The moment they stepped out of the alley, Alastair turned around and shot a telekinetic blast at the men which suspended them in the air before they crashed to the ground.
The move surprised Cara for she jumped to the side. Apparently, she had not noticed the men following them. How could she? She was just a little girl without any training. The men tried to stand but their bodies were too weak to comply. Alastair moved towards them but at that moment, he felt a knife flying his way. He quickly stopped and dodged the knife and ducked as another knife hurled at him. Then two men stepped out of a corner, holding swords with which they attacked him.He punched the ground and a wave of energy swept them all off their feet. They all fell, groaning in pain as their bones dislocated. But then, the knives came again. The one who was throwing the knives was a short man with incredible acrobatic skills. He threw the knives with much precision and accuracy that one of them managed to hit Alastair on the shoulder. He groaned as it did and pulled it out, using his magic to send it back to the man. The knife impaled the man on the thigh and another blast from Alastair sent him straight into a wall."I believe that is quite enough now."A familiar voice said and someone began to walk towards them. Alastair turned around and there she was, the bartender. She was dressed in a pair of trousers and boots with a rather large shirt on top. There was a fancy hat on her head and she held a pipe in her hand. Beside her was the man that had walked into the bar with a strange energy. What was going on?"You! What are you doing here?" Alastair asked her."Oh, I thought you were looking for the captain that dances with the sun? Well, here she is. Judging by the way you have beat up my men, useless things they are, I can actually guess you're a high-ranking mage from the Elderien's keep."She said and her eyes roamed to Cara. She smiled at her but Cara cringed."I am ready to answer all of your questions. Just follow me. But you will answer some of mine as well. Deal?" She asked and Alastair pondered. If the captain was a woman-her, then who was that man? Why did he have that energy? Nevertheless, he needed answers. It was not like she could do anything to him. He had his magic."Deal." He finally replied and she smiled. She led them into an inn right at the corner of the alley and headed straight to a room.Along the way, the other men waited behind, possibly to give her privacy. She led them into a well-furnished room where she jumped on the bed and offered them seats."I must say, not a lot of people know about me from Elderien, and definitely not mages like you. So, who are you and what do you want with the captain who dances with the sun?" She asked."My name is Alastair. We came here because we are looking for the isle of mist and we had reliable information that you might know where it is." Alastair said. She was silent for a moment and studied him carefully."Alastair...why does that name ring a bell? Oh, yes, weren't you the mage that went berserk in the keep? I heard you had disappeared all these times. What brought you out?" She asked, chuckling as she did. It made Alastair uncomfortable."Look, a great terror is coming to this world and the only shot we have at stopping it is getting to the isle of mists. So, tell me where it is and I will gladly be on my way.""Look, I do not know who told you that I know where the Isle is but they are mistaken. Everyone knows that isle is a myth.""My source never lies."The captain sighed."Okay, this might be nothing but, many years ago, I was alone in the sea. A terrible storm had taken my crew from me. I was barely holding on to life but then I saw something. It was just for a moment though, a bright light and within it, I could see something like an island. I don't know what I saw. Turns out I passed out almost immediately and when I woke up, I had been rescued. That was when I got the nickname 'the captain who dances with the sun.' I still wonder what made them give me that name.""Where exactly did you have this vision?" Alastair asked."The Melorian Sea." She replied.Alastair combed his hand through his hair. The Melorian Sea was the largest in the world and was also said to be the house of evil itself. As Alastair thought about it, it made sense that the isle should be located there. It was ominous for a reason. But how would they get there? It was so far away that it would take weeks to travel by sea."If you are looking for a way there, I can provide you with one. I have a friend in Brheila. He owns a ship that travels the Melorian Sea regularly. I do not know what they are looking for and I do not care. I can take you there. It's just on the other side of the river." She offered."What's the catch? Someone like you would never help me without payment." Alastair told her. She smiled when he said the words."Just tell me, can you read minds, Alastair?"Alastair was