Ava left the room first, followed by Damian. However, instead of going home, he went to The Cozy Corner, one of the most expensive bars in the City, and Ava’s favorite bar, too.
A sad smile escaped his lips as he remembered the moments he shared with Ava at that bar. They would spend the night with each other, and part ways afterward so no one would see them together.
Damian shook his head, stopping himself from reminiscing, and went to the entrance when two bouncers blocked his way.
“You can’t enter here,” said the bouncer before pushing Damian away.
“Why?” Damian asked, his brows furrowing.
“Because beggars can't go inside to solicit.” He pointed at the customers inside. “Can you see how rich and presentable they are? What do you think will happen if we let you in? You’ll scare them, you motherfucker.”
Despite the bouncers mocking him, he remained calm. “I am not a beggar, and I have money to pay.” He took a few bucks from his pocket, which is his remaining salary after buying a cake.
If only he knew Ava would cheat on him, he would have saved that money instead.
“A few dollars? Really?” The bouncers laughed mockingly as they stared at Damian in disbelief. “Instead of going to a bar like this, why don’t you just buy a new shirt?”
“It’s a choice for me to make,” Damian said coldly, his gaze unwavering, causing the bouncers to stop laughing. “Let me in.”
“Fuck off,” the bouncer shot back, his eyes narrowing. “Leave before we lose our patience and beat you to death.”
Damian breathed heavily. He just wanted to grab a drink to release stress, but those bouncers were making another cause of stress for him. He could go to another bar, but only The Cozy Corner could give him safety from the reporters and other visitors who would mock him.
Maintaining his calm yet cold demeanor, he spoke. “I would like to speak to your manager.”
“And why are you looking for the bar manager?” The bouncer asked, his brows furrowing.
“Because we know each other, and I’ll show it to you.” Damian clicked his tongue and his gaze became cold. “Once she sees me, she’ll let me go inside.”
Damian and Ava knew the manager personally because they’re one of the VIPs. He was confident that once the manager saw him, she would ask the bouncers to let him go inside.
The bouncers gave Damian a condescending look, but he didn’t even flinch. Damian even matched with their gaze. “Alright. Let’s make a deal. If ma’am Sarah lets you in, we’ll let you punch us. But once she asks you to leave, we’ll beat you to a pulp!”
“Deal,” Damian answered without hesitation.
One of the bouncers went inside, and when he came back, there was a beautiful lady beside him.
“What’s happening here?” Sarah asked, her voice laced with annoyance. “Do you know how important the business I’m doing inside? Do you want to get fired?”
“I’m sorry if we disturbed you, Ma’am Sarah. This guy won’t leave the bar unless he talks to you.” He pointed at Damian. “He also claims that you two knew each other.”
Damian smiled in relief upon seeing Sarah’s presence, who immediately smiled back as soon as they made eye contact.
“How may I help you, Sir?” Sarah asked in a polite tone, which shocked the bouncers and made them wonder if Damian was telling the truth.
“I’m here to drink, but they won’t let me in,” Damian replied honestly as his gaze went to the bouncers who immediately went silent.
“Really?” Sarah looked at her employees and asked, “Why won’t you let him go inside?”
“Because he looked dirty, and it will taint the bar’s reputation,” the bouncer answered honestly, but in a weak and nervous tone. Still, they couldn’t help but look at Damian with disgust and irritation.
Sarah was about to answer but then, her phone rang. She excused herself before answering the phone.
“Hello, ma’am? Yes, he’s here…” She looked at Damian with her brows furrowed. “Alright, I understand. Have a good night, ma’am.”
Sarah ended the call and went back to the entrance where Damian was waiting.
Damian, on the other hand, was grinning widely because of the bouncers’ reaction. He laughed sarcastically and spoke, “Maybe you should teach them how to judge less.”
“Or maybe you should teach yourself to know where you should stand.”
Damian was astounded, seeing how Sarah’s expression changed after answering a call. “What do you mean?”
“Starting from now, you’re now forbidden to go here,” she announced in a cold tone. “It’s her order.”
Damian cursed at the back of his mind. He immediately knew where the order came from—Ava.
“You cannot go within the bar’s vicinity forever, or else I’ll let Miss Ava know about this,” Sarah threatened. She looked at the bouncers and instructed them. “If he won’t voluntarily leave, drag him away.”
