“What? I-I am banned from the hospital?" Carson blinked twice in shock. "Who gave you that stupid instruction?! Do all of you hit your heads and forget who I am?!”
“We don’t forget who you are, Sir. Your family is one of the top contributors in the hospital,” Melvin answered politely, still his head lowered, the same as his people. “Your family donated buildings and hundreds of thousands of money for the hospital’s expansions and investments.”
“If you know that, then why are you doing this to me, huh?” Carson pulled Melvin on the collar and slapped him. “Why are you humiliating my family in front of a fucking beggar?!”
“He’s not the one humiliating your family,” Damian suddenly spoke, which made Carson stop assaulting Melvin. “You’re the one humiliating yourself, and you’re bringing the Ferremento family with you.”
‘And you’re dragging me into humiliation, too,’ Damian added to his thoughts.
The fact that Carson and him are blood-related sent shivers down Damian’s spine. Not because he was afraid, but because he was disgusted, knowing that Ava’s lover is a part of Damian’s bloodline.
"Fuck!" Carson pushed Melvin away and went onto Damian instead.
At first, Carson was hesitant to approach Damian, remembering that he was able to take down his people effortlessly. However, once Damian hurt him again in front of the security team, they would be forced to throw him out of the hospital.
“Are you thinking too highly of yourself just because you can fight?” Carson asked and held Damian on the collar. “Do you think that physical strength is already enough for you to fight against me? You may be strong, but you’ll always be poor. Poor people are the weakest kind of people in this world.”
Damian only shrugged. Despite knowing how valuable his identity was right now, he didn’t make a single move to defend himself. He just found it amusing how pissed Carson was now even though he didn’t talk back yet, and it clearly shows Carson’s insecurity toward him.
“What are you doing? You told me earlier that you’ll punch me again, right? Do it now.” Carson’s grip tightened. “Show them how strong you are. That’s what you wanted, isn’t it? To seek validation?”
“I guess you’re talking to yourself.” Damian flickered Carson’s hand to remove his grip.
It wasn’t even painful, but Carson seized the opportunity to frame up Damian.
“What the fuck! How dare you hurt an heir like me?!” he exclaimed before holding his hand, acting like he was hurt.
“An heir, huh…” Damian trailed off, chuckling. "Is it possible to have two heirs at the same time?"
“What nonsense was that? There could only be one heir!” Carson looked at Melvin and his people afterward. "All of you, why are you just standing there?! Drag him away! Didn’t you see how he hurt me?!”
Melvin saw how Damian hurt Carson by flickering his hand, but at the same time, he was hesitant to do anything. The order from the higher-up he received was the opposite. He was told to throw Carson away from the hospital instead.
But how could lowly people like them drag the richest family's heir away? It was like throwing their entire life away, too!
"Sir Melvin, I don't know where the order came from, but we're dealing with Sir Carson Ferremento right now," Anthony muttered to Melvin. "It will be bad for us if we get to the Ferremento family's bad side. Who knows if this is just a test of our loyalty to the heir?”
Melvin's people took Anthony earlier as one of the instructions from the higher-ups. They asked Melvin to suspend Anthony and his team because of hurting Damian, a VIP patient.
‘But Anthony is right. This poor man may be a VIP patient, but not for long. Maybe he had done a good deed to Doctor Raine, and she’s just returning the favor for now…’ Melvin pondered. ‘If I take the wrong side, everyone will lose their jobs, including me!’
Melvin’s expression changed into a menacing one. He pointed at Damian and exclaimed, “Drag that person away and punish him for hurting Sir Carson!”
“Yes, Sir!” Two guards went onto Damian and held him on both sides.
Damian sighed, disappointed, but not surprised. He didn't want to create more trouble, so he just followed as the guards pulled him away.
Carson smirked as he thought he finally won the game, but suddenly, someone came.
“All of you! What do you think you’re doing?!”
It was a man in his 40's, wearing a black and white suit and expensive eyeglasses with a photochromic lens. His whole aura screams dominance, and every guard bowed as soon as he arrived.
