CHAPTER 2. STRANGE LAND

SYSTEM 2

Lugard eyes opened slowly and he was bewildered to find himself lying in the middle of a forest. As he gently stood up from the ground, observing around him, all he could see and hear was trees and birds chirping. The sound of the breeze that blew sweetly across the forest, gave a sense of serene spirit.

" Where am I ? " He asked as his eyes kept searching for a clue in confusion. His hand subconsciously touched his skin, and the smooth feeling he felt made him jolted in surprise, unlike the rough feeling he was familiar with.

Without saying a word, he began padding out of the spot he was, to see if he could find a way out of this strange location, but he only kept going deeper into the forest.

Then, the realization of him being in a strange land hits him, and he shove his hand into his pocket to get his phone.

He dialled his dad's number but there was no service at all. The phone was just blank; like a toy.

" where the hell Is this place that has got no service in the 21st century ?" he muttered in frustration as he tries to recall what happened before now; but suddenly, he heard a loud voice echoed in his head as an invisible window immediately appeared in front of him.

[Host awakened ]

"What the hell is this?" Lugard asked, seeing what was displayed in front of him and he heard the strange voice in his head.

[I am a system assigned to you, sir. I will follow you wherever you go]

"A system ? What the hell is a system ? please get the hell outta my face" he swung his hand to hit it away but it only passed through it and the system window was still at his face. Instead, it turned into a mirror and lugard was surprised when he saw his his reflection for the very first time in years. His face was glowing so wonderfully like the morning sun, looking so fresh without a single spot.

" O.M.G.." He exclaimed in shock. He had avoided looking at the mirror for years, because of how discouraging it is to his ego. And now this ?

In total confusion, he turns around to see if it would dispel from his sight, when his eyes met with an old man leaning on a tree. His beards were all white and pure and he was on a white attire. As lugard opened his mouth to speak, his words got hooked in his throat. He couldn't fanthom how the old man suddenly appeared and how he was meditating in this bush.

He tried to speak up again and as if the man knew what question he was about to ask, he gave lugard the answer before the words could leave his mouth.

" Fear not boy, I am the guardian spirit to the world of tekashi " he said with his eyes closed, still maintaining a meditative state.

" A guardian spirit ? Wow, so nice. Can you tell me what am doing in a strange land ?" He asked nonchalantly.

" You aren't just in a strange land but a strange world entirely, as your system had said" the old man replied

" Oh, so it's actually true ??? What am I doing here in the land of tekashi, or is it a land for the dead ? " He asked.

" Your body was thrown down the cliff and you died, but you were given a new one by the heavens " old wizard replied

" So what is this land all about ?"

" You are on your path to wonderland and this tree am leaning on, leads to it."

" What ? Wonderland ? Hahaha, you gotta be kidding me," lugard laughed hysterically. Wonderland was every one's dream. It was a place of magic and learning of amazing skills but was only meant for the level 7 awakened ones. Not even his teachers had been to wonderland before, except for the likes of Lord Morgan and his wizards, and here is a man telling a poor weakling like him about it.

" I really don't believe you, old man. Stop the prank and tell me where I am. I can't even hold a sword properly. lol. I wouldn't cause a fuss if I'm in the land of the dead. I will accept my fate." He said and the wizard shook his head with a smirk.

" Then come with me," the old wizard stood up and Immediately, the tree in which he leaned on opened, exposing a really bright light, which was enough to blind a human. " Come in" the old wizard said and walked in, followed by lugard who was slightly covering his eyes with his arms and then, he received the greatest shock...

" Welcome to wonderland" Lugard opened his mouth wide in surprise as he tried so hard to control his excitement.

The beauty of the land made him believe how and why it had its name (wonder land). The trees and plants were completely different from that of Earth realm as they bear different fruits that hasn't been seen before. One of the things that caught his attention the most was seeing birds having conversations with humans. It was his first time of seeing birds that speaks in human language.

