Anthony and his team went pale, seeing how Damian managed to knock the guard down in one move. Damian snapped his neck and looked at Anthony with a smirk, obviously mocking him.
“What are you doing, you stupid fools? Attack him!” Anthony exclaimed.
“Yes, Sir!”
A total of five guards went to Damian. They surrounded him, making sure that Damian would have nowhere to run—As if Damian had plans to escape.
“Are you ready, you prick?” one of Damian’s opponents asked before placing himself in a fighting position. He looked muscular and tall, and usually, people who see him would be scared in a second, but not Damian.
Damian, instead of being intimidated, just smiled wickedly before fixing his stance. He placed both his hands in his pocket and stood up straight. “Then, try me.”
“We’ll beat you to a pulp!”
The five guards attacked him simultaneously, but Damian only dodged all the attacks, still his hands were in his pocket. Damian wasn’t attacking back, making Anthony laugh.
“Why aren’t you fighting back? Are you afraid?” Anthony asked, his voice condescending. “You should have listened to me from the start. We wouldn’t have ended like this if you just left quietly.”
Of course, it was a lie. He would gladly beat Damian to death for the sake of his career and for his reputation, too. Someone like Damian could not humiliate him just like that.
Damian didn’t answer. Instead, he remained focused on his opponents. All of them had different skills and body builds, so Damian was studying all of them one by one.
He observed every detail, and as soon as he could predict their next moves, that’s where Damian started fighting back.
“W-What the—Ugh!”
Damian’s moves were simple yet precise. His every punch and kick was critical. Damian knew all the vital points to paralyze his opponents, and he used that to his advantage.
In less than one minute, all the guards were lying down, groaning in pain. And Damian? He’s just standing casually in the middle, making Anthony step back involuntarily.
“What the fuck? W-Who are you?” Anthony asked, slightly stammering as he didn’t see anyone as good as Damian in fighting before.
“Let me tell you. I’m not a beggar.” Damian massaged his head, controlling his emotions. “Wait. Did Carson report me as one?”
“How dare you call him by his name?!” Anthony asked in disbelief.
“Why can't I? He's a bastard,” Damian answered casually.
He left the hallway and went to the other side, ignoring Anthony who continued following him but did not make any single move to attack. Damian smirked, knowing that Anthony had become afraid of him.
He didn’t know where he learned those moves, but it seemed like his body knew what he was doing, so Damian followed it.
A few minutes later, he finally found the doctor’s room written in the note given by Thaliana. Damian was about to go there, but he turned around, confronting Anthony first.
“What if I really have an appointment, and I can prove it?” Damian asked, causing Anthony to raise a brow. “Can you take the consequences of what you did for today? Can you afford to lose this job?”
“You? Having an appointment here?” Anthony looked at Damian from head to toe. “You can’t even buy an expensive shirt. How can you afford to pay the fees?”
Damian only shrugged. Looking at how close-minded Anthony was, explaining everything to him would be a waste of time. “Your bad attitude will make you lose this job. Believe me.”
“No one can fire him without my permission.”
Damian and Anthony looked at the other side and saw Carson approaching them. Anthony greeted him, while Damian remained silent. He didn’t even show any sign of fear in front of Carson.
“Anthony has worked in this company for five years. He does this job well by dealing with paupers like you.” Carson said and looked at Anthony after. “Why is this beggar still here?”
“He… He beat all the guards, Sir,” Anthony explained, avoiding Damian’s gaze. “I think he is a skilled fighter.”
“Nonsense. How could a man like him be a skilled fighter? He won’t have the money to pay for the lessons.” Carson shook his head. “Maybe you didn’t train your people enough. Is this how you pay me for backing you up?”
“I-I’m sorry, Sir.” Anthony bowed his head in shame.
“Leave. I’ll deal with this myself.” Carson said, and Anthony obliged. He looked at Damian. “Tell me the truth. What are you doing here?”
“I have an appointment,” Damian answered, getting impatient now.
“Appointment? Do you even know where you are?” Carson sneered, his lips full of disdain. “This hospital is exclusive for the rich. Some rich families even couldn’t afford to book an appointment here because of the expensive fees…And you’re telling me you have one?”
“Yes,” Damian answered without hesitation. “Then, would you leave now? I’m already late for my appointment.” He raised the paper in his hand, and Carson pulled it.