silent, then she laughed again."Let's go. We have a ship to catch."She said and walked out of the room."Get your shit together you swine! We are going to Brheila." She cursed at her men who all replied with an "aye," as they hurried along. They went to the port and along the way, she did not do anything to make Alastair doubt her interest. But he kept Cara close at all times. They soon got to the port and then boarded a ship. The captain led Alastair and Cara inside the cabin, handing them a fruit wine along the way. Alastair took a sip, it was so tasty. Cara followed suit and soon, they were inside an equally well, furnished room. She offered Alastair a chair as well but the moment he sat, the chair suddenly wrapped itself around him.Cara attempted to move but the tall man from the bar smacked her right on the face, causing her to crash on the ground, falling unconscious. Alastair tried to use his magic but he could not, something was blocking his powers."You, what are you doing?" He asked the captain who slowly walked towards him."I am doing something that will benefit me, Alastair. I hope you understand."She said and smiled. "And oh, your powers are being blocked by a Wraith. I suppose you have met him before now.", She said and pointed her hand toward the man from the bar. No wonder he felt that energy. He was a wraith, a creature believed by mages to be malicious. They could also make weapons that could block magic, such as that chair. How could he not see it coming? How was he so stupid? She played him right into her own game. But then, he began to feel dizzy. No! The wine.It had something in it as well. By the gods! He struggled to stay awake but was suddenly overwhelmed by a desire to sleep, one he could not fight off.But the wraith had no patience for him, he walked towards Alastair and smacked him on the face as well."Sweet dreams, Alastair. Sweet dreams."Was the last thing he heard before he drifted off to sleep."Alastair!"His eyes suddenly opened when he heard someone call his name. The voice sounded like thunder and it roared through his entire body. As the smell of rancidity hit him, he realized that he might have known who it was that called him. There he was, standing on a rock, beneath which lava flowed like a stream. The lava was extensive and it almost surrounded the rock on which he stood. The rancid smell continued to hit his nose but he did not know where it was coming from. Something was definitely off."Alastair!"He heard the voice again. It sounded like Jaghryx, but at the same time, it sounded like Asmodeus. He took a look around. It was obvious that he was in some vision like the one Asmodeus had pulled him in before. He just needed to find him and find a way to wake up. He knew he was having it hot in the real world and the last thing he needed was Asmodeus' troubles."Come to me...."Came a faint whisper. The whisper came again and he saw the lava on the ground drying up.
"Woah! Someone had a nightmare."The captain teased as Alastair breathed heavily like the air would get sucked away from him if he even relents. He moved his arms slowly, the magical chair still grasping him in place. The captain walked closer to him and crunched, gazing into his eyes before she placed her hand on his shoulder and gave it a light squeeze."What did you see, Alastair? What visions did those pretty eyes of yours experience?" She asked, still squeezing his shoulder. He shrugged, causing her to remove her hands from his shoulder."If you are really desperate for a vision, why don't you unbind me from this chair? I will give you all the visions you could ever possibly think of." Alastair said to her. She thought for a second, walked towards Alastair, and slowly roamed her hand through the straps that were holding him in place. Was she truly going to do it? Alastair wondered. She kept on touching the straps, but then, she burst out into laughter."And did you think I woul
Alastair spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how he was going to break the wraith's magic. He was running out of time and he knew it. If he had not been alarmed before then, it wasn't so for his entire body was screaming with alertness. To make matters worse, he could not tell what the time was. The cell they placed him in barely had a source of light. The strong, brick walls that held up the cell called out to him, telling him that he was not going to find a way out of the mess he was in. He suspected he was done. But could he truly be? He had dinner in the past, he was well aware of that fact. Although he deserved to die for what he did to that girl, he had to live for Cara. His being alive would benefit him and the world around him better than his death. So, he closed his eyes again, took a deep breath, and focused his mind on the energy pulsating from the chain. He noticed something."Four-three-four-two-four-one-four-three..."The energy had a rhythm that gave differen