Sarah went back inside the bar again, not paying attention to Damian even though he repeatedly called her name.
“Hey, you didn’t forget about our deal, didn't you?” The two bouncers smirked in unison.
As they brought Damian to a secluded area, they beat him up mercilessly. They only stopped when Damian was already coughing blood, afraid that they might kill him at this rate.
“This is what you get for mocking us, you shithead.” He kicked Damian one last time before they left.
"Shit...Shit..." Despite the difficulty, Damian did his best to stand up and go home.
But before he could even move, two young robbers went in his direction.
“He looks like a beggar. Should we just skip checking him?” the young man asked his companion.
“No. He might have some cash with him." The other guy scanned Damian, and his eyes landed on his pocket. “Take everything we can sell!”
“Yes, Boss!”
He was about to approach Damian when suddenly, a man in a suit came from nowhere and put down the mugger in one swift move. Everyone was shocked at how fast everything happened, including Damian.
The man stepped backward, his voice shaking. “What the fuck?!”
“If you don’t want to end up like him, run away,” the man in a suit said coldly, and he ran away without even looking back.
Afterward, he looked at Damian, whose eyes widened instantly in fear.
“Your presence alone costs billions of dollars, but I’m not here to harm you.” The man bowed in front of Damian. “I’m here to help you reclaim your power, young master.”
“Young master?” Damian laughed, and grimaced again after. “Rich families' heirs are called young masters, isn't it?” “Yes, young master. It's a way of showing respect to the next heir," He answered while still bowing. The excitement and relief were evident in his tone.“But I’m not rich. So you can stop bowing now.”The man obliged, his smile unwavering. Although Damian was denying his wealth, his exuding aura still screams dominance and authority—like his master."My name is Leo, and I’m your father’s right-hand man.” Leo helped Damian to stand up. “I and your father have been looking for you for a long time.”Hearing the word 'father,' Damian was now certain that the man mistook him for someone else, just like Ava. "Thank you for helping me, but I’m not the one you’re looking for. I’m an orphan, and my parents died a long time ago. I don't have a father.""I know everything is hard to understand now, but you're the one we're looking for, young master Damian Giovanni Smith..." Leo t
Damian's back bore a huge amount of scars, so many that they had shrounded his once visible tattoo. Veron couldn't help but clench his fist as he surveyed the scars more. Based on it's intensity, he knew it must be painful for Damian, and his gaze quickly tinged with rage. ‘Someone tried to kill my child.’ A shiver coursed through his spine."What happened to your skin? Why are there so many scars on it?" Veron inquired, his voice trembling."I don't know, too. I can't recall any memory about what happened before." Damian smiled bitterly, knowing how pathetic he is right now. “You should look away. It’s a horrible view for you.”“You’re right. It’s a horrible view for me,” Veron’s index finger traced Damian’s back—The part where the black rose tattoo should be positioned, “because who dares to hurt my son like this?”Damian was astounded upon hearing those words. He remembered how everyone felt disgusted when they saw his scars, so he tried his best to hide it. But Veron was differen
"WHAT ARE you doing here, you freak?” Carson asked, his brows furrowing. He was talking earlier to an employee about his appointment, so he didn't expect to see Damian. “I asked you a question first. Are you here to treat your wound because of my punch?” Damian raised a brow. “Hah! What wound are you talking about?” Carson laughed condescendingly. “You really thought you could hurt me because of that weak punch? You even call a punch?” “That weak punch you’re telling me now is the same punch that made your nose bleed. Did you forget? Or did I accidentally hit your head, too?” Damian pointed at his forehead, pissing Carson. Carson grabbed Damian on the collar, his teeth gritting. “Who the fuck do you think you are to treat me like this? Do you even know who I am?" “Of course. We both know who you are.” Damian held Carson’s wrist and twisted it—Strong enough to make Carson groan in pain, but light enough not to break his bones. “You’re someone who took Ava away from me.” He doesn’t