“Room 498, Doctor Raine Anderson…” Carson read what was written in the paper. “Are you serious? Raine is the greatest dermatologist in the country. What made you think you can afford to have an appointment with her?” he sneered.
‘Maybe leaving Thaliana outside isn’t a good option,’ Damian thought. ‘If she’s here, I’m sure she has done something for Carson to leave me alone.'
“What are you thinking? Are you embarrassed now because I caught you lying? ” Carson asked, looking at Damian disdainfully. “Well, coincidentally, we have the same doctor. Should I ask Raine if you really have an appointment with her?”
“Go ahead.” Damian shrugged.
Suddenly, the door from one of the doors opened, revealing Jennica, Raine’s secretary. “Everyone, there’s a VIP patient that Doctor Raine needed to assist first. Thank you for your understanding.”
“I’m the VIP patient she’s talking about,” Carson smirked, thinking how humiliated Damian would be later on. “Be ready to be thrown out, you fucker.”
Carson went to the door, but strangely, Jennica was staring at Damian with her brows furrowed. “I’m here now. Where’s Doctor Raine?”
“I’m sorry, Sir. But you need to wait first. The VIP is our main priority for now,” Jennica explained.
“I know. It’s me—”
Carson wasn’t able to finish his sentence as he saw Damian approaching. He was about to mock Damian, but Jennica suddenly approached him.
“Greetings, Sir Damian. Doctor Raine is already waiting for you," said Jennica in a polite tone, shocking everyone in the hallway.
“What? A man like him is Doctor Raine's VIP?” “You've got to be kidding me! I can't even set an appointment no matter how much I pay!" Suddenly, the hallway was filled with buzzes, and all of them were talking about Damian. The jealousy was evident in their expressions. “Wait. Are you saying that this man is the VIP and not me?” Carson asked, his brows furrowing. “I am Carson Ferremento, the heir of the Ferremento family. Are you even sure you got the right name?” “Yes, Sir. The VIP's name written here is Damian Giovanni Smith.” Jennica looked at the document again to confirm, then to Damian after. “Is it you, Sir?” “Yes. It's me.” “This could be a mistake,” Carson said, shaking his head in disbelief. “Maybe he was on the list of people banned from the hospital, and you just mistook him as a VIP.” “No, Sir. This document containing Sir Damian's identity came from the higher-ups a few minutes ago," Jennica replied. “It can't be,” Carson muttered, his veins almost showing on his
“What do you want?” Damian asked, his brows furrowing. “Are you that nervous you can't drag me away without using tactics like this?” “I am just trying to avoid ruckus, you freak,” Carson answered, his teeth gritting. “Why? Are you nervous now?” “Why would I? No matter what you do to me, I don't have anything to lose. But how about you?” Damian asked, shifting his position. He was now sitting on the hospital bed. “If a guy like me was able to beat all of you, what would they say? That the Ferremento family's heir is as weak as a rat?” “Don't you dare speak ill to my family like that." Carson held Damian on the collar. “I'm not speaking ill to your family. I'm just spitting facts." He intentionally prolonged the conversation so he could scan the place. The small room where they are right now placed him at a great disadvantage. He had almost nowhere to run and hide. Also, unlike Anthony's guards earlier, Carson's guards looked more attentive, skilled, and trained. Damian could judg
“What? I-I am banned from the hospital?" Carson blinked twice in shock. "Who gave you that stupid instruction?! Do all of you hit your heads and forget who I am?!” “We don’t forget who you are, Sir. Your family is one of the top contributors in the hospital,” Melvin answered politely, still his head lowered, the same as his people. “Your family donated buildings and hundreds of thousands of money for the hospital’s expansions and investments.” “If you know that, then why are you doing this to me, huh?” Carson pulled Melvin on the collar and slapped him. “Why are you humiliating my family in front of a fucking beggar?!” “He’s not the one humiliating your family,” Damian suddenly spoke, which made Carson stop assaulting Melvin. “You’re the one humiliating yourself, and you’re bringing the Ferremento family with you.” ‘And you’re dragging me into humiliation, too,’ Damian added to his thoughts. The fact that Carson and him are blood-related sent shivers down Damian’s spine. Not becau
