Ch. 03: The Divorce.

Ethan was perplexed by the situation that he had landed himself. It felt as though she had said something he had totally misheard. He had to ask for more clarity.

"Are you talking to me?" He asked, unsure of the red haired woman's intentions

"Yes, I am talking to you. There could be no one else I would be talking to here, except you," she said.

Ethan was speechless. Sandy watched from a corner, still reeling from the slap she had sustained from Kelly. Even she could not believe her ears and eyes, let alone, Ethan.

Ethan looked at her, she flipped her face away in a spiteful manner, although she was filled with jealousy at the time.

He sure as hell was tired of the way his wife treated him, but leaving her, was a different story all together. One that he was not ready to write or embark on. He had a good relationship with her father ever since he saved the man years ago and in return, the man arranged for him to marry his only child. But as for Sandy and her mother, they couldn't be more at odds with him especially for the fact that he was poor and they considered him as “good-for-nothing”.

"I'm sorry, ma'am," he began. "But I don't think I can do that. I am not that kind of man to run away from a marriage because of ill treatment. I took a vow."

"Aww, a loyal man." Kelly was delighted. Her eyes glittered as she said those words. "What you say only makes me want you more. You should know that."

"Tchh." Sandy was frustrated as she stared at the two of them, standing there, acting as though the rest of them were not in the same room. She looked at Matthew who at that point was holding and tending to his broken bloodied nose. "I wish I could just go over there and give her back the slap she left on my cheek," she said to Matthew.

"You can still do that," Mathew urged her on, having nothing to say to the angry Sandy than agree with her on every and anything she said.

"You know I can't. That woman is from a very wealthy family. I can't do anything to her without attracting ruin to myself. But now she is about marrying my good-for-nothing husband.”

That realization filled Sandy once more with so much jealousy that she had lost all composure and was about to step into the fray once again, to challenge Kelly when she felt herself pulled back by a strong arm.

"What! Why are you holding me back?" She turned back to lash out Matthew who held her back.

"Is that not what you wanted?" Matthew asked, sounding a tad bit confused in his judgement. "Is this not a good thing?"

Sandy did not give him a reply, but turned away from his eyes, as if to hide something she did not want him to see.

"Look," he continued. "I think you should let him marry her. After all, we all know exactly the kind of person Kelly Redmond is. We know that she is a bossy woman. If he leaves you for her then he would really only be signing himself up for slavery. That is something I am a hundred percent sure of.  She will not marry him for nothing. Just let him sign the papers and see what would happen of him. Trust me."

Sandy came back to her senses, still jealous but far less hung up on it than she had been before. Her eyes were more settled now. She pulled up her purse, opened it, brought up the copies of the divorce documents.

"Hey, scumbag," she said in much spite, throwing the documents at Justin and Kelly. "This is for you and your newly married life. Now leave me and my family alone. You got that?"

Ethan picked it up, stared back at Kelly.

"Isn't that enough reason to divorce her?" Kelly said trying to point out the irony. "You should not be with women like that.  You should have already known that by now. You do not need a soothsayer to tell you that."

With that, Ethan agreed, picking up the papers and signing on them.

"Now, are you happy?" He asked Sandy who did nothing but make a grim smile.

"Look. There you have it. You are no longer together. Leave this or I will ask the police to take you with them since the kidnappers escaped."  Kelly chased the two of them off. Sandy and her man. At the last hour, it seemed to Sandy like she had made a mistake. But she did not dwell on the thought or feelings. She left just as Kelly had ordered.

"I think I should be taking my leave for the day as well," Ethan said as well, heading to the door.

"Stop. Not you. Don't go now." Kelly stopped him from going past the door, holding him back. "I want you to come with me to the office, now. I need to talk to you concerning something.”
