7 Home At Last

As Sharon drove Aidan home, she could feel how he was filled with anger. There was no trace of happiness on his face.

Sharon was scared to talk to him, so he wouldn't get angrier because he didn't look like someone who would reply to her amid this critical situation.

He looks hurt, heartbroken, and betrayed. One doesn't need to ask about that because it was written all over his face.

Sharon couldn't help but stare at Aidan, who has been staring at a ring he placed on his palms.

This tells Sharon that the divorce took place that very day. No doubt about that.

Seeing him in this mood, Sharon thought music would at least help, so she decided to play music as she drove, but he didn't seem to move by the music.

However, he didn't hesitate to give her directions to his house. That was the number one important thing he must do so he could get home.

Take left, take right; make a U-turn, and so on. She needed it to locate his house, or else, they would get lost because she didn't know his house.

Seeing that Aidan still maintained a frown face, Sharon turned off the music and cleared her throat, so she could talk to him.

“ May I ask you a question?” she conversed with a cracked voice.“ that's if you don't mind.”

“ Sure,” Aidan nodded.“ but don't forget to maintain your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the busy road. I'm too young to die, please,” he said with a calm voice.

His statement made Sharon smile. Although she never expected him to easily reply to her because of how moody he was.

“ I won't,” she replied,“ because I'm too young to die too,” she added and Aidan nodded.

“ So, what's it that you want to ask?” he inquired.

“ Well, nothing much. I wondered how your wife isn't…”

“ Point of correction,” he cut into her words." She's my ex-wife, and not my wife. Write it down in your brain because the next time you will make this mistake…until then before you will know what I will do to you.” he furrowed his brow after saying this.

“ I apologize for that. I won't.”

“ Better,” Aidan muttered.

The truth is, Sharon was glad that he is smiling a bit now, and not like before when he was frowning his face.

“ My question is, how comes your wi… I mean, your ex-wife doesn't know your identity?” she asked with a serious tone.“ because I can't remember knowing you as a poor man.”

Aidan sighed and responded,“ Well, I'm still the same as you knew me before, but I refused to present myself to her like that.”

“ And why is that?” she asked.“ sorry that I'm asking too many questions, but I feel I should cure my curiosity, you know.”

“ Yeah, I understand.” he muttered,“ and asking why I keep my identity a secret, I can't say much about that. But I feel I should do it to help her family and also know if she truly loves me,” he added.

“ And how many years have you been in that marriage?”

“ Hmm… a couple of three years,” he answered.“. However, I was thinking of showing them my true identity by the end of the month, but see how it ends,” Aidan explained.

“ Wow!” Sharon gasped.“ three years? That's really too long. I can't endure that long if I was the one. A billionaire living a secret life for good three years? Certainly, not me.” she confessed and Aidan chuckled.

“ I have a thousand and one reasons for that, though.”

“ Oh wow. Can I hear some of your reasons, please?”

“ That should be another day,” he replied to her.

“ Why?” She was curious to know why Aidan had decided to punish himself this much.

“ Because I'm home already,” he said simply.

Sharon looked forward carefully and discovered that they were approaching a tall estate gate with a beautiful, intricate design. They finally arrived after a long ride.

“ Ohh… I can see,” she muttered.

They arrived at the estate gate, and the gatekeepers stopped them. One of the gatekeepers approached them and flashed light on their faces.

He did this because he had never seen this type of car passing through the gate before. This was the first time, so he needed to search them thoroughly.

Most importantly, it was already night, and that was the best time bad citizens operated. For this, they need to be extra careful.

“ That's bad, young man,” Sharon complained as she hid her face from the reflection of the sharp touch light.

“ Pardon me, ma'am.” the security apologized.“ but may I know you and the reason for your coming?” he inquired.

“ Turn to the other side and talk to him,” Sharon told the security man.

He obeyed and turned around to the other side where Aidan was sitting. The young man stood and lowered his gaze at Aidan, but Aidan's face didn't look familiar to him.

Aidan, on the other hand, didn't turn aside to look at the man standing beside the car. He expected the gatekeeper to recognize him, but it seems he was dumb to remember his face.

“ May I know the reason for your coming, sir?” he finally asked, and Aidan raised his head and turned his gaze to him.

“ Do you want me to introduce myself?” Aidan asked sincerely.

“ Sure,” the young man nodded.

Aidan chuckled and said,“ tell your colleagues that their presence is needed here.” his calm voice echoed.

“ And why should I do that?” the man smirked.

“ I said call your colleagues for me!” he said with a commanding tone.

For some certain reason, the man informed his colleagues who were five in number to come over.

They murmured before gesturing to where the car stopped.

All of them were holding guns with ID cards hung in their chest pockets. One could easily tell that they are trained officers.

Immediately they arrived, Aidan picked up a jotter and a pen and gave it to them, but they didn't receive it.

“ What for?” one of them asked.

“ Each of you should write his name here,” he said, and they stared at each other for a few seconds before they finally received the jotter and jotted down their names.

Before they could finish doing that, one of their colleagues arrived and yelled at them,“ What are you all doing there?”

“ Come over, sir.” one of the gatekeepers responded.“ we don't know what this young man here is telling us,” he added, and their senior colleague went.

As soon as he approached the car, he saluted. His fellow security men were lost to see their colleague saluting this stranger.

Aidan didn't say a word, rather, he removed the sheet of paper the gate men wrote their names on and stretched it to the man who saluted him.

“ Officer Lucius,” he called out, and the officer responded.

“ Yes, sir!”

“ Take this paper and inform your boss that these six officers are sacked!” he announced.“ new workers should be recruited, if possible, tonight.”

That was the command Aidan gave because he was disappointed at the officers who didn't recognize him and also delayed his time at the gate.

The estate belongs to his late father, and he expected every worker in the estate to know him.

However, this also mixed with the humiliation and insults he has received from those ungrateful bastards. The anger was still there.

“ Yes, sir!” officer Lucius saluted once more and received the paper.

The men in uniform began pleading with him, but he whined up the glass to avoid their disturbance.

Officer Lucius went ahead to open the gate for Aidan to pass but suddenly waved at them to stop.

Aidan whined down the glass and asked,“ What's it, officer Lucius?”

“ Pardon me, sir,” he lowered his gaze to the ground as he spoke to Aidan.“ they are new here, that's why they didn't recognize you.”

“ So, what are you trying to tell me, Lucius?”

“ Please forgive them.” officer Lucius pleaded on their behalf.

Aidan frowned and then sighed.“ Alright, I will see to that when I'm passing here tomorrow morning. Let them spend the night here.” he told Lucius, and he thanked Aidan.

Getting to another beautiful gate inside the estate, Aidan told Sharon to horn, which she did.

The gate suddenly opened by itself because it uses a remote, and the gate man had used the remote control to open it.

They don't need to check who was at the gate because they have seen them from the security cameras that were being installed at every angle of the mansion, including outside.

As soon as they entered the mansion, Sharon was stunned by what she saw. All the house servants came over at once and welcomed him.

This states that they saw him on the camera and all the servants were informed within minutes, which made them storm out in unison.

“ Welcome to my house, Sharon,” he said with a smile curving his lips.

Before Sharon could respond, Aidan's mother and younger sister stormed out of the house and ran over to him.

They hugged him so tight and kissed both his cheeks and forehead.

“ You are back, at last.” his mother muttered.
