“What? A man like him is Doctor Raine's VIP?”
“You've got to be kidding me! I can't even set an appointment no matter how much I pay!"
Suddenly, the hallway was filled with buzzes, and all of them were talking about Damian. The jealousy was evident in their expressions.
“Wait. Are you saying that this man is the VIP and not me?” Carson asked, his brows furrowing. “I am Carson Ferremento, the heir of the Ferremento family. Are you even sure you got the right name?”
“Yes, Sir. The VIP's name written here is Damian Giovanni Smith.” Jennica looked at the document again to confirm, then to Damian after. “Is it you, Sir?”
“Yes. It's me.”
“This could be a mistake,” Carson said, shaking his head in disbelief. “Maybe he was on the list of people banned from the hospital, and you just mistook him as a VIP.”
“No, Sir. This document containing Sir Damian's identity came from the higher-ups a few minutes ago," Jennica replied.
“It can't be,” Carson muttered, his veins almost showing on his neck.
“What do you mean, Sir—”
“A beggar like him can’t be a VIP!” Carson already burst into a rage as Jennica continued shoveling into his face that Damian was superior to him.
He looked at Damian afterward, and his brows furrowed more, seeing that Damian looked like he was enjoying the show.
“Can you see how you're disturbing everyone's peace here?” Damian asked, smirking. “This is a hospital exclusive for the rich, as you say, yet you're shouting without thinking about anyone's condition. Do you want to be thrown out of the hospital?”
“No one would dare do that to me.”
Damian and Carson gave deadly gazes at each other, causing tension in the whole place. Even the people who were watching them forgot how to breathe as Damian successfully matched Carson's intimidating presence.
A few seconds later, Damian broke the silence. “Sit there, and patiently wait for your turn. You're an heir, as you say. Act like one.” He looked at Jennica. “Let's go.”
“This way, Sir.” Jennica led the way, and Damian followed her, leaving Carson alone with the people who couldn't stop blabbering about what happened.
“The moment I see a video, a picture, or even an article about what happened here today, I will not just ruin your company. I will ruin all your lives until your descendants. Do you understand?!” Carson threatened everyone.
No one answered, and Carson took their silence and obvious fears as a yes.
At that moment, Carson decided to cancel his schedule with Raine and book an appointment with another dermatologist. He called Cleo, his most trusted butler, to do it.
“Doctor Tyron on the third floor is now available. I am done setting an appointment with him, and he's waiting for you now,” said Cleo on the other line. “Anything else, young master?”
“Yes, Cleo.” Carson clenched his fist and gritted his teeth. “I need you to do something for me.”
MEANWHILE, inside Doctor Raine's room, Damian was sitting on the hospital bed without his shirt, while Raine was doing a few check-ups on his back.
“This is an old scar, yet it looks severe and painful...” Raine muttered, her hands tracing Damian's back. “Can you remember when you got those scars? It will help me to think of the best way to treat this.”
“I don't.” Damian shook his head. “I lost all memories regarding that scar.”
Raine smiled painfully, imagining how painful it might be for Damian to have those wounds, and until now, those memories resurfaced because of the scars.
At first, she thought that it was an accident. But as she looked closely at the scars, she found some patterns on it.
“Here, here, and here...” Raine pointed at Damian's upper left back, middle, and lower right back. “Your scars are more severe in these places.”
She pressed her fingers on Damian's upper back. “Does it hurt?”
“A little,” Damian said, slightly grimacing.
“What about here?” Raine pressed on Damian's lower back this time. “Do you feel the same pain?”
“Yes.” Damian nodded.
Raine's skin went pale at her realization. She listed all her conclusions and medications in the paper before giving Damian his shirt.
Damian looked at Raine's expression and sighed. “It's impossible to remove the scars, isn't it?”
“It's not impossible... But it would be a long medication,” Raine replied, her voice low. “They're not only scars. Some parts of your back still have unhealed wounds inside. Is your back hurting from time to time?”
“Yes.” Damian nodded.
Before, he thought that his back hurts because of him working every day. He didn't have any idea that his scars weren't fully healed yet.
At the same time, Damian couldn't help but be amazed at Raine. She looked young, but Damian could feel that Raine knew what she was doing.
“I'll perform surgery on your back soon, but I still need to study your case. For now, drink those medicines to heal your wounds," Raine told him.
“Alright.”