“H-How could that happen? Why would Father ask you to ban me from this hospital?” Carson asked, sweating profusely. “I don’t know either, Sir,” Zach answered, his head still bowing. “To avoid commotions, you should follow us immediately. We already prepared an exit for you.” “Follow him. As an heir, you wouldn’t like to embarrass your family, right?” Damian spoke, obviously mocking Carson. “It’s your Father’s command, after all.” Damian found it strange that Carson addressed Veron as his father, although he was certain they didn’t have a relationship as a father and son. He had so many questions in mind, but Damian’s main goal now was to get Carson out of his sight. “This wouldn’t be the last time we’ll see each other. Remember that,” Carson warned him. “It will be easy for me to ruin your reputation. You’ll regret that you messed up with someone like me!” “Alright. If you say so.” Damian shrugged, unbothered. “Take him away now and take care of those people who saw this scene,"
“Mid-Century Elegance Events…” As one of the most famous event-planning companies in the country, Mid-Century Elegance Events is one of the top subsidiaries of the Ferremento Corporation. Millions of revenue are generated every month, and they hold power toward the rich families, too. Rich people book an appointment at Mid-Century despite its high fees because of their commendable work, and it is the reason why the management is keen on hiring people in the company. It was hard to land a job at this company, and even his former classmates were rejected when they applied here, too…But not Damian. Little did everyone know, he was working at Mid-Century as a janitor. Now, how could he explain to his department that he’ll be working as an intern starting today? “Is there a problem, young master?” Thaliana asked, lowering the car window. “Master told me that this company will give you more experience and learnings than the other subsidiaries, but if you don’t like it, I’ll tell him.”
“What the hell? Who are you?!” Nicole asked, her brows furrowing. “Why did you take my phone just like that? Give it back to me!” She tried taking back her phone from his hand, but failed. “Calm down first, and I’ll give it back to you,” the man replied before looking at Damian. “What are you doing here, anyway? Did I assign you to the Operations department?" “I’ll explain it to you later,” Damian answered coldly. “As you should.” “Hah! Both of you are accomplices, aren’t you?” Nicole smirked. Her gaze flickered on the man and Damian with disgust. “It should be the case! Because why would you take his side?” “Because I’m his boss.” The man smiled before taking Nicole’s hand. He placed the phone on her palm. “I’m John, one of the team leaders in the Utilities Department." “U-Utilities department?” Nicole blinked twice, realizing something. “Then…” “You're right. Damian is one of our janitors here,” John confirmed Nicole’s suspicions. “I’m saying sorry on his behalf. Usually, he’
“Yes, Sir. I heard it loud and clear,” Diana answered on the other line. “I’ll take care of it now.” “I will also send you the recording later," Damian added and hung up the phone. He looked at John. “You should have changed your attitude while you still have a chance, but you decided to continue being a jerk.” “You don’t think that I fell for your trick, do you? Who will believe that you’re talking to Ma’am Diana?” John asked disdainfully. “I'll decrease your salary. I won't accept your resignation, too. You'll live in misery here." “You have been cheating on the company for a long time. You're passing all your workloads to the employees inferior to you, and resting like you aren't getting paid…” Damian matched John’s intense gaze. “Don’t you think you’re not making everyone live in misery by doing that?” “It's none of your fucking business!” John held Damian on the collar and gritted his teeth. “Why don’t you just turn a blind eye and work like you used to? Why do you need to int
“WHAT? Why me?” Nicole pointed at herself. “Because I know you’re capable of handling a mere intern like me,” Damian answered, emphasizing every word. “You did your job properly by not letting me enter the operations department earlier. I am not on the list, so you became firm on your decisions. It's commendable.” Kierra smiled, hearing the compliment Damian gave to Nicole. She didn’t know Damian’s real identity, but since Diana personally gave instructions to assist Damian, she knew Damian was a big shot. “You hear that? He can see how talented you are despite meeting for the first time,” said Kierra, her smile unwavering. “Guide him, okay? Tell him all the processes inside the operations department. Train him well.” “But ma’am… I have too much on my plate right now.” Nicole scratched her nape. She looked at Damian, her facial expression became cold again. “He’s only an intern. Why would we need to give him special treatment like this?” “I don’t take no as an answer,” Kierra answ
