"Max," Nathan muttered, trying to keep his composure, "Do you really want me to kneel here in front of our former classmates—and Ms. Sy? Don't you think you're taking this too far?"

"Too far?" Max chuckled, tilting his head. "Weren't you the one who set the stakes yourself? Didn't you think that was a bit much?"

Everyone turned to Nathan with mocking looks, some murmuring amongst themselves.

"What's wrong, Nathan? Got nothing to say now?" one of them whispered, chuckling.

"Yeah, you're the one who started this," added another, crossing his arms. "You made the bet, Nathan, and now that you lost to Max, you're chickening out?"

Nathan's face flushed with frustration, his fists clenched as he fought the urge to lash out. The thought of kneeling to the man he had belittled so many times, to the man he despised, was humiliating enough. But licking Max's shoe? It was beyond humiliation.

Nathan's gaze shifted to Katrina, his last hope. He stepped toward her, pleading, "Ms. Sy, please... surel

For a few moments, they all stood there, quietly awed by the grand villa towering in front of them."Max, what are we doing at this villa?" Alexa asked, still unable to tear her eyes away from the place.Max, casual as ever, simply replied, "This is the villa I bought."Alexa blinked in surprise, almost as if she hadn't heard him right. She tugged at her ear, half-laughing as she clarified, "Wait—what did you just say?"Max's smile deepened. "This will be our new home."Alexa froze, staring at him in pure disbelief, glancing around at the vast grounds and trying to comprehend his words. Blaine, meanwhile, who had also been stunned into silence, finally spoke up, "Max… did you actually buy this villa?"Max nodded. Blaine looked back at the property, eyebrows raised as he murmured

  • The Enigmatic Son-in-law   Great Grandmaster

Max turned to see a strikingly beautiful girl, probably around eighteen, standing firmly in his way. She had a cute, determined face that radiated confidence, and her shoulder-length hair was styled into a casual ponytail, with a few loose strands framing her features. She wore a fitted white blouse tucked into high-waisted jeans, her posture and expression showing she was clearly someone who didn't back down easily.Noticing Max staring at her, she scolded, "What? Don't even think about cutting in line. Just because you're trying to act cool doesn't mean you're getting any special treatment!"People in the line started murmuring and shooting him looks of disapproval. "He's probably here to cut the line," whispered a well-dressed man nearby, wearing a crisp blazer, gold watch, and polished leather shoes, looking at Max with disdain.Another person, a woman in simple, worn clothes and visibly tired from standing in line, nodded in agreement. "Some people have no shame, thinking they'r

"For a second there, I thought your visit was for something far more urgent, Master."Max chuckled at his response, prompting Cris to pause and think before speaking again."Well, the clinic's been doing well overall," Cris began thoughtfully, "but recently, I encountered something... strange." He seemed hesitant to continue, as if he were still processing it himself.Max's brows knitted in curiosity. "Strange? What kind of strange?"Cris nodded, gathering his thoughts. "I've had some patients come in with normal symptoms—nothing out of the ordinary. But the nature of their conditions felt... abnormal.""How so?" Max pressed, clearly intrigued."Well," Cris replied, "at first, it was easy to treat these cases—an ordinary fever here, some mild respiratory issues there. Then, there was one patie

Outside the villa, Bianca couldn't sit still, constantly checking the time. "Master Cris, it's been half an hour since Grand Master Max went inside. Are you sure he's okay in there by himself?" she asked, obviously worried.Cris shook his head calmly. "Relax, Bianca. You know he told us not to get involved. Anderson and Darwin exchanged a knowing look, a subtle nod signaling the start of their plan. Anderson was the first to break the silence, his voice firm yet laced with a false tone of reason. "Dad, I have to object to this decision," he began. "Blaine's position in the company isn't strong enough yet. What if the board and the employees don't fully support him? This could lead to instability."Darwin quickly chimed in, supporting his brother's argument. "Exactly. While Blaine has achieved some successes, it's premature to place him in such a critical position. We need to think about the company's long-term security, and this move might jeopardize it."Blake's sharp eyes turned toward them, his expression unreadable. "Are you saying the support of the Gonzales family isn't sufficient?" he asked calmly, his tone carrying a subtle challenge.Anderson hesitated before shaking his head. "It's not that, Dad. The partnership with the Gonzales family has undoubtedly been a significant boost