“Zach!” Carson called, smiling as he approached Zach, one of the hospital directors. “I think your hospital needs to re-evaluate its security. This man just caused trouble in the hospital, and he fucking had the guts of hurting me—”
Carson’s words halted as Zach just walked past him. Instead, he went to Damian and looked at the guards holding him. “Let him go, or both of you will get fired.”
“But Sir! This man hurt Sir Carson!” Melvin exclaimed while sweating profusely. “He needs to learn his lesson!”
“You should say that to yourself!” Zach shot back, massaging the bridge of his nose. “I gave you the order, didn’t I? Sir Carson is banned from this hospital now. Instead of doing your job, you even dared to drag Sir Damian away?!”
“S-Sir Damian?” Melvin asked, his knees being wobbly now because of fear. “H-How…”
Zach didn’t answer. Instead, he bowed in front of Damian. “I’m sorry for the trouble, Sir. I will give them a punishment after this. If you have something in mind, just say it and I’ll gladly follow you.”
“Zach! What the fuck are you doing?!” Carson went toward Zach and pushed him away from Damian.
Still, Zach fixed his stance and replied politely, “Sir Carson, you need to leave the hospital immediately. Starting now, you can't enter this hospital.”
“What kind of nonsense is that?!” Carson exclaimed in shock and anger. “Zachary, you know how capable I am of firing you right now. Would you like me to tell Father about this?!” he threatened, hoping that Zach would get the point.
But Zach's statement shocked him instead.
“The order came from Master Veron himself, Sir.”
“H-How could that happen? Why would Father ask you to ban me from this hospital?” Carson asked, sweating profusely. “I don’t know either, Sir,” Zach answered, his head still bowing. “To avoid commotions, you should follow us immediately. We already prepared an exit for you.” “Follow him. As an heir, you wouldn’t like to embarrass your family, right?” Damian spoke, obviously mocking Carson. “It’s your Father’s command, after all.” Damian found it strange that Carson addressed Veron as his father, although he was certain they didn’t have a relationship as a father and son. He had so many questions in mind, but Damian’s main goal now was to get Carson out of his sight. “This wouldn’t be the last time we’ll see each other. Remember that,” Carson warned him. “It will be easy for me to ruin your reputation. You’ll regret that you messed up with someone like me!” “Alright. If you say so.” Damian shrugged, unbothered. “Take him away now and take care of those people who saw this scene,"
“Mid-Century Elegance Events…” As one of the most famous event-planning companies in the country, Mid-Century Elegance Events is one of the top subsidiaries of the Ferremento Corporation. Millions of revenue are generated every month, and they hold power toward the rich families, too. Rich people book an appointment at Mid-Century despite its high fees because of their commendable work, and it is the reason why the management is keen on hiring people in the company. It was hard to land a job at this company, and even his former classmates were rejected when they applied here, too…But not Damian. Little did everyone know, he was working at Mid-Century as a janitor. Now, how could he explain to his department that he’ll be working as an intern starting today? “Is there a problem, young master?” Thaliana asked, lowering the car window. “Master told me that this company will give you more experience and learnings than the other subsidiaries, but if you don’t like it, I’ll tell him.”