Raine gave Damian the paper, which he accepted. He placed it in his pocket before looking at the doctor. “You're the first doctor who told me they could remove my scars. Thank you.”
“It's my pleasure, Mr. Smith.” Raine smiled back before calling Jennica. “Jennica, assist our VIP in the pharmacy.”
“Yes, Ma'am."
Damian left Raine's room with Jennica. He scanned the place, looking for Carson, but Damian couldn't find him.
‘Did he go home?’ Damian asked, smirking. ‘Maybe he was really embarrassed earlier, huh?’
“This way, Sir,” Jennica said, snapping Damian from his thoughts.
Damian followed Jennica toward the pharmacy. She assisted Damian in buying the medicines. He didn't pay a single cent as Thaliana took care of the expenses earlier.
“Thank you, Jennica. You may go now,” Damian said, smiling.
Jennica smiled back and bowed before leaving him alone. Damian was about to leave the hospital when a male nurse approached him. “Sir, Doctor Raine told me you need to undergo a test.”
“A test?” Damian’s brows furrowed. “But Doctor Raine told me she’ll set another schedule for the tests.”
“She told me it’s a mistake,” the nurse answered. “Follow me, Sir.”
Damian followed the male nurse, although he was quite confused. He brought Damian into an isolated, unoccupied room, and told Damian to lie on the hospital bed.
Suddenly, another man with a face mask approached him. He was wearing a blue scrub and gloves.
“Where is Doctor Raine?” Damian asked, but the man didn’t answer. So, Damian spoke again. “Didn’t you hear me? Where’s Doctor Raine?”
Still, the man didn’t answer. Instead, he removed his mask. Damian’s eyes widened to see that it was Carson, smiling sardonically at him.
“What the fuck?” Damian cursed before sitting up. “What are you doing here?”
Carson clapped his hands, and his guards hiding in the room came around him. “It’s time for my payback, you fucker.”
What are your thoughts about this story so far? I would love to read your comments and reviews. Thank you!
“What do you want?” Damian asked, his brows furrowing. “Are you that nervous you can't drag me away without using tactics like this?” “I am just trying to avoid ruckus, you freak,” Carson answered, his teeth gritting. “Why? Are you nervous now?” “Why would I? No matter what you do to me, I don't have anything to lose. But how about you?” Damian asked, shifting his position. He was now sitting on the hospital bed. “If a guy like me was able to beat all of you, what would they say? That the Ferremento family's heir is as weak as a rat?” “Don't you dare speak ill to my family like that." Carson held Damian on the collar. “I'm not speaking ill to your family. I'm just spitting facts." He intentionally prolonged the conversation so he could scan the place. The small room where they are right now placed him at a great disadvantage. He had almost nowhere to run and hide. Also, unlike Anthony's guards earlier, Carson's guards looked more attentive, skilled, and trained. Damian could judg
“What? I-I am banned from the hospital?" Carson blinked twice in shock. "Who gave you that stupid instruction?! Do all of you hit your heads and forget who I am?!” “We don’t forget who you are, Sir. Your family is one of the top contributors in the hospital,” Melvin answered politely, still his head lowered, the same as his people. “Your family donated buildings and hundreds of thousands of money for the hospital’s expansions and investments.” “If you know that, then why are you doing this to me, huh?” Carson pulled Melvin on the collar and slapped him. “Why are you humiliating my family in front of a fucking beggar?!” “He’s not the one humiliating your family,” Damian suddenly spoke, which made Carson stop assaulting Melvin. “You’re the one humiliating yourself, and you’re bringing the Ferremento family with you.” ‘And you’re dragging me into humiliation, too,’ Damian added to his thoughts. The fact that Carson and him are blood-related sent shivers down Damian’s spine. Not becau
“H-How could that happen? Why would Father ask you to ban me from this hospital?” Carson asked, sweating profusely. “I don’t know either, Sir,” Zach answered, his head still bowing. “To avoid commotions, you should follow us immediately. We already prepared an exit for you.” “Follow him. As an heir, you wouldn’t like to embarrass your family, right?” Damian spoke, obviously mocking Carson. “It’s your Father’s command, after all.” Damian found it strange that Carson addressed Veron as his father, although he was certain they didn’t have a relationship as a father and son. He had so many questions in mind, but Damian’s main goal now was to get Carson out of his sight. “This wouldn’t be the last time we’ll see each other. Remember that,” Carson warned him. “It will be easy for me to ruin your reputation. You’ll regret that you messed up with someone like me!” “Alright. If you say so.” Damian shrugged, unbothered. “Take him away now and take care of those people who saw this scene,"
“Mid-Century Elegance Events…” As one of the most famous event-planning companies in the country, Mid-Century Elegance Events is one of the top subsidiaries of the Ferremento Corporation. Millions of revenue are generated every month, and they hold power toward the rich families, too. Rich people book an appointment at Mid-Century despite its high fees because of their commendable work, and it is the reason why the management is keen on hiring people in the company. It was hard to land a job at this company, and even his former classmates were rejected when they applied here, too…But not Damian. Little did everyone know, he was working at Mid-Century as a janitor. Now, how could he explain to his department that he’ll be working as an intern starting today? “Is there a problem, young master?” Thaliana asked, lowering the car window. “Master told me that this company will give you more experience and learnings than the other subsidiaries, but if you don’t like it, I’ll tell him.”