Leo shot up from his chair, his voice rising with disbelief. "Impossible!" He pointed accusingly at Max, his face twisted with frustration."There's no way someone like him could pull something like this off!" Lily chimed in, her tone sharp and dismissive. "The Gonzales family? Really? How could Max, of all people, even get near them?"Anderson leaned back, shaking his head, his lips curling into a scornful smile. "This has to be some kind of joke. Max barely has any credentials, let alone connections to one of the most influential families in the country."Darwin folded his arms, his brows furrowing in skepticism. "Exactly. He's just riding on Alexa's fame and Blaine's name. What could he possibly have to offer that would interest the Gonzales family?"Leo suddenly laughed, his voice dripping with mockery. He turned to Alicia. "You don't have to cover for him, Aunt Alicia. We all know how much you dislike your son-in-law. Why the sudden loyalty? Just admit it—Max didn't do anything.

The room fell silent, with everyone still tense from Blake's earlier words. The elderly man looked around at their expressions and suddenly chuckled, his laughter echoing in the stillness. "Why do you all look so nervous?" he asked, his tone teasing. "Am I so scary now?"The tension broke momentarily, replaced by a few awkward smiles, but Blake waved them off as he adjusted himself in his chair. "Relax, all of you. I'm an old man now, and all I want is to live the rest of my life in peace."He turned his gaze to Alexa and Max, his smile softening. "And it seems like you two are doing well together," he said warmly.Alexa smiled back and spoke, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Grandpa. Honestly, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have met Max."Max nodded in agreement and added, "You've given me a gift I'll always cherish. Thank you, sir."Blake laughed heartily, clearly pleased. "Where is Dad?"Leo responded politely, "He's on his way down, Dad." Then, his eyes swept across the room, and he asked, "Uncle Blaine isn't here yet?"Darwin smirked, leaning back in his chair. "Of course not. VIPs are always late, aren't they?"Leo chuckled, his tone laced with sarcasm. "I suppose so." Then, with a sly grin, he added, "I saw online that Alexa's ratings are soaring. She's trending again."Lily rolled her eyes dramatically. "Well, good for her, I guess. That just means her worthless husband gets to live in luxury. Alexa's money, his comfort. Must be nice."Leo laughed, his voice dripping with

Max noticed Alexa's hesitation and asked gently, "What's going on?"Alexa sighed, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Uncle called to say Grandpa's calling for a family gathering. He said it's important. They tried calling Dad, but he wasn't answering, so Uncle called me instead."Max nodded and stood. "Alright, let's go."Alexa nodded as well and got up to prepare herself. After a few minutes, she emerged from their bedroom wearing an elegant silver dress, paired with a designer silver handbag. Her hair was tied neatly in a bun, exuding sophistication. Max stepped out shortly after, dressed in his usual casual and simple attire.Alexa smiled, knowing full well that her husband preferred to stay lowkey despite his status. Max took the driver's seat, and before starting the car, Alexa said, "Let's stop by our old house first to pick up Dad and Mom."Max nodded and started driving.Upon arriving at

A few days had passed since the kidnapping incident. It was Sunday, a day of rest, and Max and Alexa sat in their luxurious villa, enjoying breakfast together. Max took a sip of his coffee and asked, "How's work going for you as an actress?"Alexa smiled as she placed a slice of toast on her plate. "It's going well. My ratings and popularity keep climbing," she said cheerfully. "I've achieved most of my dreams, so maybe after this upcoming movie, I'll aim to be an ambassador or focus on something more meaningful."Max nodded approvingly. "That's good to hear. It suits you."Alexa tilted her head thoughtfully, and a memory sparked in her mind. She set down her fork and looked at Max with curiosity. "Wait... Chable Star is under the Crownguard Group, right?"Max glanced at her with a knowing smile but said nothing. Her eyes widened. "So, it was you all along! "I just wanted to live a peaceful life, Alexa. I never intended to deceive you or hide anything from you," he said. "You know this marriage was arranged by your grandfather."At that, Alexa's expression hardened. She interrupted, "Then why didn't you refuse? Our family is just second-class compared to someone like you. You're… you're someone so much greater."Max sighed again, his gaze softening as he explained, "Your grandfather helped me in the past. He showed me kindness when no one else did. Marrying you was my way of repaying that debt.""That's not enough," Alexa said, shaking her head. Her voice was firm, tinged with frustration. "There has to be more. Is there another reason you kept all of this from me?"Max opened his mouth to