Alastair conjured a shield around himself and proceeded to walk into the burning harem. One of the supports for the front door pulled off and hit his shield, bouncing off as It did. He walked inside, the flames and smoke almost blinding him. The heat and the smoke could Still penetrate through the shield. But he did not stop. He kept walking, looking from one room to the other."Cara!" He called out as he passed from one room to the other, the ceiling falling on his shield as he did. The fire was getting even hotter but he persisted. He kept on going, reinforcing his shield as he did."Cara!"He called out again but there was no reply. There were a lot of dead Bodies on the ground and as he kept on walking, he realized that he no longer felt the sudden tension he used to feel whenever he saw fire and bodies. Was he slowly getting free from the guilt the past held on him? Was his desire to protect Cara stronger than the losses and pain he had suffered? He realized it was. He needed to
Damek took a deep breath as he inhaled the smoke from the sage he was burning. His eyes rolled to the top of his eyes, the energy from the smoke filling him with its essence. One of the sorcerers standing there walked towards him, his bare feet slapping the ground as he picked up another large sage and lit it on fire. The sage burned, bringing out smoke that Damek quickly inhaled."Master, shall we bring in the blood?"The same sorcerer asked him. Damek could barely remember his name, not in that state anyway. He raised his hand and gestured for them to bring it inside the dark cave they were in. The only source of light in the cave were tiny candles which lit up the other part of the cave where bones, sages, and charms were located. But for where Damek knelt, there was only darkness.Damek coughed, and a soft growl escaped his lips. He turned around as the sorcerers brought in the blood inside a bowl and placed it before him. He crawled towards the bowl and in the next moment, dug hi
Miranda wondered how the mages were able to find out about where she would be taking Alastair. At first, she could not make them out but then she realized that they were palace Mages. There was no way they could have known about Alastair's presence.Unless one of them has been spying on her. But she refused to believe that. It was creepy and it did not make any sense. And besides, she did not know of any mage in the palace with such skill. However, she decided to keep her head down for some time. She was genuinely worried about Alastair, and also for the little girl with him. Such a delicate child is being dragged into the complicated world of magic and mages. She wished there was more she could do for them, perhaps go to Reina to find them? And then, do what exactly? She sighed. Her emotions were getting the best of her. She needed a clear head and she was not going to get that thinking of Alastair. As she stepped out of her quarters, she seemed to see a chatter among the maids. She
Miranda felt betrayed as the horse trudged along. Her mind was warping through a lot of things. She just could not understand how she could have read the signs wrong. She had never been wrong about people. What changed? What happened?A large dog ran out of the bush and quickly stopped as Miranda's horse nearly stepped on it. Miranda looked at the animal and traced its sight as the dog barked at something. It was a snake! The snake was on the other side of the tiny bush path Miranda and Hela had taken. Looking at the dog bark at the snake and its unending attempt to attack the creature suddenly gave her an idea. What if she was not wrong? What if Turin was innocent? Where and how exactly did Richmond get his evidence? She thought for a moment. There was only one way she could know. She needed to hear it directly from Turin's mouth. They took the final turn and entered the palace vicinity. Her hood was still raised, covering most of her face."Princess, look, they are taking him away.
Her legs were heavy as she trudged out of Richmond's Chambers. Never did she expect him to go so far. She knew he would do anything within his power to keep the throne for himself and although she believed she could do better for the people, she would never usurp him. That was not in her nature, she was not a thief. So why? Why did he have to strike some crazy deal with sorcerers? Why was he trying to frame Tyrion for Treason? Was he the one who sent him that money? No, it could not be. Miranda, at that very moment, realized who the true enemy was. It was the sorcerer in the shadows, the one behind Richmond's head, filling it with all sorts of ideas. That was the true enemy and she knew that her brother was too dumb to ever fight such a threat. She nearly fell, so she quickly helped herself by clenching to the wall. Her heart was heavy. She felt like crying because she did not like where the whole situation was going. It wouldn't end well. Someone was trying to destroy the royal fa