" Don't worry, animals talk to humans here." the wizard said to him when he saw how surprised he was.

As they proceeded, he saw skilled sword men, practicing and got more intrigued to see children between the age range of 7–10 to be part of it. It was as if this world was designed for warriors. Young boys and girls were punching bricks like it was a really soft pillow. Something he was scared to do at his age.

" Don't get distracted by the Ladies," the Old wizard warned when lugard eyes darted to two beautiful ladies who were passing by. They were decently dressed and smelt really nice, but extremely beautiful.

" Who are they?" He asked, still staring

" They are part of the magic school here. The one on red is Tasha while that on blue is Alicia. They have really good techniques and probably the best students in class."

" Wow" lugard was still lustfully staring till they disappeared into thin air. It was as if everything was wired differently here, including the unique beauty of the ladies.

" Can I see them again ? " He asked.

" No lugard, you have to complete what you are here for ?"

" And what's that ?" He asked and the old man shook his head with a smile. " Come with me" they both proceeded into a building which had a large writing on the wall [TEKASHI MARTIAL SCHOOL]]

The school was so big and he could see muscular men in an enclosed ring preparing for a fight while people cheered them up. It was so obvious that there was a competition going on as people were rushing to get tickets just to watch as the auditorium got filled with people.

He wondered how they both passed the securities without getting stopped when they didn't have any tickets.

" What are we doing here ? " Lugard asked as he took a position, but startled out when he saw the match between two warriors. The bigger one who was known to be an undefeated champion, gave his opponent a brutal beating and severe cuts with his swords till he passed out.

" OMG, is he dead ? " Lugard voice trembles as some men rushed into the ring and dragged out the unconscious body of the victim, which was already in a pool of blood and sweat while the champion boast of his power

" I am the greatest!!! I am undeafeated, no one can beat me!!!! Hahahaha who would dare challenge me ? " He boast, while the crowd cheers him. But lugard was so uncomfortable with the sight of blood he could see in the ring and couldn't take it.

" I know you came to watch the match but am not a fan of brutal combats, please let's get out of here," lugard exhaled and said while he gets ready to leave but the old wizard smiled.

" But the man boasting has set an open challenge, there's got to be someone to fight him,"

" What ? Who would do that ? Can't you see how big and muscular he is........" As lugard was explaining, the unexpected happened.

" AND NOW, LET'S MAKE WELCOME ANOTHER FIGHTER. HE IS NEW BUT SAID TO BE A GOOD FIGHTER. LUGARD..... BROAFIELD.... " The MC announced.

" What ? Lugard brosfield ? did I just hear my name ? Oh, there's another fighter that bears similar name with me, right ?" lugard asked in surprise and laughed softly but the sad news came shortly

" Nope, that was you. That's the main reason I brought you here. To fight ! " the old wizard said and lugard drew back in disbelief.

" To fight, hahahaha, you gotta be kidding me," he bursted into laughter again.

" You gotta to be joking for asking a weakling like me to fight a monster; and even if you were serious, I wouldn't even dream of fighting " lugard Loled when he took a glance to see how big and strong the monster is. It was 7 times his height, and so big in size.

" Yea, I know you won't and that's why I have got to make you to "

The old wizard snapped his fingers and lugard got surrounded by 3 muscular men who could break him into parts effortlessly. Two of them grabbed each of his arms while the other one was pointing a sword to his face, with a frown. "

"Oh no not again " he sighs in frustration. He definitely had an issue with people snapping their fingers at him. The last time it happened, he got thrown down the cliff and now this.......

" Obey the siffu, or you would pay darely for it " one said

" Sifu..... Who's siffu ? Who are you, really ?" Lugard confusingly directed his question to the old wizard who was staring at him with a menacing smile.

" Am the owner of this school, and I have chosen you to defeat one of the best of my champion."

" What ? you are what ?" Lugards eyes widened in surprise.