Anthony and his team went pale, seeing how Damian managed to knock the guard down in one move. Damian snapped his neck and looked at Anthony with a smirk, obviously mocking him.“What are you doing, you stupid fools? Attack him!” Anthony exclaimed.“Yes, Sir!”A total of five guards went to Damian. They surrounded him, making sure that Damian would have nowhere to run—As if Damian had plans to escape.“Are you ready, you prick?” one of Damian’s opponents asked before placing himself in a fighting position. He looked muscular and tall, and usually, people who see him would be scared in a second, but not Damian.Damian, instead of being intimidated, just smiled wickedly before fixing his stance. He placed both his hands in his pocket and stood up straight. “Then, try me.”“We’ll beat you to a pulp!”The five guards attacked him simultaneously, but Damian only dodged all the attacks, still his hands were in his pocket. Damian wasn’t attacking back, making Anthony laugh.“Why aren’t you f
“What? A man like him is Doctor Raine's VIP?” “You've got to be kidding me! I can't even set an appointment no matter how much I pay!" Suddenly, the hallway was filled with buzzes, and all of them were talking about Damian. The jealousy was evident in their expressions. “Wait. Are you saying that this man is the VIP and not me?” Carson asked, his brows furrowing. “I am Carson Ferremento, the heir of the Ferremento family. Are you even sure you got the right name?” “Yes, Sir. The VIP's name written here is Damian Giovanni Smith.” Jennica looked at the document again to confirm, then to Damian after. “Is it you, Sir?” “Yes. It's me.” “This could be a mistake,” Carson said, shaking his head in disbelief. “Maybe he was on the list of people banned from the hospital, and you just mistook him as a VIP.” “No, Sir. This document containing Sir Damian's identity came from the higher-ups a few minutes ago," Jennica replied. “It can't be,” Carson muttered, his veins almost showing on his
“What do you want?” Damian asked, his brows furrowing. “Are you that nervous you can't drag me away without using tactics like this?” “I am just trying to avoid ruckus, you freak,” Carson answered, his teeth gritting. “Why? Are you nervous now?” “Why would I? No matter what you do to me, I don't have anything to lose. But how about you?” Damian asked, shifting his position. He was now sitting on the hospital bed. “If a guy like me was able to beat all of you, what would they say? That the Ferremento family's heir is as weak as a rat?” “Don't you dare speak ill to my family like that." Carson held Damian on the collar. “I'm not speaking ill to your family. I'm just spitting facts." He intentionally prolonged the conversation so he could scan the place. The small room where they are right now placed him at a great disadvantage. He had almost nowhere to run and hide. Also, unlike Anthony's guards earlier, Carson's guards looked more attentive, skilled, and trained. Damian could judg
“What? I-I am banned from the hospital?" Carson blinked twice in shock. "Who gave you that stupid instruction?! Do all of you hit your heads and forget who I am?!” “We don’t forget who you are, Sir. Your family is one of the top contributors in the hospital,” Melvin answered politely, still his head lowered, the same as his people. “Your family donated buildings and hundreds of thousands of money for the hospital’s expansions and investments.” “If you know that, then why are you doing this to me, huh?” Carson pulled Melvin on the collar and slapped him. “Why are you humiliating my family in front of a fucking beggar?!” “He’s not the one humiliating your family,” Damian suddenly spoke, which made Carson stop assaulting Melvin. “You’re the one humiliating yourself, and you’re bringing the Ferremento family with you.” ‘And you’re dragging me into humiliation, too,’ Damian added to his thoughts. The fact that Carson and him are blood-related sent shivers down Damian’s spine. Not becau
“H-How could that happen? Why would Father ask you to ban me from this hospital?” Carson asked, sweating profusely. “I don’t know either, Sir,” Zach answered, his head still bowing. “To avoid commotions, you should follow us immediately. We already prepared an exit for you.” “Follow him. As an heir, you wouldn’t like to embarrass your family, right?” Damian spoke, obviously mocking Carson. “It’s your Father’s command, after all.” Damian found it strange that Carson addressed Veron as his father, although he was certain they didn’t have a relationship as a father and son. He had so many questions in mind, but Damian’s main goal now was to get Carson out of his sight. “This wouldn’t be the last time we’ll see each other. Remember that,” Carson warned him. “It will be easy for me to ruin your reputation. You’ll regret that you messed up with someone like me!” “Alright. If you say so.” Damian shrugged, unbothered. “Take him away now and take care of those people who saw this scene,"
