She attempted to run to her room, but Felix quickly stood up and held her back. Kate covered her mouth with her palms, so she won't scream out, which might call the neighbors' attention.

“ Why are you crying?” Felix inquired as he tried to get a clue of what happened.

He could remember clearly that Kate informed them that she was going to a party that had to do with successful and noble business partners.

They were expecting her to come back singing joyful songs and not this.

In fact, both Felix and his mom didn't go to bed because they were waiting for Kate's arrival, so they can celebrate her progress in the business. But the opposite just happened.

“ Did that bitch attack you too?” Felix asked again and Kate shook her head.

Mrs. Emily, on the other hand, was lost on why her daughter said she hated her. What has she done wrong to deserve that statement?

“ Then what happened, sis?” Felix inquired.

Kate took his hand off her shoulder and located a seat to relax and calm her mind. She sat down and buried her face in her palms and sobbed bitterly.

The living room went silent for a few minutes as everyone sat down and gazed at her as they patiently waited for her to speak up.

“ I lost everything,” she finally announced.

“ What?” Felix and his mother exclaimed in chorus.

“ How did it happen?” Felix curiously asked.

Kate stopped sobbing and used the back of her hand and wiped the tears before crossing her legs.

She narrated everything that happened at that party without skipping a single scene.

The two souls sitting before Kate were shocked, and their mouths were wide open as they listened to her.

“ This is all your fault, mom,” Kate accused her of being responsible for this predicament.

If not for her evil advice to divorce Aidan, she wouldn't have done that, and now, here comes the result. How can she do this alone without Aidan? It would be tough.

“ I didn't force you to divorce him, Kate.” Mrs. Emily protested.“ I only advised you, and you foolishly accepted without thinking twice.”

“ Mom?” Kate was shocked that her mom was trying to throw the blame at her.

“ You all should stop this.” Felix jumped into their argument.“ we should be thinking of how to solve this and not blame each other.” he said.

“ And what are you suggesting?” Kate quickly asked him.

“ Go back and beg Aidan for mercy,” said Mrs. Emily.

“ What? Never!” Both Kate and Felix retorted at the same time as though they were being controlled by a remote.

“ I don't think he will ever forgive us. Begging him to come back to this family is like a waste of time.” Felix explained and Kate concorded with him.

“ If I can remember, Aidan is a good man with a good heart. And I believe he can easily forgive.” Mrs. Emily insisted.

“ Forgive, you said?” Kate smirked.“ after the insults and the humiliation? That will be hard though.” she added.

They all brought their suggestions, but they couldn't pick one and focus on it. At last, Kate had a good idea. Calling Mr. Donald to plead with him was the best option she had.

She called him twice, but he didn't pick up. Kate ended up texting him and his reply gave her a bit of relief.

“ I'm sorry that I can't do anything about this because it's beyond my power. But come to the company headquarters in the next two days, so you can meet my boss. He might listen to you, but I can't tell…”

That was the text message she received from Mr. Donald. Kate prayed that his boss will be a nice man who will listen to her cry, or else, all hope will be lost.