“What the hell? Who are you?!” Nicole asked, her brows furrowing. “Why did you take my phone just like that? Give it back to me!” She tried taking back her phone from his hand, but failed. “Calm down first, and I’ll give it back to you,” the man replied before looking at Damian. “What are you doing here, anyway? Did I assign you to the Operations department?" “I’ll explain it to you later,” Damian answered coldly. “As you should.” “Hah! Both of you are accomplices, aren’t you?” Nicole smirked. Her gaze flickered on the man and Damian with disgust. “It should be the case! Because why would you take his side?” “Because I’m his boss.” The man smiled before taking Nicole’s hand. He placed the phone on her palm. “I’m John, one of the team leaders in the Utilities Department." “U-Utilities department?” Nicole blinked twice, realizing something. “Then…” “You're right. Damian is one of our janitors here,” John confirmed Nicole’s suspicions. “I’m saying sorry on his behalf. Usually, he’
“Yes, Sir. I heard it loud and clear,” Diana answered on the other line. “I’ll take care of it now.” “I will also send you the recording later," Damian added and hung up the phone. He looked at John. “You should have changed your attitude while you still have a chance, but you decided to continue being a jerk.” “You don’t think that I fell for your trick, do you? Who will believe that you’re talking to Ma’am Diana?” John asked disdainfully. “I'll decrease your salary. I won't accept your resignation, too. You'll live in misery here." “You have been cheating on the company for a long time. You're passing all your workloads to the employees inferior to you, and resting like you aren't getting paid…” Damian matched John’s intense gaze. “Don’t you think you’re not making everyone live in misery by doing that?” “It's none of your fucking business!” John held Damian on the collar and gritted his teeth. “Why don’t you just turn a blind eye and work like you used to? Why do you need to int
“WHAT? Why me?” Nicole pointed at herself. “Because I know you’re capable of handling a mere intern like me,” Damian answered, emphasizing every word. “You did your job properly by not letting me enter the operations department earlier. I am not on the list, so you became firm on your decisions. It's commendable.” Kierra smiled, hearing the compliment Damian gave to Nicole. She didn’t know Damian’s real identity, but since Diana personally gave instructions to assist Damian, she knew Damian was a big shot. “You hear that? He can see how talented you are despite meeting for the first time,” said Kierra, her smile unwavering. “Guide him, okay? Tell him all the processes inside the operations department. Train him well.” “But ma’am… I have too much on my plate right now.” Nicole scratched her nape. She looked at Damian, her facial expression became cold again. “He’s only an intern. Why would we need to give him special treatment like this?” “I don’t take no as an answer,” Kierra answ
Nicole was astounded after hearing Damian's threat. She should not take his threat to heart, knowing that Damian is only an intern. But her heart racing fast, afraid that Damian would do what he had said. “You may be right. They treat me as an outcast here because I have a lower financial status than them. But remember this. I'll always be superior to you!” Nicole fumed, trying to conceal her nervousness with anger. “So, how dare you threaten me, you freaking intern?” “Threat? Do you think I'm threatening you right now?” In a snap, Damian's gaze became cold and menacing. “This isn't how I threaten people, Nicole. I'm not even starting yet.” And before Nicole could even react, Damian already left the operations department. While walking to the lobby, Damian saw how the other employees threw glances at him. Most of them looked disgusted and shocked because of his presence. They were telling him through their gazes that he didn’t belong there. If only they knew his real identity, al
Damian breathed heavily as he felt a pang of pain in his heart. When he opened his eyes again, he went back to reality where the reporters continued interviewing him. “What are you thinking right now? Do you regret all the things you did?” “People are talking to Ava Medivien about whether she's going to take legal action for this. Are you ready to take responsibility?” “Please give your damn statement! Don't just stand there like a useless fool!” The last statement from one of the reporters made Damian raise an eyebrow and clench his fist. How dare they ask for his statement in a rude manner? He didn't even permit this interview to begin with! “Everyone, make way, or else, we'll report this to the legal department!” Suddenly, a man's voice echoed in the whole place. It was Leo in his usual suit and cold expression, followed by Hera and the guards behind her. All of them looked intimidating and cold, stopping the reporters from talking for a while. “Please wear this, Sir.” Leo pl
“HEIRLOOM? No. I’m sure that it came from my adoptive mother.” Damian’s brows furrowed, taking the clip from Veron’s hand. “She had been taking care of me for as long as I could remember. Although we’re not blood-related, I treated her like a real mother for showing kindness to me.”“I didn’t mean to offend you, son,” Veron explained, clearing out his intentions. “It just exactly looks like the Cornerstone family’s heirloom.”As he scanned the silver clip earlier, Veron found out that the heirloom was authentic. Even the texture and the gold glitter surrounding the clip were the same. Veron smiled bitterly as he remembered how Sabrina Cornerstone, his wife, always showed that clip to him proudly when they were together.“I will give this to Damian someday, so he can regain all of my family’s wealth, too,” Sabrina said, smiling as she stared at the clip. “Someday, he will inherit all our businesses, and no one will be able to hurt him. No one.”The Cornerstone family was one of the hig