“What the hell? Who are you?!” Nicole asked, her brows furrowing. “Why did you take my phone just like that? Give it back to me!” She tried taking back her phone from his hand, but failed. “Calm down first, and I’ll give it back to you,” the man replied before looking at Damian. “What are you doing here, anyway? Did I assign you to the Operations department?" “I’ll explain it to you later,” Damian answered coldly. “As you should.” “Hah! Both of you are accomplices, aren’t you?” Nicole smirked. Her gaze flickered on the man and Damian with disgust. “It should be the case! Because why would you take his side?” “Because I’m his boss.” The man smiled before taking Nicole’s hand. He placed the phone on her palm. “I’m John, one of the team leaders in the Utilities Department." “U-Utilities department?” Nicole blinked twice, realizing something. “Then…” “You're right. Damian is one of our janitors here,” John confirmed Nicole’s suspicions. “I’m saying sorry on his behalf. Usually, he’
“Yes, Sir. I heard it loud and clear,” Diana answered on the other line. “I’ll take care of it now.” “I will also send you the recording later," Damian added and hung up the phone. He looked at John. “You should have changed your attitude while you still have a chance, but you decided to continue being a jerk.” “You don’t think that I fell for your trick, do you? Who will believe that you’re talking to Ma’am Diana?” John asked disdainfully. “I'll decrease your salary. I won't accept your resignation, too. You'll live in misery here." “You have been cheating on the company for a long time. You're passing all your workloads to the employees inferior to you, and resting like you aren't getting paid…” Damian matched John’s intense gaze. “Don’t you think you’re not making everyone live in misery by doing that?” “It's none of your fucking business!” John held Damian on the collar and gritted his teeth. “Why don’t you just turn a blind eye and work like you used to? Why do you need to int
“WHAT? Why me?” Nicole pointed at herself. “Because I know you’re capable of handling a mere intern like me,” Damian answered, emphasizing every word. “You did your job properly by not letting me enter the operations department earlier. I am not on the list, so you became firm on your decisions. It's commendable.” Kierra smiled, hearing the compliment Damian gave to Nicole. She didn’t know Damian’s real identity, but since Diana personally gave instructions to assist Damian, she knew Damian was a big shot. “You hear that? He can see how talented you are despite meeting for the first time,” said Kierra, her smile unwavering. “Guide him, okay? Tell him all the processes inside the operations department. Train him well.” “But ma’am… I have too much on my plate right now.” Nicole scratched her nape. She looked at Damian, her facial expression became cold again. “He’s only an intern. Why would we need to give him special treatment like this?” “I don’t take no as an answer,” Kierra answ
Nicole was astounded after hearing Damian's threat. She should not take his threat to heart, knowing that Damian is only an intern. But her heart racing fast, afraid that Damian would do what he had said. “You may be right. They treat me as an outcast here because I have a lower financial status than them. But remember this. I'll always be superior to you!” Nicole fumed, trying to conceal her nervousness with anger. “So, how dare you threaten me, you freaking intern?” “Threat? Do you think I'm threatening you right now?” In a snap, Damian's gaze became cold and menacing. “This isn't how I threaten people, Nicole. I'm not even starting yet.” And before Nicole could even react, Damian already left the operations department. While walking to the lobby, Damian saw how the other employees threw glances at him. Most of them looked disgusted and shocked because of his presence. They were telling him through their gazes that he didn’t belong there. If only they knew his real identity, al
